Review: F*ck Love – Tarryn Fisher

Review: F*ck Love – Tarryn Fisher

F*ck Love was like a blast to the heart in many ways – and I felt so much for Helena – like the whole spectre of feels was present thanks to her. (un)conventionally short: Yeah, exactly that! A real quick review, even if F*ck Love deserves a long-winded one. I am just so very late in writing reviews these days. This story was almost like a parallel universe at the beginning, I wasn’t sure what was real and what was not. Helena was in a relationship that she wasn’t fully happy in. She needed to ask herself some important questions in order to move forward with her life. The Writing in F*ck Love is fantastic, Fisher spins beautiful stories with […]

Weekend Wrap-up #214

Weekend Wrap-up #214

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer. STS #214 Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week: Thank you Loveswept, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley!! I’m so excited about both Reed and Final Siege. Both are set in romance series I love, but are very different. I can hardly […]

Safe and Sexy #30 – Van

Safe and Sexy #30 – Van

Safe and Sexy #30 Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when I wrote my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is […]

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #136 – Rules of Magic

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #136 – Rules of Magic

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #136 Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post. The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well […]

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Van sure had a troubled past that managed to make his present kind of murky as well. But Simone – she was really something, and totally open to tear his walls apart, while also grabbing him out of his shell. Story: These two characters were like water and oil at first, and then, suddenly bam! they were rather like dynamite. Both Van and Simone were strong minded, and they knew what they wanted, or didn’t want as it were. Simone wanted to get to know Van better… much, much better. And he was good with keeping her and everyone else at arm’s length. Little by little, both Simone and Van shed their public persona and shared some of their secrets. […]

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Chasing Christmas Eve was a nice story, back with the gang in Heartbreaker Bay. Colbie and Spence were fun, even if they both thought they sucked at love! Story: Chasing Christmas Eve includes a main character who’s an author, and  I love those kinds of stories. Possibly because I love reading. And getting a peek into how an author might feel when the pressure is high just makes me feel very strongly for all of them. Shalvis managed to bring all her characters to life, and I really had a good time with them all. Colbie and Spence’s first meeting was humorous, because Spence had gone out to have a break from work. And he did so by walking one […]

COYER Winter Switch – Sign-up

COYER Winter Switch – Sign-up

COYER Winter Switch What time is it? It’s COYER time, ladies and gentlemen. What is this challenge about, you wonder? Well, it’s the Clean Out Your E-Reader challenge. And every winter, the lovely Berls, Michelle and Stormi come up with a little extra something to make it a bit harder for the participants to make it. They don’t want to make it so difficult it will be impossible, though, so there are two choices for this COYER, either the Winter Switch, or the normal, strict COYER. I’m doing the latter, as I somehow don’t read books if I put them on a specific list. COYER – the Basics The challenge begins December 16th at 12am EST and ends March 9th […]
