It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, or you can do so below, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?

I have been on vacation these past two weeks, and I read less, I also posted a lot less so there are two weeks’ worth of read books here:

Black Magic Sanction - (un)Conventional BookviewsBlack Magic Sanction – book 8 in Kim Harisson’s The Hollows series. If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m a huge fan of this series, and I think the books keep getting better and better as the series continues.

The Secret Race - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Secret Race is a non-fiction co-written by the cyclist Tyler Hamilton. He is very open and honest about cycling and doping in this book, and I was amazed at how deep the problem goes, as well as how the pressure is put on young cyclists by their teams in order to get them to take something to better their chances of winning.

Pale Demon - (un)Conventional BookviewsPale Demon shows how Rachel needs to come to terms with some important things about herself, and it’s very well done!

Wild Child - (un)Conventional BookviewsWild Child is an adult contemporary romance, with lots of steamy scenes, but it still manages to have a serious undertone, about reality TV, how it’s easy to judge people we don’t know, and the difficulty some have to trust others. My review of this ARC should be up later this week or early next week.

A Perfect Blood - (un)Conventional BookviewsA Perfect Blood – Rachel’s adventures continue, and there is always something to throw me off my game – I love that I can still be surprised after ten books!

Elite - (un)Conventional BookviewsElite is a NA contemporary suspense romance, complete with a boarding school, lots of money and brooding boys.

Right now, I’m not actually reading anything, I’m preparing a huge post for Wednesday for a Blog Tour I’m participating in – for the whole trilogy of Battle for Souls series by Ciara Knight. I will be reviewing all three books, and there’s a giveaway as well, so be sure to come back so you have a chance to win!

I haven’t decided what to read next, either – if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I really should be reading more ARCs, I went a little ‘click-request-happy’ a little while ago, and was accepted for almost all the books I wanted.

Here is a list of what has been going on here at (un)Conventional Bookviews these past two weeks:

  1. Shari

I am reading Far From Perfect, really enjoying the book. Getting ready to go to Hawaii in 2 weeks, so excited.

  2. I’m kind of in a reading slump right now. There are a half dozen books that I’m suppose to read by the end of the month, but I can’t get into any of them.

Well, except for THE OUTSIDE, but I’m pissed that my netgalley version isn’t formatted for Kindle. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to hook up my ipad to my Netgalley account, since reading a 300 page book from my computer isn’t an option with a toddler. So, I’ve gotten 100 pages read. It’s good but my eyes hurt from starting at the bright white screen.

Okay, rant over. How was your vacation?

  3. I think I’m caught up on Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series and just waiting for the next book. I like her too but somehow I ended up with 3 unread books in the series. Here is my Monday Report. Have a great week!

    • If you have books in the series you haven’t read, you should read them – I think they get better and better, and at the same time, there are some small new clues in each 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Kathy.

  4. You may have read less but you still managed to read more than me! 😉 I didn’t get to read as much on my vacation. I’m currently reading Time’s Forbidden Flower. I’m going to take time today to make a schedule of sorts for what I’m reading next. 🙂

I love that you went ‘click-request’ happy…I love it because we have that in common! LOL Enjoy your day, Lexxie!

    • Oh man, if I even try to make a schedule now, I think I’m gonna cry! I really should start reading some books for my linguistics classes as well, but somehow, I really don’t feel like it 😉

And what is Time’s Forbidden Flower? *runs to GR*

Yeah, that click-finger is not always a good friend *grins*

      Thanks for stopping by Brandee.

    • Larissa Ione is awesome! I hope you’ll enjoy her books as much as I do!

      *gasp* too much smut? 😛

Thanks for stopping by Braine 🙂

    • LOL! I try to make my reviews spoiler free, but it’s impossible sometimes to not include something that happened in prior books.

I love the Night Huntress series, are you enjoying Cat so far?

Thanks for stopping by Robyn 🙂

  5. Hope your vacation was totally fabulous, I always find it hard to get back in the swing of things after holidays lol. I’d recommend The Bone Season, it’s a complex dystopian/fantasy if you like that kind of thing.
Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

PS I’m up to book 6 in the Night Huntress series, I love Cat & Bones.

    • My vacation truly was amazing, but it is still nice to be home again. I agree, it’s not easy to get back into the swing of things at first, but I think I’m getting there. Good thing, too, since I need to get everything ready for the kids’ going back to school on Monday.

*sighs* YAY Cat and Bones <3

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • The last one is awesome! I can’t wait until the next one comes out in October 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Jennifer.
