This kid-friendly cookbook from category-leading authors has gluten-free families covered, every day of the week

Cooking and sharing meals is something every family should be able to enjoy together—even if one or more family members eats gluten-free. If your household is avoiding gluten, this book will lead the way to recreating your family’s old favorites, and introduce you to a few new ones, too!

Gluten-Free Family Favorites is an accessible, photo-filled cookbook that makes gluten-free cooking fun, with 75 recipes designed to meet your family’s everyday needs (and wants!), including:

breakfasts to start the day off right (French Toast Sticks, Banana Muffins, Pancakes)
snacks and sides that satisfy (Cashew Coconut Chia Squares, Soft Pretzels)
balanced dinners (Pumpkin Gnocchi Nuggets, Spaghetti Bolognese, Quesadillas)
familiar classics (Personal Pizzas, Fish Sticks, Chicken Fingers)
tasty treats (Apple Cider Donuts, Waffle Cones, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies)
Alongside such kid-tested and approved recipes, Gluten-Free Family Favorites teaches the ins and outs of a gluten-free diet, including how to maintain a gluten-free kitchen, avoid cross-contamination, reduce the higher grocery bills that can come with a gluten-free diet, and empower children to select and prepare food for themselves.

Each recipe includes a full-page color photo, “Kids Can” tips to get kids cooking, and modifications for families avoiding other allergens or eating a vegetarian or vegan diet. With delicious recipes and a wealth of advice, this will be an indispensable addition to your family’s cookbook shelf.

Easy-to understand recipes for lots of yummy food, that’s what you’ll find in Gluten-Free Family Favorites.

My Gluten-Free Family Favorites review:

The beginning of Gluten-Free Family Favorites explains the why behind the cookbook, as well as some very thorough break-downs on how to read labels, how to save money, servings, and what the kids can do to help when cooking. The recipes are easy to follow, and I really enjoyed that the measurements are both in US and European formats – of course, I can work out the differences myself, but it’s easier to have it all there in the same place.

While nobody in my family suffers from gluten intolerance, I wanted to read a cookbook with gluten-free recipes because several of my friends struggle with what to eat, and Gluten-Free Family Favorites is really well done! There are some beautiful pictures of the prepared food, and the fact that there are all kinds of different foods makes it enticing as well. Even without needing to stay away from Gluten, I want to eat some of this, and I think that’s saying something – as I really love my food 🙂

While the recipes in Gluten-Free Family Favorites were awesome, I could have done without the slightly preachy tone of the beginning of this cookbook. Because the food seems awesome, and there are lots of nice alternatives for everything you can imagine if you need to eat gluten-free, I would still recommend this cookbook if you suspect you or anyone else in your family should stay away from gluten in the future.

  1. I may give this one a look-over, Lexxie. I’m gluten-intolerant (not celiac) so I’m always looking for recipes for myself that my family might also enjoy. 🙂

Glad you’re back! I’m sorry it cold and rainy – it’s that way here as well, at least in the afternoon. We do get sun for the morning. But I can imagine it’s a shock after the beach. Can’t wait to catch up. I work all day tomorrow but the kids go back to school Monday (Sky) and Tuesday. So next week for sure! **BIG HUGS**

    • These recipes are just what you need, then, Brandee! I’m pretty sure your family won’t even notice that those muffins or breads are without gluten 🙂

I’m glad to be back, too, even if it’s a lot cooler here. My own bed is the best in the world 😀 I need to write up a post about our vacation, because it was a lot of fun.

Don’t work too hard! I hope we’ll be able to catch up on Tuesday. My kids still have one more week of vacation, and I’m filling out forms so I can start substitute teaching this fall 🙂

      *BIG HUGS*

  2. I’ve never had a problem with gluten, but it is nice to have some easy go-to recipes on hand for when friends are over and you have to modify for their dietary needs. Too bad the intro was preachy – I hate when they do that, but I can skip it and get to the recipes. And how cool about the measurements, that’s something I’ve never seen in a cookbook and probably never would have thought about.
