Review: Croc and the Fox – Eve Langlais

Warning: An ornery croc discovers he does have a pulse when a hot to trot fox decides to latch on, and never let go. Tongue in cheek humor, sizzling moments and a tiny, evil villain await.

A career military man, Viktor lives for the next mission – and his collection of weapons -- but a raid on an experimental lab makes him an unwilling protector, mostly because he can’t peel Renee off. A cold blooded croc, he never intended to settle down, but he didn’t count on a foxy lady warming his heart.

The world outside the laboratory was a big scary place. Unsure of how to deal with it, Renee latches onto the biggest, baddest, and sexiest, warrior around. Sharp toothed and with ice in his veins, Viktor’s violent side should have sent her running, but instead, she finds the courage to face her fears –and tame the lizard.

When danger comes knocking, with the intention of turning her lizard into a high priced fashion accessory, will Renee embrace her foxy side and show a croc she’s got what it takes to be his mate?

And will they finally vanquish the evil known as mastermind?

Croc and the Fox is filled with humor, some shifter fights, the ongoing mystery of the Mastermind, and lots of hot chemistry!

My Croc and the Fox review:

As always when I read a Langlais erotica, Croc and the Fox filled me with delight, good laughs, many hot moments and funny characters to follow on their adventures. I had already enjoyed Viktor and his bachelor ways in prior FUC stories, and he didn’t disappoint here. However, he hadn’t counted on actually enjoying Renee and her clinging ways quite as much as he ended up doing.

One of the things I enjoyed was that the mystery of the evil Mastermind – a shifter who kidnaps other shifters to experiment on them in order to change herself into a bigger, meaner, stronger and fearless shifter – was a part of the story, as well as the characters who work at the FUC offices with Viktor. Both the storyline, the romance, the smexy times and the plot were well done, and I really enjoy this series a lot!

The reason why I gave Croc and the Fox three stars rather than four are two: one, Renee was a virgin. And even if there actually was a good reason for her to be a virgin, mainly that she had been captive for a long time, and hand’t had a chance to be with anyone, it still kind of irked me. The second was that Renee’s mother finally found her again, and because she was from the French-speaking part of Canada, she spoke to Renee in French. And that little phrase she said was wrong. This is a huge pet-peeve for me, because it really isn’t that hard to find someone who can translate simple sentences. “Mon bébé! Oh que je t’ai manquée, ma petite.” is the sentence in question, and what it actually says here is: ‘my baby! oh, how you have missed me […]’  This is not how someone would say this in French, and I really believe what the mother is actually supposed to say is: ‘my baby! oh, how I have missed you[…]’ Which should have been ‘Mon bébé! Oh, que tu m’as manquée.’

This is such a bad idea. His mind kept repeating that, and yet his hands, draped loosely around her back, stroked gently in an attempt to calm his red fox. As for his cock… Engorged with every ounce of blood he owned, it seemed to think bringing her home was a mighty fine idea.

A great step forward for her. He should have celebrated, instead, sick croc that he was, he missed the feel of her pressed against him. Watching her just wasn’t the same as wearing her.
