Sidekick Showcase - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well

Sidekick Showcase #16 – Law Enforcement

Oh this one should be very interesting, and it’s the first one in a long time where I had a character drop into my head as soon as I saw the theme of the day 🙂 I am going to talk a little about the sexiest sheriff alive (or undead as it may be) – I give you Eric Northman from the Sookie Stackhouse series! I mean really, what’s not to like? He is gorgeous, he’s a viking, he’s a vampire (that might not be a true positive trait, but you know…), he’s loyal, he has a great sense of humor and did I say he’s truly gorgeous?

From Club Dead :

“You are speaking of my future lover. Be more respectful.”

“I don’t like having feelings,” Eric said coldly, and he left.
That was a tough exit line to top.”

“Eric was holding my hands, and I was digging my nails into him like we were doing something else. He won’t mind, I thought, as I realized I’d drawn blood. And sure enough, he didn’t. “Let go,” he advised me, and I loosened my grip on his hands. “No, not of me,” he said smiling. “You can hold on to me as long as you want.”

From Dead as Doornail:

“Did we have sex?” he asked directly.
For about two minutes, this might actually be fun. “Eric,” I said, “we had sex in every position I could imagine, and some I couldn’t. We had sex in every room in my house, and we had sex outdoors. You told me it was the best you’d ever had.” (At the time he couldn’t recall all the sex he’d ever had. But he’d paid me a compliment.) “Too bad you can’t remember it,” I concluded with a modest smile.
Eric looked like I’d hit him in the forehead with a mallet. For all of thirty seconds his reaction was completely gratifying.”

From Living Dead in Dallas:

“You trust me?” Eric sounded surprised.
“Yes.”
“That’s . . . crazy, Sookie.”

“Hey, our hair’s the same color,” I said, eying us side by side in the mirror.
“Sure is, girlfriend.” Eric grinned at me.”

“The last time I wore an animal hide; but this time I settled for this.” Eric had been wearing a long trench coat. Now he threw it off dramatically, and I could only stand and stare. Normally, Eric was a blue-jeans-and-T-shirt kind of guy. Tonight, he wore a pink tank top and Lycra leggings[…]They were pink and aqua, like the swirls down the side of Jason’s truck.”

“Sookie, my little bullet-sucker”
Eric, my big bullshitter”

Who is your Law Enforcement character for Sidekick Showcase? Please do share, I really look forward to seeing the different choices today.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a spectacular Saturday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. Haha, I love Eric XD I really do. That he’s played by Alexander Skarsgard in the series doesn’t hurt 😉 I still remember quite a few of those quotes as well! Great choices 🙂
I’ve never heard of this feature before but it’s a great idea! It happens to me quite often that I find a sidekick at least as or even more interesting as the MC.

    • I agree, Alexander Skarsgard is definitely very easy on the eyes 😉

You should participate to try it out, Carmen, we’re having a lot of fun each week thanks to Jaclyn’s great imagination.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I love him and the pic you shared! Excellent choice this week for law enforcement and funny that I didn’t even consider him LOL. The quotes you shared are absolutely fantastic! BTW, I really enjoy getting to see your picture and smiling face as well 😀 Have a fantastic weekend! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

    • Thank you Jaclyn 🙂 Eric was the one name that popped into my head when I saw law enforcement, even if he isn’t really, the sexy sheriff wouldn’t leave. And I love that picture so I thought I should share it.

Thanks for stopping by Jaclyn 🙂

    • Well, I guess you’re the kind of bookgirlfriend who just lost Eric to that blogger in Switzerland 😛

I hope your move went OK, and that you’ll get settled in your new house easily and quickly. *hugs* Thanks for taking a time-out from packing out to come here and comment, Robyn.
