Sidekick Showcase - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well

Sidekick Showcase #19 – Sidekick of Choice

Today, it’s Jaclyn’s Birthday! Happy Birthday Jaclyn 🙂 I hope you’ll have a most fabulous day *hugs*

My sidekick of choice for today is Jeb from A. G. Howard’s Splintered. He is a really good sidekick, he is ready to walk to extra mile to help Alyssa with all her different trials. He is really a good guy, and he’s been taking care of his mom and his sister for a long time, and he’s working as well as helping out neighbors and friends when they need him. Of course, Alyssa has been in love with him for as long as she can remember, but she has never let him know about her feelings… And he just might have some feelings for her as well.

Here are some quotes for you:

His mouth is so close to mine, his breath warm, sugary, and tempting, but thought of Taelor and London resurface. I can’t let my heart get stolen by a guy who’s hot for another girl, or be the kind of person who steals another girl’s guy.

This is all a ploy to get Al to do another ‘task’. Right? Another test. What I want to know is what she’s being tested for. What happens when she passes them all?”

Who is your sidekick of choice? Please share so I can come check out your post.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a spectacular Saturday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. Yeah, please be careful out there, Brandee! Is it still raining as much? I hope things will calm down, and the water will retreat very soon.

Jeb is great, and yes, I did love Splintered. Have a good weekend yourself.

  2. This is one of those books that I was dying to read. I adore fairy-tale retellings. What held me back was a few of the first reviews that I read. When I learned that some of my trusted friends enjoyed it though, now I really do want to read it. I hope I get to it soon because I think it will most likely be one that I enjoy. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes 😀 I really appreciate it! I hope you are having a most lovely weekend!! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

    • I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy Splintered, Jaclyn. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. It’s kind of a re-telling of Alic in Wonderland, but at the same time, it’s really not. But it explains why.

My weekend is excellent so far! I hope yours is too 🙂

  3. I like Jeb, but also the girl sounds really with it in that quote. This book has one of the all time best covers. It’s just beautiful. Gosh, I think I remember having a Jeb talk before and how I just have to read this book. I better up it on the list. One of these days, I will be the one responsible for fattening TBR lists. Yeah. Great pick. I hope your weekend is going great. We went to the coast for one last summer run in the ocean.

  4. Oh one last summer run in the ocean sounds fantastic Robyn! I love the beach – even in the winter and when it rains. When I retire, I want to be on a tropical island 😀

Yeah, Jeb is great, but Alyssa is awesome! And the cover truly is one of the most beautiful covers ever. It also kind of tells a little bit of the story, which I really found genius.

Thanks for stopping by Robyn 🙂

  5. Ah, this makes me want to read SPLINTERED even more now! I remember the hype surrounding it and how everyone seemed to love it. And a sidekick that nearly outshines the heroine? That is amazing. Jeb sounds really memorable, which are the kinds of characters I love the most.

That quote. >.< So swoony. (Romance is another thing that either makes or breaks a book for me, too.) Thanks for sharing, Lexxie! If I weren't on a book buying ban I would've bought SPLINTERED right now.

    • Splintered is very well written! I was afraid to read it because of the hype, but I’m happy I did. It is fun, dark, and wonderland is not at all the way it is in the original Alice in Wonderland story.

Yes, if there is romance, it has to be well done! If not, I don’t enjoy myself at all.

      Thanks for stopping by, Megan.
