Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well
Sidekick Showcase #36
For the whole month of February, we are sharing Sidekick Showcase characters who truly make us swoon – the bookboyfriends who have that little extra that just make them impossible to resist. And for today, I give you Charles “Spade” from Jeaniene Frost’s Nighthuntress series. Charles is extremely arrogant, he has little to no filter – which makes for some truly hilarious dialgogues, and he is a flirt. He loves to tease Cat, with the added bonus of sometimes making Bones growl at him, and the scenes he are in never cease to make me smile, laugh and swoon.
From Halfway to the Grave (Nighthuntress #1):
“Believe me, mate, I’ve never enjoyed a woman astride me less. I came out to say hello, and this she-devil blinded me by flinging rocks in my eyes. Then she vigorously attempted to split my skull before threatening to impale me with silver if I so much as even
twitched! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to America, but I daresay the method of greeting a person has changed
dramatically!”“If you’d refrain from slamming my face any more into this dirty rock floor, I’ll do whatever you like,” was his even reply. “Fancy
letting my head go?”
“Sure,” I said with an unpleasant snicker, not relinquishing an ounce of pressure. “How about I let you floss with my jugular as
well? I don’t think so.”
From At Grave’s End (Night Huntress #3)
“Bones, what is everyone doing in here? Spade, cover up. Frigging vampires think everyone wants to see what they’ve got.”
Don’t forget to link up, join the Sidekick Showcase fun with us 🙂 Thanks for stopping by today, have a great day!
Oh, I love Spade. I was so glad when he and Denise got their own book 🙂
Me, too, that made things more fun 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Jessica.
Awesome choice! I love Spade! I was really happy when him and Denise got together 🙂
Yes, Spade is a lot of fun, and even more so when he’s with Denise 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Christy.
I love the quotes! I laughed all over again. I need to return to this series. I have no excuse! What a great pick. Does Spade ever get his own book? Thanks for the laughs, Lexxie. Have a fantastic week.
Robyn, Spade actually does get his own book 🙂 And it’s fabulous as well.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your week will be fantastic, too.
Hahaha! The first quote is probably my favorite scene with Spade. I love that we got a book with him as the MC. One of the best things about Spade is that he’s so loyal to Bones. They’ve been friends for so long that he’ll always side with him even if the choice is Bones or Cat. I like loyalty a lot. Fantastic choice 😀 Also, love the new design!! Have a lovely Sunday! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
Yeah, Spade is so much fun! I would have loved to do one on Ian as well, but I didn’t get my post up last week 🙁 I agree, loyalty is important!
I love the new design, too 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Jaclyn. Have a fantastic week.

Haven’t read this series although I’ve tried book 1 of the spin-off. It was OK but I think NH is still better
I love the night Huntress, and both of the spin-off series, too.
Thanks for stopping by, Braine.
Oh, Spade is an excellent choice, Lexxie! 🙂 I almost went with Vlad…but I thought I’d used him before. Who knew picking a book boyfriend to share would be such a difficult task! LOL
I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. I spent a lot of time at a Winter guard competition where my daughter’s guard took first place in their class! Yay! I hope to see you tomorrow. Have a great day of classes! *BIG HUGS*
*sigh* yes, Vlad is awesome, too! I love the spin-off series for him very much, too.
I did have a great weekend, thank you. Congrats to your daughter’s guard! That’s excellent.
I hope you’re having a great Monday, my dear. *BIG HUGS*
Hey, that just reminds me that I haven’t read Spade’s book yet! Thanks for the reminder, I’m hanging out for the next Prince of Darkness book *drools*
Yes, the Prince of Darkness is droolworthy, Jeann! Those male characters are all pretty much made of awesome.
Thanks for stopping by.
I don’t think you have read the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but there is one fabulously swoon worthy sidekick boyfriend there, Aiden St. Delphi.
If you branch out a bit there are a couple of other fabulous sidekicks to mention.
Aiden’s brother Deacon. He’s the clown of the group – always trying to look on the bright side. Deacon is the worrier with the comic defense mechanism. His boyfriend, Luke is also awesome.
Then there is Seth, the trickster. I really don’t know what to do with him. Sometimes he is swoon worthy and other times so very much NOT. Egotistical and power hungry – gorgeous and he knows it.
I highly recommend this series (although the last one seems to have quite a few more typos than the previous ones).
*sighs* you know how I feel about typos, though, don’t you Xyra? If there are more than a hand-full, I can’t continue reading. I feel like I need a red pen, and that doesn’t bode well for staying in the story.
I have heard good things about Aiden, though, so we’ll see.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Seriously, there weren’t that many at all. Understandable ones that were easily glossed over. Made me blink, but not grab the “red pen.” And you know I do that too. 😉
OK, then it will still stay on my TBR list, Xyra 🙂
