His past is coming back to haunt him, and only one woman can bring this detective the redemption he needs in Carol Ericson's new miniseries, Brody Law.

Under the Golden Gate, Elise Duran refused to be a serial killer's next victim. She was the first of the abducted to survive. And Detective Sean Brody was there to make sure a second chance wouldn't be necessary.

As the elusive murderer sends them messages, both personal and gruesome, the point becomes clear: no one can escape death. But Sean's presence can't be any stronger as he shadows Elise while on the job—and off it—proving she couldn't have asked for a better protector. Though beneath his cool exterior Sean hides a troublesome secret. One that's absolutely to die for…

The Bridge is a fantastic romantic thriller. Color me both intrigued and confused, as well as more than a little hot and bothered! Sean is a brooding, strong police detective, and when he first meets Ellie, he’s amazed by her resilience. She singlehandedly escaped from a would-be killer who had stuffed her in his trunk, and she is still strong enough to answer questions, get back home to deal with another unpleasant surprise and go to the police station with Sean.

The suspense is there from the opening sentence, when Ellie is hiding in the fog near the bay by the Golden Gate Bridge while her attacker is searching for her and calling for her. The chemistry in The Bridge is there from the start, too, because there is just that little something that makes Sean and Ellie aware of each other. The writing is really good, I was never able to guess who the culprit was, and I was surprised and shocked more than once.

The Bridge is quite fast paced, but it slows downs deliciously for the romantic scenes. With a rich cast of characters that are all developed and multi-faceted, the story took hold of me and brought me along for a mysterious and chilling ride. Serial-killers on the loose always leave me breathless, and when he is targeting women in a specific way, it makes for even more breath-taking scenes. The killer is following Ellie everywhere, and it takes Sean a while to figure out how he does it. Once he does, both he and I had a duh moment.

Both the story and the plot in The Bridge is well done, things make sense, and the character development for Sean and Ellie is excellent. They both have trouble trusting each other at first, based on their past experiences, and when Ellie finds out that Sean has kept a more current secret as well, she needs to ask herself if she is really acting in a smart way. If you are hungry for an exciting thriller filled with romance and heartache, as well as a lot of danger, The Bridge is the story for you!

She hadn’t brought a date back to her house since moving to San Francisco. She didn’t trust these smooth-talking city boys much. If she couldn’t read a boy she’d known all her life back home in Montana, what chance did she have figuring out some metrosexual urban dweller?

“He’s a serial killer, isn’t he? He’s a serial killer you don’t know about yet. He’s just getting started and he wants to play some sick game with you… and now me.”

Standing beside a blue hybrid. A long blond ponytail whipping across her face. What the hell was Elise Duran doing here, and why the hell was she screaming?

    • I agree, serial killer plots are great, and when there’s a little bit of romance thrown in, I’m a very happy reader 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Braine.
