Stacking The Shelves #93 – BB&B #43

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon. BB&B is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from Karen Marie Moning’s amazing Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. For the second week in a row, I’ve been very good – only three more books added to my kindle! YAY me 🙂

ARCs:

Knave of Broken Hearts cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Knave of Broken Hearts (Love in Laguna #2) – Tara Lain

Jim Carney has a full time job—running from himself. Since he walked out on his wealthy family at sixteen because he’d wrecked his best friend’s life over some yaoi graphic novels, Jim has lived a macho, blue-collar existence of too much booze and too little responsibility. Then Billy Ballew, the man Jim most admires, gives Jim a chance to come through as his construction supervisor. For once, Jim is determined to make someone proud. Then Jim goes in for a physical for his new job and his yaoi dream comes to life in the form of cardiologist Ken Tanaka. Jim discovers he has two heart problems—a wonky mitral valve and a serious attraction to his doctor. But Ken is a major player, and Jim might be just a notch on the doc’s stethoscope. To Ken, Jim is unforgettable—but the living embodiment of his traditional family’s worst nightmares.

How come the minute Jim decides to be responsible, he finds himself taking care of his kid brother, getting a proposal from a wealthy woman, making a deal with the devil, and winding up in the hospital—when all he really wants is the Knave of Broken Hearts?

I received the ARC of Knave of Broken Hearts directly from Tara Lain after tweeting that Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee and I were planning to buddy-read the first book in this series. Thank you Tara!

Kindle Purchases:

Ricochet cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Ricochet – Keri Lake

The only sure way to destroy a man is to take what he cannot live without.
Three years ago, I had everything.
A beautiful wife.
A son.
A reason for living.
Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.
They tried to kill me, too. I wish they had. Now I’m cursed by the memories of that night, and the words I whispered to my dying wife.
A promise—to avenge the wrong and set it right.
I’m no longer Nick Ryder. I’m a masked vigilante. Faceless. Loveless. Fearless. A man with nothing left to lose—one who’s seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.
Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am. Or what I want. All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife.
An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.
If she doesn’t destroy me first.

I wish I remember where I read a review Ricochet, because I went straight ahead and one-clicked it!

For Fallon cover - (un)Conventnional Bookviews

For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate #1) – Soraya Naomi

We all have a façade, a concealed mask we wear to portray ourselves to the world.

Fallon’s mask is real, what you see is what you get. Growing up with two loving parents in Chicago, graduating in Chicago, and now working a job she loves, she enjoys her life.

Her untarnished world is shaken when Luca crosses her path.

Luca’s mask is tightly controlled. Distrust, rivalry, and violence rule his life.

When confronted with insecurities, when the one you love wears his mask perfectly, when your life unravels and you don’t know why, do you keep trusting the person you love?

Everyone has a façade. Everyone has an ulterior motive.

Did you get some exciting-looking books this week? Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves and or Bought, Borrowed and Bagged post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.

  1. I´m supposed to have a full stop on buying books, but suddenly I found myself ordering “Anna and the french kiss” by Stephanie Perkins and “Every last word” by Tamara Ireland Stone. Ooops 🙂 I have to admit; I can´t wait to read them 🙂 🙂

  2. Oooohhhhh, Ricochet sounds SOOOOO good! I just added it on Goodreads. I might need to just go buy it. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Guess what, Lexxie?? We have 2 books recently acquired in common. Can you guess which ones? I bet you can. I got my copy of Knave of Broken Hearts this morning. *squee* And I also one-clicked Ricochet. They’ll both appear on my BB&B post next weekend. 🙂 I’m looking forward to our buddy reads, my dear. And I hope your weekend was wonderful! **BIG HUGS**
