its monday (un)Conventional BookviewsWelcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, or you can do so below, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?

Last week, I read the following books :

First Rule of SwimingThe First Rule of Swimming by Courtney Angely Brkic, which is a tender story about two sisters growing up on an island in Croatia, and what growing up was like during the last years of communist rule, and part of their family fled the country to the US. My review – it is a solid 5 star!

Bridge - (un)Conventional BookviewsBridge (Shade #2.5) By Jeri Smith-Ready is an in-between book in the Shade series, where the point of view is entirely Logan’s and everything happens after his death. He is struggling to get in touch with his brother who is depressed, and who is too old to see ghosts…

The Other Side of UsThe Other Side of Us is a kindle freebie – Harlequin romance I picked up a while back, thinking I’d get a slick, quick romance read, and I was so pleasantly surprised by the depth in this story – about two broken characters who were fighting to get their lives back together.

baby bonanzaBaby Bonanza is another kindle freebie from Harlequin romance, and this was exactly what I thought it would be, romantic, with a situation that started out as seemingly impossible and then ended happily… It was a nice read 🙂

Gravity - (un)Conventional BookviewsGravity by Dannika Dark – book four in the Mageri series I love so much – and I loved it all! I was a little upset with a decision early on, but it still made so much sense, and the whole story and the plot was masterfully done. My review will be posted on June 13 as part of a blog tour for this book.

Carniepunk - (un)Conventional BookviewsRight now, I am still plugging along with both Carniepunk – the anthology – which I love, but I get distracted a little because the stories are very short, and

Tight Quarters - (un)Conventional BookviewsI have just started Tight Quarters by Samantha Hunter. This is the last book I have left to read in the awesome Strangers on a Train series, and I hope it will live up to my expectations of hotness and humor.

Later this week, I plan to read

A Night to Surrender - (un)Conventional BookviewsA Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare, I love historical romance novels, with the beautiful gowns, the handsome lords, and the naughty things they do in hiding…

Oath Bound - (un)Conventional BookviewsOath Bound by Rachel Vincent – I already had this on my list a few weeks ago, but read some other books instead, but now I really want to read more about the world where people have strange powers, and are bound to masters through tattoos and spells!

With All my Soul - (un)Conventional BookviewsWith All my Soul is also by Rachel Vincent, and it has already been on my list as well, but since I’ve managed to read some other books that were the last in series I have loved, I will get to this as well. Even if I don’t want the story to end…

Girl's Night Out - (un)Conventional BookviewsGirl’s Night Out by Jenna Black is an epilogue book in her Faeriewalker series that I have been looking forward to for a while, so it is also on my list.

We’ll see what I actually have the time to read this week, I am getting ready for exams, as I have an oral exam in French linguistics on June 4th, and there is a lot of other stuff going on as well, but I will update next week and let you know 🙂

What about you? What are you reading? Thanks for stopping by, I hope your week will be filled with splendid reads!

  1. OOh very nice! I still need to read Oath Bound as well! And I keep debating over Girls Night Out! Loved the Faeriewalker series but it’s been so long since I read it I fear I may forget some things!

Curious about Carniepunk! A lot of my fave authors are in it so I will likely pick it up. Anthologies though are getting harder for me to read these days.

Look forward to some of these reviews! Happy Reading!

    Here’s my Monday Wrapup

    Have a GREAT day!

Jessica@a GREAT read recently posted: It's Monday! What are You Reading?
    • It’s been very long since I read Faeriewalker as well, so I am a little afraid of having forgotten stuff..

And I agree about anthologies… it’s taking me a while to read, because I read one story – like it – then go on to read a novel 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Jessica 🙂

  2. Wow! So many of the books you list are on my TBR mountain or on my wish list. I just got the Shade series a week ago when I had the chance to meet Jeri Smith-Ready. She read a scene that made me really eager to read the series. Come see my Monday Report. Happy reading!

    • Oh, the Shade series is so awesome! I love the way the story unfolds, and how the characters grow! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks for stopping by, Kathy 🙂

  3. Great looking books coming up, can’t wait to see your reviews. I am reading Heat Wave by Richard Castle (Castle is one of my favorite shows and I have had the first three books in my reader for a while now and decided to give one a try. So far it’s pretty good.

I am also getting ready to read either Lover Be Mine or The Secret Life of Lady Julia (can’t remember the authors names). 🙂

    Happy reading!

    • Oh, Castle is one of my favorite shows as well, although I have to admit I’m behind. These days, I don’t watch any of my shows – I only read. I have Heat Wave on my reader as well. I’ll look for your review 🙂

mmm Lover Mine!!! I love that whole series, it’s full of smoking hot vampires 😀

      Thanks for stopping by Stormi.

    • Yeah, I really love that series – and I have been waiting to read it to make it last 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Majanka 🙂

    • Yes, it tends to pile up – but I don’t always end up reading the ones I mention in my Monday post. Sometimes, my mood changes, or I get my greedy little hands on a book I want to read straight away 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by Melissa.

  4. Rose Milligan

Enjoy reading this week. I’m currently reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer and Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.

    • I have had The Host on my TBR for over a year – I really need to get to it!

Thanks for stopping by Rose 🙂
