Do you read more than 1 book at a time, and if so, how, like a certain amount of pages per book before moving on to the next one in the queue? – Suggested by Words I Write Crazy

I often read more than one book at a time, actually, both books I read for myself, and books for class. I usually have at least two books I’m reading at the same time, and that’s often one I’ve chosen and one that’s for class. But I frequently read two or more books just for me at the same time, too, mostly in different genres, depending on my mood.

What about you? Do you read more than one book at a time?

Thanks for stopping by today, have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. Hi Lexxie,
Hope you’ve had a great week. I love your new meme, Thirst Thursday and your answer yesterday was fab 🙂 I remember when I was doing my degree, the amount of books I had to read was crazy. I’m not sure I could have run a book blog back then! I am reading 3 books at the moment, but I think that’s because none of them have really grabbed me.
    Happy Friday!

    • Thanks for the compliment towards Thirsty Thursday, Kirsty 🙂

I think that reading books for me, and blogging is what keeps me sane while getting my degree, actually.

Sorry none of your current books were able to completely grab your attention. Have a fantastic Friday.

  2. I usually avoid reading two books at a time, but if I do, it’s because there’s one on my tablet and one in paperback – depends on the circumstances (and the tablet battery lol !)

    • There’s nothing worse than suddenly running low on battery while reading a good book, Iza. Have a fantastic Friday 🙂

  3. Once upon a time—when I was studying—I always divided my reading time between books to read for exams and those for just the pure pleasure of reading. Since I’m study-free, it has been another matter entirely… I can’t for the life of me bring myself to read more than one book at a time. I personally prefer to focus my attention to the story I’m currently reading and being completely absorbed by it. It really works great for me and I extremely enjoy my reads this way 🙂
Hope you have a lovely weekend, Lexxie!

    • My different books are usually not in the same format 🙂 I tend to take a lot longer to listen to audiobooks for some reason.
I usually manage to be absorbed in my pleasure-reading, that’s not always the case for my class-reads, though, and so it’s really nice to have something nice waiting for me to keep my mind happy.
Have a lovely weekend yourself, Silvia 🙂

    • I am usually only really into one at a time, but for classes, I just kind of have to do it. And no matter what I have to read, I’m always resisting a little bit because I don’t have a choice 🙂
      Have a fantastic Friday, Jessica

  4. Ah, the ol’ college days when they thought students were capable of reading an average of 150 pages a week, from at least 2 different books, in addition to everything else! I mean, I do that all the time nowadays with fiction books, but having to read 150 pages of boring textbooks was torture! They should turn textbooks into action-packed fiction novels, at least that would make things more interesting.

    • I need to do more buddy-reads, too, Stephanie! It’s so much fun to have someone to discuss stuff with as it happens 🙂
      Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  5. haha I am currently reading hummm lets see… 5 books at a time? all different genres… depends on my mood really, it switches so randomly that I feel like I need to read more then one. I’d probably get through them faster if I stuck to one but.. well, if one of them really hooks my attention I tend to plow through it for the most part, otherwise, I read 10-20% at a time.

    • LOL Lily! I’m such a mood-reader, too. And having different genres going on is always good. At the same time, if I’m completely immersed in the story, I’ll just read through 🙂

    • It’s true that listening to a book and reading a book are two different experiences 🙂 My week has been really good, thank you, Carmel! Teaching was great, and now it’s the winter vacation for one week before I go back to my own classes at Uni as well 🙂

  6. Lexxie, I hope your week has been epic! *g* I always love coming to visit your blog and seeing what your thoughts are, because they’re so insightful and today you’re kind of like me in a way. Although, the only thing I didn’t quite as much when I was in college was reading for extracurricular when I had assigned reading. I think I was just so burned out from reading in general from the studies that I just didn’t feel like reading anything extra at the time. lol.
Happy Reading and Hopping Through!!! <3
    Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂

    • My week has been really good, Suz 🙂 Busy, fun and good. I just can’t read only what’s assigned to me, because it’s so hard for me to be told what to read 😀 I can totally understand being burned out from studies, though 🙂
      Have a wonderful weekend, too!

  7. I listen to two books at the time, not really at the same time…LOl but Most of the time I have more than one started it. But one always grabs me, then I only listen to that one until I’m done, and I mean don’t stop listening unless I’m at work then I can only do 20 mins at the time when I’m on break….LOL
It was the same for books, if a book grabbed me I didn’t know how to stop, so I wold sit there until I finished it and nothing got done around the house until I was done..LOL So audiobooks helped my obsessive behavior..just a little bit.

    • haha, I don’t actually read more than one book at the exact same time either, but I do have more than one book I have started.
Audiobooks are awesome! I’m getting really into listening to a good narrator 🙂
      have a great weekend Loupe:)

    • But you still manage to read quite a lot of books, Brandee, so you must be able to choose just the right one and stay with it 🙂
      *BIG HUGS*

  8. Haha I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one, but then again we are in the world of bookworms, and reading more than one book isn’t so surprising. I read two books, three if I’m bored or depending on my mood. Due to my work schedule, I usually pick up a book and have to read in between breaks, but sometimes the book doesn’t fit the mood anymore, so I end up choosing another book. Also, since I’m trying to finish my print book TBR pile, I read print and ebooks at the same period!
