Feature and Follow #69 – Unusual or New Thing

YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; or you can like my facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.

Tell us at least one new or unusual thing you’ve done in 2013

Yeah, I know some of you posted about a new or unusual thing you’ve done in 2013 last week, but since I had already prepared my post for the Hard Sell, I didn’t change it when I saw the change. If you’d rather read about that, you can find my last week’s Feature and Follow post here.

So I’ve done a few things that are both new and a little unusual, at least for me, in 2013.

Tattoo - (un)Conventional BookviewsIn April, I got my first tattoo – my husband and I both got the infinity sign on our ring fingers, because we thought that would be a nice thing to do. Because I loved it so much, and because I’ve been thinking about tattoos for a long time, I got a second tattoo in October, I have all my children’s names as a bracelet around my left wrist, with a heart between each name. I’m very happy with both my tattoos, I think they’re gorgeous! And just to poke some fun at my dear husband, I have to mention that he actually fainted when he got his infinity sign done…

This fall, I alsoLexxie Purple Highlights - (un)Conventional Bookviews finally took the plunge and got purple highlights in my hair. And I have more or less shaved off the hair at the sides and back of my head, while the rest of my hair is semi-short like in my avatar. I enjoy this punk-rock style and now, I’m wondering why I didn’t do this a long, long time ago.

What about you? Please share either your hard sell or your new and/or unusual thing post with me in the comments so I can come and visit you as well 🙂
Thanks for stopping by today, have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. WOOOOOOW! I am so jealous with your courage to have a tattoo, Lexxie. My brother and my sister have tattoos too but I don’t think I could stand the needle pricks. Gaaah. You and your husband are both cool people but I think you already know that right? Hahahaha.

And the purple highlight suits you. I don’t think I have the guts to have my hair dyed. Yeah, I know I’m as boring as a slug. How I love this post because I got to know you more. 😀

And re: your question, the only unusual thing that happened to me for 2013 is that I started blogging. Hahaha.

Have a great weekend, Lexxie. And thanks for sharing.:D

    • LOL Charlotte, I waited until I was over 40 before I got my tattoos, so you still have plenty of time, my dear 🙂 I love my purple highlights, it makes me feel young and hip 😉

      Thanks for stopping by, Charlotte!

  2. Wow, Lexxie! First of all, I love them all! And I admire your courage to do these things you’ve wanted to do for so long. 🙂 You really are inspiring me to do my tattoo. 🙂 I’ve gotta show my oldest daughter your hair…she’s been wanting to put purple in her hair too.

Thanks for sharing inspiration, my friend! Happy Friday and happy reading! *hugs*

  3. I love the tats! The infinity tattoo that you each have is so sweet, romantic, plain cool. The new cut and color rocks. I’ve been wanting some color forever. Heck, I went on a date with a guy a long time ago because I loved the particular shade of green he dyed his hair. You and Donnie Darko Girl are inspiring. Poor hubby with the fainting problem. hehe. I didn’t faint with the tattoo on my foot, but when the guy made the first dot, I yelped and told him to stop. If it hadn’t been for my mom and sister teasing me I would have had an adorable little dot for the rest of my life. I have a cartoony, girly, unimportant turtle instead! Dangit.

Oh, I read and loved Starry Night. Just had to tell you.

    • LOL, can you imagine if your tat was simply a tiny dot? It doesn’t really hurt that much, I think, it’s just a little uncomfortable.

Yeah, I thought it was romantic to get infinity ring tattoos, and we’re both happy to have them now 🙂 Go ahead with the hair color, too, if you don’t like it, at least the hair will grow out!

I’m so glad you loved Starry Night 🙂 It’s an awesome Christmas romance, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by, Robyn 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday!

    • It wasn’t bad at all, Annette. Of course, my husband doesn’t quite agree with that statement, though 😉

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • I bet it was a little nerve-wrecking for a while before you let your parents know about your tattoo, eh?

Thanks for stopping by, Pam 🙂

  4. Great tattoos Lexxie! I have one on the inside of my right ankle…it’s a sun that I designed. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain though (so getting it on my ankle wasn’t the most pain free) so I haven’t gotten any others. My hair is pretty short too. I like to just be able to put some texturing gel in it and mess it up. A couple years ago I used to spike it up all messy, but it’s a little tamer now.

    Have a great weekend sweetie!

    • Oh, a self-designed sun sounds awesome Traci! I can understand that you don’t really want another if you thought it hurt, and I bet the inside of the ankle is more sensitive than around the wrist.

YAY for short, messy hair-styles 🙂 I love being able to change my look with just a few twists of my har.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

    • Thanks Lindy 🙂 I love the infinity signs! And of course, having my kids’ names in a bracelet is awesome. I have four kids, aged between 8 and 18, and they are the lights of my life as well 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.

  5. I can’t say that this was my best year. I lost my cat (who was like a child to me) and graduated school, just to find that the job market laughed in the face of my degree. However, I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, do I will say that I started blogging for the first time in my life.

    • I know *hugs* very sad about your cat, Lyn. And hey, at least you graduated, right? Even if your degree isn’t opening all the golden doors for you right now, you still have it 🙂

Blogging is great! And I’m very happy you started blogging with Kara, even if I was stalking you on Goodreads before that.

      Thanks for stopping by.
