2016 Challenges sign-up

I love bookish challenges, and I’ve found some new to add to my 2016 challenges, as well as those I have already participated in before. I have decided to do one single sign-up post for all the challenges I plan on participating in, just to make it easier for myself to have one place to look at. I will have separate challenge pages for keeping up during the year, though.

Of course, I’m participating in the challenge I am co-hosting with Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews Oh My! The 2016 New Release Challenge. The sign-ups are open until February 15th, 2016. For the 2016 New Release Challenge, I am going for New Release Veteran and 45+ books.

Other challenges I’m participating in for 2016:

My Soul Called Life

2016 Dystopia Reading Challenge

This challenge is hosted by Claudia @ My Soul Called Life and Tracy @ Cornerfolds. As the name of the challenge states, the aim is to read dystopia novels in 2016, no matter when the novels were released, nor what format they are in – e-book, kindle, audio, paperback etc.

The challenge guidelines are as follows:

This challenge will run from January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016
You can join anytime before October 15, 2016
Books must be read and reviewed in 2016
Audiobooks, re-reads, short stories, and crossovers are fine
You don’t have to be a book blogger to participate! You can track your progress on Goodreads, Shelfari, Booklikes, etc.
Sign-up by using the designated Linky tool below with your post, shelf, etc. and leave a comment letting us know what your personal goal is
Link up your reviews each month via the provided Linky!

I am aiming for the Leader Badge, reading 16+ dystopia books next year. I have created a shelf on Goodreads with all the books I own that could count for the challenge have been added.

2016 Homework Challenge - (un)Conventional Bookviews

2016 Reading Assignment Challenge

I failed miserably at the 2015 challenge, but the rules have been slightly changed, so I want to give it another go for next year. This challenge is hosted by Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun and Michelle @ Because Reading. The gist of the challenge is to make a fixed list of books to read in 2016, 12, 24, 36 or 48 books, and each month we have to read one, two, three or four books from that list. It sounds easy, right, however, it really isn’t. For eight months, I did great, and then, I completely fell off the wagon.

The Rules:

  • The 2016 Reading Assignment Challenge runs from January 1st to December 31st 2016.
  • You may sign up anytime between now and July 1st. You may only participate for the months AFTER you sign up (so if you sign up in February, January doesn’t count)
  • Commit to reading 1, 2, 3, or 4 books a month and MAKE A LIST of the SPECIFIC books you will read in 2016. This is the point of the challenge: you’re committing to reading a set list of books and a certain number of them each month. It’s your chance to finally hold yourself accountable for those books you keep promising you’ll read! You may read any genre or any format (i.e., eBook, Audiobook, Paperback, Hardcover). But they must be published before January 1, 2016 and they must be at least 100 pages.
  • Pick a level and make your list. REMEMBER: you’re committing to not just those books, but that number of books a month. You CANNOT read them all in one month.

The rest of the rules can be found in the hostess links above.

I am going to go with level 3 for 2016, which means I have to read three books each month from this list on Goodreads.

2016 HW Challenge books - Challenges

I had to edit my list, as “Just Fall” is only released in March 2016… I already have an ARC, though, but the rules are the rules. I’ve swapped it for Sweep in Peace by Ilona Andrews.

2016 Audiobook Challenge

This challenge is hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I participated in 2015, too, but I didn’t make my goal of 12 books. I’m not despairing, though, and I will try to do better next year, still going with 12 audiobooks, which is one audiobook per week. The Audiobook Challenge runs from January 1st through December 31st 2016, and the only important thing is to listen to audiobooks.

blogger shame
2016 Blogger Shame Review Challenge

This challenge is hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup. I hadn’t thought seriously about joining this challenge, but when I made a list of review books I already have on my kindle, I figured I really, really should. I am aiming for 20 ARCs that I have had on my TBR list for over six months. Here are the rules:

Challenge begins Jan 1, 2016 and ends Dec 31, 2016
All review books that have been on your review list for 6+ months count.
Any book format counts.
Crossovers with other challenges are okay.
You pick the number of books for your individual challenge.
Once a quarter there will be a wrap up post to show off progress!
(sign up post–now through jan or whenever you join)
quarter 1 post–end of March
quarter 2 post–end of June
quarter 3 post–end of September
quarter 4 post–end of Dec wrap up post
There’s a FB group for our challenges this year if you’d like to join for support, suggestions and event updates! Just go HERE

LGBTQIA challenge

I found this challenge rather late, but it’s one that’s really important in my eyes! I believe in love, no matter what shape it comes it! As long as the people (or characters) involved are adult and consenting, I want to enjoy the romance and the beauty of two people who discover that they are loved, and that they can be happy!

This challenge is hosted by Bekka and Alexia @ Pretty Deadly Reviews, the rules are as follows :

  • This challenge will run from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2016.
  • The book must contain an LGBTQIA main character.
  • Books must be read and reviewed. The review can be any kind of review you want, traditional, a few sentences, a vlog review. Anything goes.
  • Backlist books also count as part of this challenge.
  • There are going to be different levels that correspond to the colors of the rainbow:
    • Red = 5 books
    • Orange = 6-12 books
    • Yellow = 13-20 books
    • Green = 21- 30 books
    • Blue = 31- 40 books
    • Purple = 41- 50 books

I am aiming for green this year, even if I would love to go for purple!! That is my favorite color, after all! You can check out the sign-up post in the link above 🙂

COYER Summer 2106 - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The Summer COYER challenge has three amazing hostesses, Michelle @ Because Reading, Berls @ Fantasy Is More Fun and Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews Oh My! You can wait a while before you sign up, but I really advice you to do so before June 18th, which is the COYER start date. There is a lot of fun going on during this challenge, and some of my best blogger buddies are participating every time. There are twitter chats, a Facebook group, giveaways and lots of fun commenting happening for the duration, and who knows, you might find your new blogger bestie thanks to this challenge 🙂 There is also an official COYER website from now on.

My goal is to read 60 books between June 18th and September 2nd, and I want a good chunk of those books to be ARCs – either those I was lucky enough to get at BEA, or those I have received from Netgalley and Edelweiss. I’m so excited about this challenge, because I always have a lot of fun, and manage to read and review a lot of books.

Are you participating in many challenges for 2016? If you have one you think I might be interested in, please let me know in the comments… If I can manage to add a couple of more, I’ll do my best to keep up.

  1. This is a great idea, Lex, to combine all your sign up posts into one…why didn’t I think of that?!? Oh well…too late. 😉 Oh, and I know you’ll be shocked to know that several, and I do mean several, of your Reading Assignment books are on my physical shelves. But they aren’t on my HW list. (of course, I haven’t finished my list yet) Good luck with your challenges in 2016. I know you’ll kick ass and take names…and I’ll be on the reading alongside you, cheering all the way!

    • LOL I just couldn’t think about writing several posts at once… and if I add more challenges, I’ll simply add them to this post 😀 Lazy is what I am! I hope you’ll find at least one or two books from my HW list to put on your HW list, Brandee – because you know what that means, right? Buddy-read!!!
Thanks for stopping by, my dear, and for promising to cheer me on. *BIG HUGS*

  2. Best of luck to you with your challenges. Aside from my standard goal of 200 books on goodreads, the only challenge I am participating in is Sarah’s (The YA Book Traveller) Rock My TBR one. Last year I did okay on my challenges, but I abandoned them (even if it was just the record keeping part) because life got hectic. But the Rock My TBR one is something I’m already working on, so I thought why not.

  3. You made my day Lexxie!!! I’ve been looking for a dystopian challenge but haven’t seen one yet. Adding it to my ever growing list. Thanks for sharing.

  4. So glad to have you joining the fun Lexxie! 🙂 I’m looking into possibly joining the 2016 Reading Assignment Challenge, but it looks daunting! I know I’ll be joining the 2016 New Release Challenge for sure though 😉

    • The Reading Assignment Challenge is fun, Claudia, and for next year, we’ll be able to start over each quarter 🙂 I really look forward to the dystopia challenge 🙂 I’m sure that one will be fun, too, and I’ve added some dystopias to my assignment challenge 😉

  5. I signed up for YA Dystopia and Reading Assignment challenges. I like your book list, some of them are in my TBR too but I don’t know if I can read that many. 2015 has been sucky for me in the reading department, but I try to squeeze in a book or two from time to time. Good luck!

  6. That’s a lot of challenges! I’m cutting back this year, but I did sign up for the Blogger Shame challenge. Boy, do I need it! Good luck to you with all of yours. The Reading Assignment Challenge sounds really tough!
