Safe & Sexy #1 – Bare Essentials

Safe & Sexy #1 – Bare Essentials

Safe & Sexy #1 I’ve had the idea for a feature about safe sex for a long time, ever since I had my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! And finally, Safe & Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a great way to do so, and when an […]

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #101 – The Turn

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #101 Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post. The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well […]

Review: Sweet Dreams – Kristen Ashley

Review: Sweet Dreams – Kristen Ashley

Delicious, dangerous, romantic, hot, emotional… I’m pretty sure I could find many more adjectives to describe Sweet Dreams. I don’t even know where to start without squeeing about Sweet Dreams! Lauren was so lost until she arrived in Carnal, and even then, it took her a while to start finding herself again. And Tate… *shakes head*… *sighs*… Tate was definitely something. Book boyfriend deluxe comes to mind as a way to describe him. I loved that both Lauren and Tate were over 40. That they had lived their lives a bit before meeting each other. And that they really didn’t get along when they first met. And there was so much going on in this story, too. Lauren had been […]

Review: Not If I See You First – Eric Lindstrom

Review: Not If I See You First – Eric Lindstrom

Not If I See You First was both delightful and sad. Very real, and with a dash of drama thanks to Parker and the way she thought about herself first – like many other teenagers tend to do. I’m not sure why I kept Not If I See You First for so long on my kindle without reading it – it was as if it was hiding in plain sight! Parker was a very prickly heroine, and some might not enjoy her at all. I found her to be refreshing in some ways, though, because not only was she brutally honest, she was able to deal with the aftermath of her honesty as well. Her life was not an easy […]

Weekend Wrap-up #171 – All the lonely ARCs

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer. STS #171 – All the lonely ARCs Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. I didn’t buy any books, and only got one ARC I had requested. But I got a lot more ARCs than anticipated, thanks to Carina Press. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week: Thank you Simon […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional – Unrealistic Expectations?

Up Close and (un)Conventional – Unrealistic Expectations?

Up Close and (un)Conventional – Unrealistic Expectations? Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. This is where I discuss both things that have to do with reading and blogging, and things that just have to do with life in general. This week, I’m discussing unrealistic expectations and what can happen if we take romance novels literally… A while back, a friend of mine on Facebook had a status message saying that romance novels made women have as unrealistic expectations to relationships as porn movies made men have… And I found that to be a very interesting, albeit not completely correct assertion. I love reading romance, and you know that if you have ever visited me before. I love reading […]

Review: Under Pressure – Lori Foster

Review: Under Pressure – Lori Foster

Under Pressure was very slow-paced, and for quite a bit of it, the only characters present were Leese and Cat. The mystery and the suspense was well done, though, and, of course, Foster’s writing impeccable. While I found the suspense and the mystery part of Under Pressure to be well executed, I also found it to be a very slow read. It picked up a bit in the middle, then slowed back down until near the end. Cat was a bit too naïve for my taste in the beginning, but as she shared a bit more of herself with Leese, I got her reasoning. She was trusting in some ways, and extremely wary in others. And she really needed to […]

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Accidentally on Purpose continues in the same vein as the prior Heartbreaker Bay books, and the romance made me melt into a puddle. This series is filled with feel-good romance, great friendships and off the chart chemistry! Accidentally on Purpose is sweet, quirky, hot and funny, I had a really good time getting to know Elle and Archer better. It was apparent in the prior books that they were reluctantly attracted to each other, and that they were both holding back. Understanding why was very nice, and seeing behind Elle’s close to perfect façade made me like her even more. A go-getter and caregiver, Elle is always there for her friends, giving advice, helping out, working hard… But she doesn’t […]
