Welcome to my stop on the Walled blogtour, hosted by Xpresso Booktours. I also participated in the Carrier blogtour a few months ago, and I was amazed by how twisted the story was, and how relevant to our society. Today, I am sharing my review of Walled, some of my favorite quotes as well as a giveaway where you can win some fantastic prizes!
My Walled review:
Walled is every bit as emotional and strong as Carrier was. Naya shows just how far she is willing and able to go to save herself, her children, and all the people living under Auberge’s rule. Once she realizes that living in hiding is not truly better than living in hell, she agrees to Sonya’s plan to shut down the headquarter, and then break the wall so the citizens can finally be free to do what they want. Not many things end up being what she expected, though, and it’s a tough road she and Ric have to travel. Lives are lost, allies gained and the terror isn’t over by a long shot.
Filled with excitement, and some of the same characters I already knew and loved, Walled is a fast-paced story that shows how an uprising comes into being. When people understand that their sole hope for survival is through a civil war or a revolution, something happens with them, and this was really well done in this story. Naya continued to amaze me, because while she could be very strong in many situations, she would feel extremely weak and inadequate in other. She never gave up, though, until the very end she was ready to fight for freedom at the cost of her life.
Both human trafficking, oppression, poverty, and some very violent scenes build the narrative of Walled, and I think it was all necessary to move the story forward, and for me to believe the things that were happening, as well as the final outcome. Well written, in first person past tense, we see most of the story through Naya’s eyes, and I thought it was a kind of poetic justice in the way things unfolded from start to finish.
If you’re ready for a very strong, but quite hard and important story, you should get your hands on The Line series, two books that completely changed the way I see certain things, and what it might take to make sure a whole population might finally be safe, and ultimately happy.

It truly is an amazing story, Giselle! I was pretty sure Walled would appeal to me, since it continued to follow Naya whom I really fell for in Carrier.
I read a guest post by Anne Tibbets earlier this morning, and was hopping to come across a review for Walled during my rounds, so way to deliver, Lexxie! This series seems like it’s a New Adult game-changer. Must read!
Yes, there are some pretty tough issues in this series, Carmel, but it’s all so well done! I enjoyed the characters and how they developed over the span of two books, and the politics, and what had to be done to make changes got to me in a big way.
Lexxie, this sounds so intense and soooo good! I know I added Carrier to my tbr following your review of it. I’m so happy that Walled was every bit as satisfying. I like that Tibbets has taken relevant themes and put them against a futuristic setting. Naya sounds like my kind of heroine – one that would do anything to protect her children. I just might have to one-click the first two in this series before the end of the year. You know, so I already own them for the read what you own challenge. 😉
