2015 Challenges Update Post #4

Another month is coming to an end, and so it’s time to update those challenges I’m participating in for 2015. I am doing pretty well on all my challenges, apart from the audiobook challenge *sighs*. I will do better, and am having a great time with the book I’m listening to right now.

New Release Challenge (un)Conventional BookviewsThe 2015 New Release Challenge is hosted by myself and Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews Oh My! as the challenge title suggests, this one is for books released during 2015 only, and the books counting towards the challenge have to be read and reviewed during the year as well.

I am doing the New Release Enthusiast, planning to read 45+ books this year, and I’m doing really well, so far I have read and reviewed 32 books that were released this year. You can find a list with links to my reviews on my New Release Challenge page.

The 2015 Reading Assignment Challenge is hosted by Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun and Michelle @ Because Reading is Better Than Real Life. The idea behind this challenge is to make a list of books that have been collecting dust on our shelves for a while, and read a certain number of books each month. I have chosen the highest level here as well, because I just own so many books that haven’t gotten any love from me at all. So have to read four books each month, for a total of 48 books total for the challenge.

I am right on track with this one, I have read 16 books towards this challenge, and you can find the reviews for all of them on my 2015 Reading Assignment Challenge Post. These are the four books I read towards the challenge in April:

Night Broken cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsForgotten Sins cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsTalon cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsSamson's Lovely Mortal cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I’m quite happy I’m doing so well with this challenge, because I’m only including books I have actually bought (or kindle freebies) no ARCs in this one!

LGBTChallenge2015

The 2015 LGBT Challenge is hosted by Cayce @ Niji Feels, and this is a challenge I’m really loving this year! I have discovered some gems thanks to the fact that I’m trying to read books with more diversified characters. My goal for this challenge is 24 books for the year, and so far I have read and reviewed nine. You can find my LGBT challenge page with links to my reviews here.

Audiobook Challenge 2015

The 2015 Audiobook Challenge is hosted by Jennifer @ The Book Nympho and Loupe @ Hot Listens. And I’m really not doing well on this challenge *cries* I just seem to be reading all the time, and always forget to listen to one of my many audiobooks. My goal is to listen to 10-15 audiobooks, and really, I’ve only listened to one so far, and that’s Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

2015 TBR Pile Challenge - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The 2015 TBR Pile Reading Challenge is hosted by Evie and her friends @ Bookish. The thing that made me sign up for this challenge was that all the books counting here had to be released before 2015. And so, I got a good way to try to read more of those books that have been on my kindle for years. Yeah, that’s how bad I am, that one-click finger is faster than my shadow, and so, I always end up with far more books than I can actually read. I am aiming for the highest level here, 50+ books, and I’m doing well! So far, I have read 29 books that count towards my 2015 TBR Pile challenge. You can find a list with links to my reviews on my 2015 TBR Pile challenge page.

Bookish Resolution Challenge - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The 2015 Bookish Resolutions Challenge is hosted by Laura @ Trips Down Imagination Road and Michelle @ Because Reading is Better than Real Life. This challenge is quite different from the other challenges I’m participating in, because I had to set the goals myself, and one of my goals is to read and review books I own. I have trouble with this, because when I get a shiny ARC, I want to read and review it straight away! Of course, I read the books I buy too, but I don’t always review them… And so, I need to do that – and I’ve been quite good so far, as I have read and reviewed 24 of my owned books so far this year. The other goals I’ve set I’m doing less well on… I still haven’t quit smoking. I’m not listening to many audiobooks, and I haven’t done many discussion posts. So I still need to work on those. You can find the list of read and reviewed books on my challenge page.

So that’s it for me – quite a lot of challenges, and I’m doing good on four out of six, so I guess I shouldn’t be too upset with myself…

  1. I didn’t sign up for any challenges this year aside from the general Goodreads one where we set a goal for total books to read. Two LGBT books that I’ve read this year that I really enjoyed and want to recommend to you are There You Stand by Christina Lee and Trust the Focus (this is a LGBT Series) by Megan Erickson 🙂 Two that I have on my TBR are Focus on Me by Megan Erickson (This is on Netgalley and I just picked it up) and Yours All Along by Roni Loren. What a great Resolution Challenge! I have a tendency to not review the books I purchase too, just the ARCS. Good Luck with all of your challenges!

  2. I’d say you’re doing really well, overall, Lexxie! I laughed that you feel the need to immediately read and review your shiny new ARCs. I seem to put them off – or at least I did when I couldn’t stay away from Netgalley. Now, I don’t visit much unless I’m there to post a long overdue review. 🙂 As for the challenges you’re a bit behind in, no worries! You’re almost finished with some of the challenges you’re participating in, so you’ll have some extra time to dedicate to the ones that need more time. And maybe once school’s out you’ll have more time for challenges, too.

    **BIG HUGS**

  3. How do you do it Lexxie? I always dream of participating in challenges but with my hectic schedule I already know i’d never be able to finish them–so I avoid them! Haha! This probably isn’t what I should be doing but we won’t tell anyone, right? LOL.
You’re coming along great with you challenges Lexxie! i’m so happy you’re still finding these challenges fun and exciting!
