Stacking The Shelves #4

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

When I started participating in Stacking The Shelves, it was because I figured I really need to keep better track of books I’m adding to my huge TBR pile every week. At the same time, I also think it’s a great way of connecting with other bloggers. So come on in, and see what books I picked up last week :

Kindle freebies:

Big Girls box set - (un)Conventional BookviewsBig Girls box set by Jasinda Wilder was free on kindle, and it’s another one I found on a Stacking the Shelves last week. I have heard a lot of good things about this series, so I figured since it’s free, why not try it, right?
Blurb from Book #1 Gorgeous, rock-star guys like Chase Delany don’t go for girls like me. They go for supermodels and actresses, skinny-girls who never eat and spend all day working out. I’m not that girl. So when he locked his fiery brown eyes on me for the first time, I couldn’t quite believe it was really happening to me.
It was the second night I spent with him that I’ll never forget.

Finding Cinderella - (un)Conventional BookviewsI just love everything Colleen Hoover has written so far, so when I saw that there was a free book in the Hopeless series, I couldn’t resist. Finding Cinderella is a novella, and I really wonder about it now.
Blurb: A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.
When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

A Little Too Far - (un)Conventional BookviewsA Little Too Far was mentioned on several blogs on last week’s StS, and being a sucker for cheap books, I bought it.
Blurb: Have you ever gone just a little too far?
Lexie Banks has.
Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.
But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

Tragic - (un)Conventional BookviewsMy blogger-bestie, Brandee of Bookworm Brandee loves J.A Huss’ Rook and Ronin series, and we usually love the same kind of books, so I really couldn’t resist Tragic when it was so cheap! Now I only need to find the time to read it 🙂
Blurb: Rook Walsh is TRAGIC
Because life so far – just sucks. Some girls get parents. Rook got the foster care system. Some girls get Prince Charming. Rook got an abusive frog. Some girls get lucky…
Rook got a second chance.
And she took it. Because when fate throws you a bone – you grab it with both hands and run.
Antoine Chaput knows the minute he spies Rook in his photography studio that she’s got The Look. The dark and desperate look he must have to land the exclusive TRAGIC media contract.
Rook is paired up with top model, Ronin, and he’s everything her abusive ex-boyfriend wasn’t. Patient, gentle, happy, attentive, and sexy! He knows exactly what to do to make Rook blush for Antoine’s camera.
Rook’s luck changes in an instant and suddenly she’s the darling of the modeling world. It’s a dream job to go with a dream guy and all she has to do is look pretty and follow directions. But there’s always a price to pay – and Rook is about to get the bill.

Manic - (un)Conventional BookviewsOf course, when the second book in a series is also cheap, that one-click finger is so eager it just kind of happened that I bought Manic as well 😉
Blurb: It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.
Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? 😉
Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.

Kindle books for $3.99

The Cowboy Wins a Bride - (un)Conventional BookviewsI have read book 1 and 3 in the Cowboys of Chance Creek series, but somehow, I had skipped number 2 – The Cowboy Wins a Bride – so I picked this one up as soon as I finished reading The Cowboy Imports a Bride. Cora Seton really knows how to make her cowboys attractive, and even if I’m a city-gal, they truly appeal to me!
Blurb: All Jamie Lassiter wants is to marry his best friend’s sister and settle down for the rest of his life in Chance Creek. He’s saved his money, bought into the Cruz Guest Ranch and he’s ready for that wedding, but Claire Cruz is nowhere to be found.
Claire’s too busy leaving Montana behind to care about cowboys or their wedding plans. She’s got plans of her own – a trip around the world. She’ll go as soon as she buys her tickets and she doesn’t care if she ever sees Chance Creek again.
Desperate to change Claire’s mind, Jamie proposes a bet: give him six weeks to convince her to marry him. If he can’t, he’ll pay for her round-the-world tickets himself.
Claire can wait six weeks if it means free tickets and a chance to get a little revenge on a man who once broke her heart. She’s got only one stipulation: Jamie can’t touch or flirt with her – or any other woman – while the bet is on.
Now Jamie’s on the run from a bevy of cowboy-groupie ranch guests, and Claire’s learning she cares about the ranch – and Jamie – more than she dreamed possible.
Maybe it’s time to lose that bet.
As long as Jamie loses it first.

Archangel's Legion - (un)Conventional BookviewsArchangel’s Legion by Nalini Singh was on pre-order for me. I love all of her books, and this series about angels and vampires really appeal to me. A lot!
Blurb: Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.
Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.
Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.
Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…

From Netgalley for review:

The Russian Temptation - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Russian Temptation just had such a yummy blurb I had to request it. You know what I mean? It’s really not as if I’m lacking any books, but sometimes I really can’t help myself.
Blurb: She wants the truth. He wants her.
Ambassador and scientist Skylar Rossi is determined to expose security breaches in an illegal Russian chemical weapons plant. Her mission is personal. She’s spent a lifetime atoning for the sins of her father, an international arms dealer. But the moment she steps off the Trans-Siberian train in Khimgorod—a city that doesn’t exist on any map—she’s alone, isolated and deep in enemy territory. She can trust no one, especially her so-called security escort, the refined and lethal Nikolai Markov.

What the Bride Didn't Know - (un)Conventional BookviewsWhat the Bride Didn’t Know sounds pretty intriguing. And it’s a Harlequin romance. And I love Harlequin romances 🙂
Blurb: Shh…it’s a secret!
Special ops expert Trig Sinclair is a man’s man, and that means he knows the cardinal rule of the bro code—no matter how dynamite Lena West is, as his best friend’s younger sister, she’s strictly off-limits!
But when a secret mission to Istanbul sees Lena and Trig pretending to be married (and sharing a bed!), he finds himself in a whole new world of sweet torture…. But if Trig thinks playing the honor-bound hero is tough, it’s got nothing on how Lena feels when she discovers what her “groom” is really hiding…

Wyoming Bold - (un)Conventional BookviewsWyoming Bold is another Harlequin romance, and it features cowboys. And if you haven’t noticed it already, I love cowboys!
Blurb: Wyoming Former border agent Dalton Kirk thought his life was over-literally-when a gang of smugglers left him for dead. Defying all odds, he survives his ordeal and returns to his Wyoming ranch ready to dedicate his future to a more peaceful home on the range. Until lovely Merissa Baker knocks on his door.
Merissa is well aware of her reputation as the local eccentric-she knows things before they happen-and she’s had a vision that Dalton is in danger. Even though her beliefs clash with Dalton’s cowboy logic, she’s determined to save the handsome rancher she’s secretly loved forever.

  1. Great haul, Lexxie! I only know about Finding Cinderella which I also got for free last week. I loved Colleen’s Slammed too but haven’t read other books by her. I heard Finding Cinderella is a standalone so I immediately grabbed the opportunity. Hope you have fun with your books and thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • LOL that’s one of the books I got an e-mail about, and I just had to click it 🙁 I do look forward to reading it, though.

      Thanks for stopping by Stormi.

  6. Great haul! There are a lot of authors that are new to me, but I see a couple reads that I’m definitely going to check out. Finding Cinderella looks interesting, and since it’s a novella it might be a great way to see if I like the author. Enjoy your books 🙂

  7. Yeah, a novella that is free, even, is a great way to figure out if you like the author’s style 🙂

    Thanks for stopping by Lizzy.
