Safe & Sexy #2

I’ve had the idea for a feature about safe sex for a long time, ever since I had my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! And finally, Safe & Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a great way to do so, and when an author includes a couple of lines to share that they are indeed using condoms, I am such a happy reader. And I think it’s sexy when both new and ‘old’ lovers show that they respect each other by getting that condom, and possibly making using it both safe & sexy, hot and fun.

If you want to participate with your very own Safe & Sexy quotes, go right ahead. The more the merrier, and maybe your quote will help me add a new book to my bloated TBR shelf 😉 One can never have enough books, right? My Safe & Sexy quote for this week, it’s from Fearsome by S.A. Wolfe:

Fearsome - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Jessica Channing’s big city life should be more exciting than sixty-hour work weeks and popcorn nights with her girlfriends, but it’s not. She has worked hard fulfilling her role as a child prodigy and graduating college years before her peers. She’s the good girl, the brilliant girl.
Unfortunately, she’s also the dateless young woman.
That all changes with one phone call. Jess’s rigid, predictable life upends when she must visit a small, obscure town to deal with a relative’s death. This isn’t just any little speck of a town, though. Long lost memories come crashing down on Jess’s world when two men, the Blackard brothers, seem to lure her in.
Dylan is cover model handsome, and pursues Jess the minute she comes to town. Then there is tall, dark and gorgeous Carson, who hides his own secrets behind his hardened reserve.
For someone who has been governed by her own obsessive behaviors and fears, Jess lets her guard down and jumps at the opportunity to have an affair with a man she actually finds attractive for a change.
There’s just one problem. Jess discovers that she can’t have a simple romantic fling because true passion does indeed come with some very big strings attached to it. She will have to own up to her own truths about love and face the two extraordinary men; both troubled in their own ways and both determined to have her.

My Safe & Sexy quote:

“Oh God,” he says, looking down at me. He reaches for the nightstand where he has tossed a couple of condoms when he came in. He moves quickly to open one and put it on. I don’t know whether to be impressed by his speed or concerned with his skill and dexterity at doing it with one hand. how many times has this guy been in a condom emergency?

Safe & Sexy linkup:

  1. Great idea for a feature! I always prefer it if in books they take the time to use a condom and be safe about the sex or at least talk about it so the reader knows what’s going on. I read a paranormal romance recently where the shifters couldn’t transmit diseases to humans, so the character explained that before they had sex and they didn’t have to use a condom for that reason. Nice quote you picked for this week 🙂

  2. You had to dig deep for this one…we read it a loooong time ago! 😉 But I really liked this story as I recall. I still have the last one on my kindle (I just realized I have another series to add to my list of those I’m behind on! 😉 ) Thanks for the “condom emergency” giggle this morning, wifey!
    Happy Friday! Miss you & love you!!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}

    • I love the search feature on my kindle, Brandee 😀 it’s not that difficult to find the quotes I’m looking for that way. And you’re right, it’s been very long since we read this one 😀
      I’m glad the condom emergency helped you start the day with a giggle 😉
      Love and miss you, too! {{{BIG HUGS}}}

    Whew! This sexy scene definitely reminds us that condoms are still important these days. I wonder if more of this was put into romance novels, if more young people would pay attention. I love the romance, but safety is still critical. Your quote sounds so fun!
