2015 Challenges – Update Post #1

I am participating in several challenges for 2015, and instead of doing one update post per challenge, I am just including them all in one post right here.

2015 Challenges Update Post #1

New Release Challenge (un)Conventional Bookviews
The 2015 New Release Challenge is hosted by myself and Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My! We both read ARCs, and there are also books just being released this year that we are incapable of resisting, so motivating ourselves and each other to read and review new releases seemed like a great idea to us. Because I read over 140 books released in 2014 last year, I am aiming for 75 for this year. Here are the books I’ve read so far for the 2015 New Release Challenge:

  1. Review: Golden Son – Pierce Brown
  2. Review: Never Never – Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
  3. Review: Hard Knocks – Lori Foster
  4. Review: Flirting with Disaster – Victoria Dahl
  5. Review: Three, Two, One – J.A. Huss
  6. Review: Burned – Karen Marie Moning

The 2015 Reading Assignment Challenge is hosted by Berls @ Fantasy Is More Fun and Michelle @ Because Reading. For this challenge, I made a list of 48 books I plan to read in 2015, and the rules are quite strict… Here are the books I have read towards the 2015 Reading Assignment Challenge so far this year:

  1. Review: Soul Walker – Robyn Jones
  2. DNF Review: Hex Hall – Rachel Hawkins
  3. Review: Embracing the Wolf – Felicity Heaton
  4. Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

LGBT Challenge 2015 - (un)jConventional Bookviews

The LGBT Challenge 2015 is hosted by Cayce @ Niji Feels. I love this challenge – both because I love having more diversity in my books, and because it has helped me discover some truly amazing stories thanks to the reviews other participants have posted. My aim is to read more than 10 books with LGBT characters or themes for 2015. Here is a list of the books I have rad for the LGBT Challenge 2015 so far:

  1. Review: More than Friends – Aria Grace
  2. Review: Flirting with Disaster – Victoria Dahl

2015 Audiobook Challenge - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The 2015 Audiobook Challenge is hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I only listened to a few audiobooks in 2014, and for 2015, I am aiming for 10-15 audiobooks, reaching the Stenographer level. Here is a list of the audiobooks I have listened to so far this year:

  1. Audioreview: Ugly Love – Colleen Hoover

Bookish Resolution Challenge - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The 2015 Bookish Resolutions Challenge is hosted by Laura @ Trips Down Imagination Road and Michelle @ Because Reading. This challenge is a little different, because we can choose what our personal goals are in order to do well. One of my resolutions is to buy books I have bought – not ARCs, and the reason for that is that I read so many ARCs last year I kind of left my own books hidden on my kindle. I also want to listen to more audiobooks, and do more discussion posts. I haven’t listened to more than one audiobook so far, but we’re also still in the first month. And I really want to write more reviews for the books I own – that is another thing I neglected in 2014. My final resolution is not bookish – I want to stop smoking! And for almost three weeks, I did stop smoking in January 🙁 until exams were closing in and I completely fell off the wagon. Hopefully, I’ll be able to re-motivate myself before the year is over.

Here is a list of my owned books read and reviewed so far this year:

  1. Review: Soul Walker – Robyn Jones
  2. Review: In Too Deep – Kathryn Shay
  3. Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

COYER Winter 2014 - (un)Conventional Bookviews

#COYER has been going strong since December 20th, and as usual, Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun and Michele @ Because Reading are our hosts to help us clean out our e-readers. I have decided to aim for 35 books before March 6th, and I’m on track for that so far. Here’s a list of my COYER books so far in this challenge:

  1. Review: Home – J.A. Huss
  2. Giveaway and Blogtour Review: Canning the Center – Tara Lain
  3. Review: When – Victoria Laurie
  4. Review: A SEAL’s Secret – Tawny Weber
  5. Review: The Cowboy Kiss – Kristen James
  6. Review: Five Weeks – Dannika Dark
  7. Review: My Billionaire – M.J. Bradley

  28. Review: Three, Two, One – J.A. Huss

2015 TBR Pile Challenge - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe 2015 TBR Reading Challenge, hosted by Bookish,  is another great challenge, where we read books we added to our physical or virtual shelves (owned books) before 2015. No new releases are allowed, and this is also a good thing for me, as I buy lots and lots of books every year, and sadly some of those books collect dust on my shelves rather than me reading them. Here’s a list of the books I’ve read for the 2015 TBR Reading Challenge so far this year:

  1. Review: Ruin – C.J. Scott
  2. Review: More than Friends – Aria Grace
  3. Review: Soul Walker – Robyn Jones
  4. DNF Review: Hex Hall – Rachel Hawkins
  5. Review: Hard Knocks – Lori Foster
  6. Review: Embracing the Wolf – Felicity Heaton
  7. Review: NightDrake – Lara Adrian
  8. Review: In Too Deep – Kathryn Shay

  1. Nice going Lexxie! I am always amazed by how many books you manage to read. I am doing pretty well with most of my challenges, but am behind with some others. I managed to read my book for the Reading Assigment challenge this month, so I am on track with that one. Only read one new release so far, but I am thinking more will follow soon, I choose new releases for next months My To-Be Read list meme, so I at least get another new release read next month.

    • I was afraid for my Reading Assignment Challenge for this month… It took me so long to read what I read of Hex Hall, I just couldn’t get into the story at all.
That’s a great idea, Lola, combining challenges is always a good thing.

    • Yeah, it was a good start, but now I’m not at all motivated anymore, Laura. You’re right, we have quite similar goals, even if we could set our own.
      Have a great weekend!

    • Thank you for cheering me on, Lily 🙂 That’s partly why I think challenges are so good, it’s motivating, and sometimes, I do need the cheering on 🙂

    • Thank you Alma! I hope I haven’t aimed too high, but if I have, that’s OK. I know what you mean about stressing to catch up, though, so I will either have to be very careful, or I’ll just have to adjust along the way.

  2. I don’t know what my computer did just then but I don’t think my comment went through before. Sorry if you’re getting it twice!

Wow! You’ve done amazingly well! Congratulations Lexxie! Haha I can see why you created your own new release themed challenge. You would have finished mine by the time half the year was is a great readin month for you!

    • It may have been my blog being weird, too, Olivia, because it sometimes kind of has a tiny ‘time-out’ and I am trying to fix it but I’m not a web expert at all.
Thank you for being so gracious about the New Release Challenge, Olivia! I hope I sent some people your way, and I have linked to you on the Challenge page as well.
Have a terrific Sunday, and happy reading.

    • I understand that completely, Alison. That’s why I have some challenges for which I can apply the same books, so I won’t be completely overwhelmed.
      Happy reading.

    • Yeah, because I participate in several challenges, it is easier to have a single post, that way everything is in the same place 🙂
      Have a great week, Sarah!

  3. You’re making great progress, Lexxie!! I’m going to cheer for you to read a few more books you own, though. 😉 I just realized when reading this that I still haven’t signed up for your 2015 New Release Challenge…and I actually have read a few for that already! *sigh* So behind…. I’ll try to get that posted this weekend.

Hope you’re having a fabulous Friday! *big hugs*

    • True, I do need to read more of the books I own 😉 I’m actually reading one right now, so my next progress post will be better.
I look forward to you signing up for the New Release Challenge, my dear.
      *BIG HUGS*
