Feature and Follow #47 – Have you broken up with a series?

YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; or you can like my facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.

This week’s question is

Have you broken up with a series?

I haven’t completely broken up with this series yet, but I have been to see my attorney to see if it would be an easy thing to do… It’s Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires. It’s very sad, but it’s true, ever since Hard Bitten (Book #4) I just haven’t been able to enjoy this series anymore. What happened in Hard Bitten was devastating – and then, in Drink Deep (Book #5) it just felt pointless. I haven’t stopped reading it yet, but I don’t have it on pre-order anymore, and I don’t think I will exactly rush to get the next book either…

A series I have completely broken up with is Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick… I didn’t really enjoy Hush, Hush, but I still went on to read Crescendo and Silence… I’m not sure why – but now, I’ve broken up with it. I’m not going to spend any more time on this series, too many things in it bugged me – especially the way I didn’t think any of the characters grew, and that the same plots were rehashed over and over…

What about you? Have you broken up with a series? Were you sad about it? Do you feel better now?

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

    • Some of my best friends totally love the Hush, Hush series, so we’ve had quite a few discussions about it. I just couldn’t… You might still like, it, though Liesel.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • I hope you’ll like Chicagoland Vampires, Naomi! I loved the first few books, and I know a lot of people have continued to love it after I stopped 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Yeah I’ve heard mixed things on Hush, Hush and the series. I read it all though. I still liked it. Chicagoland Vampires is still one of my fave reads though, but I understand you’re not liking what Chloe did. I don’t really care for it myself because it’s just too weird, but I’m glad it happened!

    Here’s my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

    • I’m glad you’ve enjoyed both Hush, Hush and Chicagoland Vampires, it’s always better to read books you like than not.

Thanks for stopping by Jessica 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend yourself!

  2. Gayatri

I have read Hush Hush and liked it! I have yet to read Chicagoland Vampires but there are series that I have broken up with. I couldn’t continue reading The Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard after book 12. It was just plain torture. Also I gave up on Fallen after the 2nd book. Also I hated the first book in Glimmerglass so I didn’t read any further in that series!!

    • Oh, I forgot about Fallen! That was pretty painful as well, I agree 🙂 I’m glad you liked Hush, Hush, though – no fun reading when you don’t like what’s going on.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • I did the same you did – and I actually have no idea why I even read the 3rd book, as the first two only got 2 stars from me…

Thanks for stopping by Eveline 🙂

  3. I haven’t read Hush, Hush yet, though I have it on my Kindle after a sale.

I also haven’t read the Chicagoland Vampires, either. I think it sucks when a series loses your interest/respect. But, it happens.

I’ve heard mixed things about Hush, Hush, as well. I decided to try it out anyway. As far as angel things go, I figure it can’t be any worse than how I felt about the Fallen series, yet I saw that one through to the end. =)

    • I also stopped reading Fallen… and I have friends who like both that and Hush, Hush 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Megan. Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Not read Chicago Land series but have wanted to try it, but never wanted to even try Hush, Hush series. Um I don’t think I intentionally break up with a series I just forget to read the next one because it takes so long for it to come out..lol. I need to organize my series reading better and write down the series and the books so I can remember…lol. 🙂

    • I haven’t exactly consciously broken up with Hush, Hush either – but I know I won’t be continuing to read it, as I copletely lost interest with it.

It’s funny that you forget about next books in series – I obsess about some – I can’t wait for the next book to come out, and am totally excited when I get my hands on a new part of a series I love.

Thanks for stopping by Stormi 🙂

    • I know a lot of readers who loved Hush, Hush, but it certainly wasn’t for me. You should check it out if you’re interested – you might be among those who really enjoy it 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Athina. Have a wonderful weekend.

    • If you didn’t like book one, I really don’t think the next books would have saved it for you 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Abria.

  5. I haven’t read either series yet, but I do have the first Chicagoland Vampires on my Nook ready to read. I’ve heard about that devastating event and I need to psyche myself up for the heartache before I dive into a marathon read of the series. Thanks for visiting Lexxie! Have a great weekend 🙂

    • I think it’s a really good idea to have all the released books when you start reading this one 🙂 I did that with KMM’s Fever series, so I wasn’t as devastated as most by an event in one of those books…

Thanks for coming over, Traci 🙂

  6. I am on the verge of breaking up with the House of Night series. I LOVED it when it first started and still loved up until the last book. There was an end in sight and it was thwarted yet AGAIN! The thing is I’m stuck I need to find out how this ends and who remains standing, so I will push through the last few books.

    • I know what you mean, Xyra… I’m not actually sure I read the last book that was released, but I think I own it.

      Thanks for stopping by! *hugs*

    • If you decide to read them, try to have as many as possible ready and next to you as possible – that way, you don’t have to wait when the horrible cliffhangers happen…

      Thanks for spopping by Bieke!

  7. I saw over at ‘Love, Literature, Art and Reason’ that you broke up with the Bluebloods series. Me too! And even I forgot about it; it was so long ago.
And your mentioning Hush, Hush reminded me of another series that I gave up on – The Premonition series. Somehow, I cant seem to stick to anything with angels. But I like The Daughter of Smoke & Bone series. That one’s good! 🙂

    • I have actually never heard of The Premonition series, Fahima. And I haven’t started The Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet, but I have it on my TBR, and I also have the first book on my kindle.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  8. I fogot all about Chicagoland. I read the first three and then my sister was bawling her eyes out over the fourth one. She’s still devoted to the series. Much to her dismay, I moved on. “You can’t quit, Rob. It gets better.” “You cried like a little girl, Shan.” “Did not.” “The bright red ugly cry.” “Turd.” I’m with you on Hush Hush, though I can’t remember being annoyed by the mom as much as by Nora. And I thought I liked Patch (all but his name-grrh). Funny that you kept reading the series. Have a great weekend! (Are you a day ahead over there?)

    • Yeah, well, I did continue to read, but only because I was watching for the same awesomeness I found in the first three books… I didn’t cry all that much at the end of book 4, but I was really mad at the end of book 5…

Not a whole day ahead – depending on where in the US you are, I’m between 6 and 9 hours ahead 🙂 And since I am off now, I tend to think my weekend start on Friday morning 😉

    • Thanks for stopping by Sarah 🙂 If you do decide to read Hush, Hush, I hope you’ll be among those who love it!

    • You know, you might love Hush, Hush, it’s not because I didn’t you should be scared to try it!

Thanks for stopping by Marie 🙂

    • I’m glad you liked it better with Crescendo! I thought it was just a big re-hash of Silence, with Nora’s little problem…

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Yeah, It’s sad when a book or a series doesn’t catch us and keep us interested, but there are so many different books out there who are waiting for our attention.

Thanks for stopping by Kaykay 🙂 I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend.

    • I think that Chicagoland has a lot of promise, and I loved the first few books. If you have them all waiting at the same time and read them without the one year pause, I think things would be a lot more tolerable!

      Thanks for stopping by Nicole.

    • If you do get to Chicagoland, my advice is to have all the books lined up!

Thanks for stopping by Jaclyn 🙂 I’m glad I could make you smile (and laugh?) today 😉

      Happy Reading.

  9. I’ve heard A LOT of people felt similarly about the Hush Hush series, probably a big reason why I never took the plunge and read them, even though I was initially tempted to – the feeling has passed lol >.< And the Chicagoland Vampires; it seems like people either love or hate that series too so you're not alone there either. Breaking up with a series' sucks but sometimes you have no choice! Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • It’s really sad, I think when a series starts out really good and then just isn’t anymore. I haven’t completely given up on Chicagoland yet.

      Have a great day 🙂
