It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Welcome to my first participation in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This meme hosted by Sheila @Β Book Journey and I thought it was great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?

surrender cover (un)Conventional BookviewsRight now, I’m still reading Surrender by Rhiannon Paille. I’m not sure why it’s taking me so long, because I really enjoy the world, the main characters, the magic and the story. I think the writing is a little bit off sometimes, and it is also a little wordy. I am advancing pretty nicely, though, and I think my review will be up later this week.

immortal rules cover (un)Conventional BookviewsNext, I have so many books to choose from it’s almost scary! But I don’t think I’ll be able to resist the siren song coming from Julie Kagawa’s The Immortal Rules! I love Julie Kagawa very deeply… and no, I am really not a stalker :O

one night with a cowboy cover (un)Conventional BookviewsAfter that I am pretty sure some hot romance is in the cards with One Night with a Cowboy by Cat Johnson. The cover alone almost has me drooling, and I hope it will live up to my expectations!

What about you? What are you reading? Please do share πŸ™‚ I just might find even more books to add to my bloated TBR list.

  1. I’m currently reading A Clash of Kings, the second book in the Fire and Ice series. So many books to read, so little time! After this, I have at the top of my list Until Thanksgiving by Michael Rupured, Blue Notes by Shira Anthony, Secret Chemistry by Chris T. Kat and Captive Heart by Tali Spencer.

I really need to buy an e-reader lol

    • I already have an e-reader, but it’s not really helping – the physical pile is no longer visual, but my kindle is full of books I haven’t read yet.

Thanks for stopping by Julie πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Lexxie! Would you laugh at knowing that The Immortal Rules and One Night with a Cowboy are both on my TBR?!? πŸ˜‰ I haven’t made up my mind what I’m going to read next. I just finished Bring Me Back by Karen Booth – I really enjoyed it. I think you’d like it too! πŸ™‚ Happy Monday!

    • And I should thank you for making me add yet another book, should I? πŸ˜› *runs to Goodreads to add Bring Me Back*

Thanks for stopping by! We do tend to like the same books, so I’ll look forward to reading that, and also to see what you think of The Immortal Rules and One Night with a Cowboy πŸ™‚

  3. Jessica@a GREAT read

Very nice! I adore Julie’s books too! Still remember years ago…after the release of The Iron Queen, I got to meet her at a signing! She’s totally cool! She mentioned to me then that she had a vampire series in the works and I was so excited for it! It was really awesome too! Just read the second one about two weeks ago and loved it! Hope you enjoy the first one!

    Here’s my Monday Wrapup

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Lucky you! I’m pretty sure I’ll like Blood of Eden, the prequel was awesome.

Thanks for stopping by Jessica πŸ™‚ Have a great week!

  4. I’ve been picking my way through reading Beautiful Creatures. I am loving the book, but it’s kind of slow going for me right now. I wouldn’t dare to put up three books to read in a week because there’s no way that I can personally do it. Either I read slow or I don’t read as often as everybody else does. It doesn’t matter which it is, it’s still disappointing! lol

    • We all have different schedules, right? I read a lot both for pleaseure and for my classes, and I know I’m a very quick reader.

A few years ago, I didn’t read at all. When my children were all small, it was impossible to find the time, so I just stopped for several years.

Thanks for stopping by Becki πŸ™‚

  5. I enjoyed The Immortal Rules and I need to get the prequel as I had heard there was a short story out, and eARC ofthe second book in in my ereader waiting for me to get to hopefully soon.

I just finished Burn Mark as I just recently got an eARC of Witch Fire which is the second one so I thought I should hurry along with the first one.

Right now I am reading The Billionaires Redemption by Cindy Dees which so far is not bad. Then it will be either You Know What You Have To Do by Bonnie Shimko or The Spinster’s Secret by Emily Larkin. πŸ™‚

    Happy Reading!

    • The short is good, but I have no idea how it relates to the actual novels. I have the ARCs for both of the Blood of Eden books on my kindle πŸ™‚

The Spinster’s Secret-> just the title makes me want to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by Stormi πŸ™‚

    • Yes, The Lost Prince was really good, I tell you, JK is always able to make me feel something when I read her books.

Thanks for stopping by Teddyree. And it’s funny, I just noticed that you and Stormi (who commented just above you) have both posted a review of Highlander Most Wanted πŸ˜€

  6. Sometimes when I’m reading a very good book, one I’m really enjoying I STILL find that it’s taking me longer than usual to finish….although usually it ends up to be a final of a series, so I’m subconciously making it take longer. πŸ™‚

Enjoy your reads, and hope the planned reads are interesting for you as well.

    • Oh, I agree! Sometimes, I won’t even want to start the last book in a series… Jeri Smith-Ready’s WVMP series comes to mind. I have had Lust for Life on my kindle since the end of November – but I’m stubbornly letting it stay there for now. That way the series isn’t over for me yet πŸ˜€

      • Mardel

yup! And while it’s sad when a favorite series ends (and then we have to delay reading) the authors are being smart by ending things before they get tired and lame. So it’s always bittersweet.

Of course, now I’m kind of looking forward to re-reading a few of the five and six book series that I’ve saved because I liked them so much – like the Dante Valentine series (Lilith Saintcrow) and Marianne dePierres’ Nylon Angel series. It’s been a few years, so it might all be almost new for me. πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks for stopping by Jessie πŸ™‚ I started Julie Kagawa’s Immortal Rules today, and I love it so far!

You’ll have time to get to her one day πŸ™‚
