A no-nonsense female cop reluctantly teams up with the one man who makes her lose control in a deliciously sensual new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster...
To bring down a sleazy abduction ring, Lieutenant Margaret "Margo" Peterson has set herself up as bait. But recruiting Dashiel Riske as her unofficial partner is a whole other kind of danger. Dash is 6'4" of laid-back masculine charm, a man who loves life - and women - to the limit. Until Margo is threatened, and he reveals a dark side that may just match her own....

Beneath Margo's tough facade is a slow-burning sexiness that drives Dash crazy. The only way to finish this case is to work together side by side...skin to skin. And as their mission takes a lethal turn, he'll have to prove he's all the man she needs - in all the ways that matter....

Dash of Peril is a hot and exciting contemporary romance, filled with both danger, fun and steamy scenes.

My Dash of Peril review:

Dash of Peril is delightful because there is both a lot of excitement, and a lot of romance. And I just love stories where one of the protagonists is doing whatever they can to not fall in love, because the longing is so awesome. And when they do finally fall, it’s delicious to read about. Margo is a cop, and she’s very good at her job. This means that she doesn’t often have the time to be with a man, especially because her needs in the bedroom are very different from the toughness she wants to show as the chief, with mostly men working at her orders. Dash is a great male lead, too, because even if he respects Margo in every way, he realizes that her feelings for him might be a lot stronger than she lets on, and he will not let her slip away from him this time.

There is a lot of danger and darkness in Dash of Peril, especially because the case Margo is working is a very tough one. Several women have been drugged and kidnapped, then used in underground pornos. Some of them didn’t survive their ordeal, while others have been scarred for life. Margo can never abide with violence against women, and she is ready to put herself at risk to come to the bottom of the crime ring that is behind the kidnappings. Dash comes to her rescue when she is ambushed after a van runs into her car on purpose, and because she needs to be woken every two hours, he goes home with her… And the innuendoes begin.

The writing in Dash of Peril is flawless, it is fast paced, action-filled, and the romantic scenes are filled with both a lot of longing and a little humor. The characters I already knew and loved from Getting Rowdy are all present in Dash of Peril, too, and it felt good to see how they were all doing. If you’re looking for romance that has a big mystery and some suspense, with a very strong (and strong-minded!) female lead, this is a book for you.

Some of my favorite Dash of Peril quotes:

Margaret detested all bullies, took great pleasure in bringing down criminals, but she had a very special, deep-rooted hatred for men who sexually mistreated women. It was the worst type of degradation, the most demoralizing thing that could happen to a female.

And though Margo might not realize, it also meant he was used to calling the shots. She might run roughshod over most men, and intimidate others, and she probably mistook his good humor for weakness – but very soon, Lieutenant Margaret Peterson would get to know him better.

Her heavy eyes watched him with suggestion. “The drawstring yoga pants will be easy enough.”

  1. I am totally looking for “romance that has a big mystery and some suspense, with a very strong (and strong-minded!) female lead” so I added it right quick. Do I have to read the previous installments? I like that she’s a tough cop and that Dash respects her. I hope you’re having a great week, Lexxie!

    • You don’t have to read the previous installments, even if both Margo and Dash show up there, too. I still haven’t had a chance to read the very first book in this series, and I’m still really enjoying myself 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by, Robyn.

    • That’s so funny, Silvia! I have really enjoyed the Lori Foster books I’ve read so far, I love it when there’s more to the story than the romance, and she manages the suspense really well, too. I hope you’ll pick up one of her books really soon, and that you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I have at least two of the books from this series, and you are making me want to quit everything and read them RIGHT NOW. But I can’t 🙁 Know what I can do? I can (and will) actually download the suckers so they sit there on my kindle staring at me, and I can’t forget about them again. Great review, Lexxie! SOON 😉

    • Oh, this series is awesome, Jessica! Even if there is nothing paranormal going on, it’s hot, mysterious, filled with suspense and tension… Did that make it worse? Oops… sorry about that 😛
I hope you’ll get to read them soon, they are awesome! Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I never know if I should try books like this. I am not one for romance novels but this does actually sound good. I think I need to just try it. It might turn out better than I expect (or worse but then I know to steer clear in the future, lol).

    • LOL Jirrine! I thought I didn’t really enjoy romance before, too… it turns out I absolutely love it, though. But I won’t hold it against you if it doesn’t work that way for you.
      Thanks for stopping by.

    • 🙂 Frankly, sometimes, I just check out new releases from Harlequin…They almost always keep me satisfied.
      Thanks for stopping by, Shane.

  4. Dash of Peril sounds fabulous, Lexxie!! I am loving romantic suspense and this one seems to deliver everything I could want. I haven’t read Lori Foster before but I added Getting Rowdy when you reviewed it, so I’m going to have to get started. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed this one so well! *BIG HUGS*
