Sidekick Showcase - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well

Sidekick Showcase #31 -Christmas-y

For the whole month of December, we are choosing a character that makes us think of something that has to do with Christmas. That does not mean that the character in question has to be all nice and sweet, but it could be that the character is an elf, and angel, works at a soup kitchen for the season or something else that triggered that thought of Christmas – even if it was to say the opposite.

So I had a hard time during the month of December – I’ve been busy preparing for exams, and for our trip to Norway where my oldest son is staying for a year of school and ice-hockey. But I thought of an excellent character last night, after I finished reading Shine (Mageri #5). I give you Simon – because he thinks he’s God’s gift to women *grin* Simon is a hoot, very good-looking, with such a dry sense of humor it’s almost impossible, and of course, his sexy British accent.

From Sterling:

“Learner, this is Simon Hunt, and old friend of mine. Simon, behave.” “Justus, I would have never imagined you would finally take in a woman. Well done.”

Simon strode toward me with a swagger that couldn’t be taught. His hand reached for mine, and when I went to shake it, he bent over and pressed a kiss to it. There was a glimmer of amusement in his expression as he briefly looked at Justus. He seemed absolutely… “Enchanted,” Simon greeted me as he straightened his back.

Simon was the fresh air that I craved; I was brimming with excitement that a visitor was in the house.

What I immediately liked about Simon was that while he looked like a bad boy, he acted like a total gentleman.

“Where are you from, Simon? I’m going to guess England, so if I’m wrong, dinner is on me next time. “Define… on.” Simon gave a wolfish grin and refilled his wine.

From Twist:

That would be Simon Hunt: the man, the myth the bane of my existence.

Simon’s appearance was 50% rebellion, 30% comfort, and 100% attention. He dressed smart when he wanted to. He just never wanted to.

Simon lifted the wine from the table and wedged it between his legs. In a calculated move, he slid his hand down the neck of the bottle in a suggestive manner and waggled an eyebrow at me.

So, there are a few little tidbits about Simon. My review for Shine will be posted on January 6th as part of the blogtour for the last Mageri book, so don’t forget to stop by again then 😉

  1. LOL, and there are many more I could have chosen – I just finished reading Shine yesterday – it was awesome.

I think my exams went well, now, I need to start working on a paper I have to hand in on Jan 6th, and I also have an oral exam on the 20th.

    Happy New Year, Robyn 🙂

    • He is definitely delish! Well, I was a little upset with myself for being so lazy with the Sidekick Showcase posts in December, and partly I was because I had a hard time getting something to post about – there were so many choices I couldn’t decide on just one.

Thanks Jaclyn 🙂 I hope it’s all good – won’t get results for a while still, but classes don’t start up again until February 17th… which is really, really great.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy New Year!

    • I am sorry, Brandee, but I have absolutely no recollection of ever having ‘gifted’ you with Simon!! I do remember agreeing to let you borrow him every now and then, but that’s it, lady 😉

We’re going to have a nice and quiet evening at home tonight, no big bang, but it’s going to be a good evening – with good food and some sparkly drinks – filled with tiny giggles as Silver would have said. *hugs*

    • Oh, we’ll have to see about that, Traci, I think Simon would totally be up to it, so I guess we’d share with you, too 🙂

      Christian, eh? hmm… that’s interesting 😀

      Thanks for stopping by!
