2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

Posted 16 January, 2014 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Challenges / 22 Comments

I decided I really needed to do something about my humongous TBR pile. And then I stumbled upon the 2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge hosted by Bookish. I currently have 457 book on my kindle – books I haven’t read yet. Some of them are kindle freebies, some are cheap books, others are books I was looking forward to, and then kind of forgot about when I finally got them delivered to my kindle. So I really need to do something about all those books I already own.

There are several levels in the 2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge, and for starters, I am going to go with Sweet Summer Fling – my goal is to read 31-40 books that are already on my kindle as of now. And the rules will also make me do this – as only books released before 2014 can count towards the challenge. Anyone can sign up, and the linky for the sign ups is open until December 15th 2014.

What about you? Do you need help tackling your TBR pile? Don’t be shy, head over to Bookish Sign-up Post and join the fun! I will not decide in advance what books I will read for my 2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge, because usually, as soon as I plan what books to read, I don’t really feel like reading them anymore… But I will post a monthly wrap-up post to share which books from my TBR I completed each month.

    • Oh, I need to check out the review pile reading challenge. Almost all of my review books are from Netgalley, too, so both of those I should probably sign up on.

Thanks for stopping by, Stormi 🙂

    • LOL only 100, eh? I know exactly what you mean, though, and I have no idea how those cheap and free book suddenly piled up like that!

Thanks for stopping by, Pam 🙂

    • Yeah, lots of bloggers I know on that linky. It’s such a great idea, too.

Thanks for stopping by, Lee 🙂 And good luck to you, too.

    • Oh thanks for that link, Lindy. I will be participating in the COYER challenge again this spring. That was a lot of fun, and really helped me tackle books already on my kindle.

Have a fantastic Friday, my friend 🙂

  1. Hahahaha. I still have to think about this since I already have two challenges that I will be completing this year, Lexxie. I’m already pressured especially that I’m not really good at challenges. Hahahah.

Good luck to this endeavor of yours though. I know you can do it. You’re one of the fastest readers that I know. Hahaha.

    • I’m usually OK with challenges, as long as I don’t try to decide in advance which books I’m going to read.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend <3

  2. Gah! You are well aware of the fact that I am in serious need of help in this area, Lexxie. 🙂 You know because you are constantly twisting my arm and making me one-click books…despite the fact that I have sooo many already on my ereaders that are crying out to be read.

    *winks and grins*

So I should join this challenge too, eh? But you know how terrible I am at challenges…

    *hugs*

    • LOL, yes, I think we both really need an intervention, but we don’t want one! And I’m so sorry for the arm-twisting, Brandee. I hope I haven’t hurt your elbow too much 😛

This challenge is really good, though, since it’s just for any book released before this year, and that you already own. It shouldn’t be all that hard (say the one with the one-clickitis and the awful Netgalley request habit)…

Thanks for stopping by, Brandee. *HUGS*

  3. I just keep adding books to my Kindle even though there’s a long wait list of “must read now” books already. Plus all the contest wins. Those make me actually feel guilty. Oh, the drama! Good luck on your challenge. I’ll be cheering you on.

    • Thanks for being ready to cheer me on, Robyn. I know, all those ‘must read’ books that I can’t help but add to my kindle are slowly killing me!

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday!

    • Hey, you can still join the challenge, and just decide to read 10 books on your TBR list.

Thanks for stopping by, Goldie 🙂

    • Thanks Lyn. I can’t stop that one-clicking thing, so even if I manage to read several books from my already-owned list, it might still stay pretty full.
