feature and follow 2013 - Parajunkee and Alison Can Read

Feature and Follow #34

YAY it’s Friday!

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. I prefer being followed via Linky or Google+; or you can like my facebook page. If you prefer e-mail or RSS, that’s good as well. I have been able to add GFC back on my blog, even if I’m still on WordPress YAY!

As you can imagine, this is a great way to get to know your fellow bloggers better, as well as a way to find new blogs, and be seen by more people yourself. Now on to this week’s question:

Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you’ve done, that as you gained more experience you were like — oops?

I’m still wearing my newbie T-shirt, kind of, as I only started blogging in June last year. But I don’t think I’ve done any big mistakes. I have posted a photo of a hot guy a couple of times, and I’m not sure I should have – even the photos of actors that are found in google images certainly belong to someone. But I really, really look forward to seeing everybody’s answer this week – maybe that will even help me from not making a mistake in the future!

What about you? Did you do a oops while you were still new? Please share!

Thanks for stopping by and joining in the Feature and Follow fun! Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend

    • Thanks for stopping by Kaykay 🙂 I agree, it’s a little scary to know we might be breaking the rules with images. Now, I’m trying to only use my own, or those shared by other bloggers with a link-back to them.

    • I think it’s good that we are careful, but it’s a little sad that we kind of have to be afraid of it 🙁

Thanks for stopping by Jessica! Have a wonderful weekend yourself.

  1. The use of images is difficult. I know the copyright belongs to someone else, etc. I personally try to track down the original copyright holder, but if I can’t then I pass on it. I have a few casting options I’d like to do with actors, but I haven’t yet because of the whole copyright issue.

    • I have actually used pictures of two of my favorite actors a while ago, and I didn’t know then that I might not have the right to do so.

Thanks for stopping by Jessica 🙂

    • Yes, that’s exactly it! Legal ramifications would be so scary. This is a hobby, and I think that if we’re really acting in good faith, we’ll be OK. Also, if someone would ever write me to tell me I had used their copyrighted image, I would feel very bad, and I would immediately take it away from my post.
      Thanks for stopping by Tiffany.

    • I think that at least some actor photos belong to the person who took the photo. And with google images, it’s not very easy to know which ones are and which ones aren’t…
Thanks for stopping by Tanya 🙂

  3. Yea, I can relate! I need to look more into the rules of using Google images. I’ve used 2 or 3. But I looked first to see if there was ownership attached before I used them . Hopefully I’ve done okay with the 2 or 3 images I’ve used. 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

    • I didn’t even think about ownership of the few images I used. But I now know to be careful with that as well.

Thanks for stopping by Tamara 🙂 enjoy your weekend, too!

  4. Great answer! Mine had to do with photos too. I’ve posted actors pics a time or two as well, but never got in trouble. It’s one of those things: 99% of the time you’ll probably be okay, but use that one picture that causes trouble and you open up a world of hurt. Great answer! My FFs are at LKHill or Musings on Fantasia. Happy Friday!

    • I ususally don’t use gifs in my reviews, but sometimes, I’d love to share a photo of how a character looks in my mind…

Thanks for stopping by Megan 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend.

    • LOL, I think that’s why I don’t post hotties in each and every one of my reviews.

Thanks for stopping by today, Rain 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend.

    • LOL, I think it’s actually important to slack a little! This is supposed to be a hobby, right?

      Thanks for stopping by Shane:)

    • Thanks for stopping by Jackie 🙂 I would like to post what I think a character looks like every now and then – but I don’t because I find it difficult to know whether the picture is copyrighted or not.

  5. I’ve been here for a few years now and in the beginning I didn’t really understand the whole comment system so i just didn’t comment. Now I do as often as I can. This is the first time I have seen this follow Friday hop, I am new to your blog and I’ll be checking out as much of this as I can. Have a great weekend.

    • Welcome to the #FF Summer, it’s nice to meet you 🙂 I love getting comments, and I also love discovering new blogs.

I hope you’ll enjoy commenting more as well. Thanks for stopping by.

    • Yes, I agree, it is difficult. Hopefully, just having the book-cover provides enough with my bookreviews.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. haha I like that: ”still wearing the newbie shirt” I’m still wearing it too for sure, since I started in September last year! The picture one I’ve done too but now I try to link to the source. Thanks for sharing Lexxie & happy Friday 🙂

    • Oh, I definitely request too many books from Netgalley as well. And I’m still amazed when I get accepted 🙂

      Enjoy your weekend, too!

  7. Hi! I’m a new follower by email and GFC. I love this Feature and Follow meme–I wish I had done this a year ago! It’s awesome to meet you, and I like your answer. I didn’t know about the problems that can come with posting images from Google, for instance, and so I’ve stopped doing that. I’ve heard of a couple of sites where bloggers are welcome to use photos for their blogs. I can’t remember the names of them at the moment, though. I’m not much help, huh, lol.

    Here’s my My FF

    • Thanks for stopping by Jennifer 🙂 This meme is so good, I have met so many nice bloggers thanks to it. And it’s always fun to see what answers everybody comes up with 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by Damyanti 🙂 I think once we like to read a blog, we continue reading it – even if we don’t know in advance when something will be posted.

I follow a lot of blogs via RSS, so I only get a notification when there’s something new.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Brandy 🙂 I always love to see what everybody comes up with during the Feature and Follow 🙂
