The Sunday Post #55 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
As you know, I spent the week in Spain, and wile the beginning of the week was a little cool, it warmed up, and we actually stayed at the beach for the afternoon. My husband and the kids went into the water, I kind of dipped my feet in, but that was enough for me. Sitting in a beach chair with my kindle, feeling the sun on my face, and the slight breeze in my hair was very good! Now, we have no more breaks until Christmas, and so we need to hang on with both hands for this last stretch of the year.
These pictures were taken from my balcony on Thursday evening, with my iPhone, and using no kind of filter. The colors were so beautiful I couldn’t stop myself from taking a new picture every minute!
Last night, we changed to winter time, so it will get dark earlier. I hope we’ll have some sun for a little while longer, as the dark makes me want to hibernate, but the sun is worth getting up for 😉

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Nice pics Lexxie! I’m not a fan of the earlier dark either, the one thing about this time of year I really don’t like. Love the holidays this time of year, but still need sun! 🙂
Nice links, I’ve been enjoying those posts over at Michelle’s. have a nice week.
Yeah, sun and light is definitely important. And here in Europe, we don’t have all the holidays you guys have, we have neither Halloween nor Thanksgiving, we do have something we call the Escalade in the beginning of December, though, which is a local holiday in Geneva.
Thanks for stopping by, Greg 🙂
Love the pictures you have shared here!! Beautiful sky there. I love the beach, I don’t live near the sea so its always a treat when I get to go. So peaceful.
Thank you, Renee 🙂 We don’t have the sea very close when we’re at home, either, Switzerland is beautiful in other ways, though 🙂
Your Photos are gorgeous. I always think the sunrises and sunsets seem to be even more spectacular at this time of year. And you just reminded me about the time change! I knew it last night but had forgotten this morning! Yay, I just gained an hour 😀
I agree, the colors are so wonderful in fall, they’re crisper somehow, maybe because the weather is a little cooler 🙂
I’m glad you gained an hour when you got up this morning, Trish 🙂 I did the same thing, but I had to hurry up and drive one of my sons to the ice rink for his hockey game…
Gorgeous view! Time will be changing here soon. I hate so much darkness and can hardly wait til it is summertime again.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like hibernating when it gets dark like this, Sherry. Maybe that’s another reason why I found that sunset so beautiful – light and colors!
That sunset! Stunning! I hope you had a great time in Spain. (Is it possible to NOT have a great time in Spain?) Sitting on the beach reading sounds like a great way to spend a week. I’m struggling a bit to adjust to the earlier dark this year, but I’m definitely enjoying the cooler temperatures that autumn has brought. I was done with DC’s heat and humidity.
Have a great week!
LOL, no it’s not possible to NOT have a great time in Spain! I didn’t want to leave, alas, hockey games and school took precedence over my wants 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Kim!
I need to copy you and put more pics on my blog because I LOVE your pics. Thanks for sharing a wee little slice of your vacation! I’m glad it warmed it so you could get a shot of sunshine before the winter dark. Holy cow, winter time already!! I’ll have to check to see when we switch, it’s got to be soon *sob*.
I love sharing pics every now and then, but I should try to do it even more often – I also love looking at pictures on other blogs 🙂
I wish there was no change of time between summer and winter… I don’t really have a choice, though 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Kristin.
Great pics! The colours are so beautiful!! I don’t blame you for taking so many photos, I was the same during sunrise in Milan 😀 it makes you think all kinds of wonderful things doesn’t it?
On the break front, at least you have something to look forward to in Christmas 🙂 whoop! Time off and all that. I hope you enjoyed Spain.
Have a great week,
Amy x
Yes, a beautiful sunset or sunrise just makes everything seem clear and bright somehow 🙂 We had a really good time in Spain, it’s always nice to go there to relax and recharge our batteries 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Amy.
Those pics of the evening sky in Spain are gorgeous Lexxie! And it sounds like you had a great break…. And are hopefully ready to take on the rest of the year!
I should definitely be ready to take on the rest of the year now, Deb 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Ok so I am going to admit that I love when it gets dark early. I don’t know why I just do. Ours starts next Sunday I am rather excited about it lol. The dark and chilly nights just make me want to cuddle with the dog and read. I would have said the kids but if you cuddle and read with them, they talk to much and wiggle around and stretch…the dog just stays in one place and doesn’t talk 😉 I am and always will be a winter girl.
Those pictures are breathtaking, the sky is beautiful like that. Those pinks and oranges in the sky are always so pretty.
I hope you have a wonderful week Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox
I actually love winter, too, Michelle, but I prefer it when it’s nice and light outside. When I was a kid, I spent all my time either skating or cross-country skiing; even in the evening.
While I get the staying inside, huddled up on the couch and reading a good book, I can do that even during the day 😉
Thanks for stopping by, Michelle!
Beautiful pics! The clocks went back last night here too and it seems to suddenly feel wintry!!
I hope you have had a lovely time in Spain and you have a great week!
Yes, wintry and dark! Oh well, hopefully we will actually get some snow, that usually lights up the nights a little bit 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Heather.
Spectacular images! Must have been wonderful to see and sounds like you had a lovely time in Spain. Yep, now we are heading towards Christmas already!
Thank you, Laura. We did have a lovely time, and it was nice to get a last stab at summer before winter truly starts 🙂

The pictures are awesome. We fall back next weekend. I am looking forward to the extra hour of sleep..lol The holidays are nearly upon us. We have company coming in November so things will start to get crazy..but a good kind of crazy.
Thank you, Kim! The colors were even more spectacular for real, but I am very happy with how the pictures turned out.
The extra hour of sleep is already used up, it seems… maybe I will feel it tomorrow, too, when we have to get up early for school and work 🙂
OMG You went to spain?! That is crazy awesome! Yay for time change! Ours is November the 1st but I cannot wait. I am a big fan of the cold 😀 I saw that post by Anna but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I love her Rock the Blog posts!
Yup, we went to Spain for the kids’ week of fall vacation 🙂 It was very nice!
I enjoy the cold, too, but I don’t really enjoy the dark all that much. Now it’s just after six pm, and it’s pitch dark already… Which means that when I leave my class on Tuesday it will be dark already, and that just makes it harder 🙂
Spain sounds wonderful and those pictures are lovely. Our time change is this coming weekend, blergh, but an extra hour of sleep Saturday night will be nice.
I also tend to hibernate when it gets dark. Is it spring yet? 😛
Have a good week!
Spain was wonderful, Bea, but as usual, I didn’t want to leave… The extra hour of sleep is all good, but the very dark early evenings is less good… Have a great week yourself, Bea 🙂
Gorgeous photos! You live in gorgeous places….I always enjoy seeing my son’s photos of various places in Europe where he has been.
I think our time change is next weekend….it used to be the last one in October, but then they changed it. I always feel a bit confused about it…LOL.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
There are many beautiful places in the US, too, Laurel-Rain! We’re quite lucky here in Europe, though, because other countries are very close, but both the culture, the language and the food differs from one country to the next 🙂
A few years ago, our time change was in late September, now it’s late October… I would love to see some actual research to prove that it actually does save electricity to change the time like this!
Isn’t that the life? Sitting on the beach with a Kindle? That is my life goal right there – to make that my daily routine.
Oh, I wish I could make that my daily routine, too, Lyn! When I retire that’s definitely the plan, though… even if that’s in quite a long while 😉
Every time I read about your place in Spain I am soooo jealous. And, how fabulous you get an early fall break to enjoy a warmer clime. 🙂
It was definitely wonderful to be in the warmer climate for a week, Steph 🙂 I wish I could live there all year!
Sounds like you enjoyed your week of vacation! Those pictures are stunning! What a sight it must’ve been to see that in real life. We also switched to winter time yesterday. I enjoyed an extra hour of sleep ;). I hope you’ll have a great week!
Yes, vacation is always pleasant, Lola 🙂 And you’re right, that sunset was stunning in real life 🙂 Have a great week yourself 🙂
Beeeautiful pictures. You have to hashtag #nofilter lol. Well, Christmas isn’t too far away, so you won’t have to hold on too long. 😉
Thank you, Christy 🙂 I used the hashtag on IG 😉 Thanks for stopping by.
Those pictures are beautiful and it sounds like you had a nice trip. It is getting darker earlier here too and by the time I get home it feels later than it really is. I hope you have a great week!
I know, when it’s dark, I just want to sleep! And that’s not really a good thing 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Kathy.
Your photos are beautiful! I’ve always wanted to go to Spain. It’s great you’re getting to spend this time with your family. Have a wonderful trip!
Spain is a beautiful country, Tiffany, I hope you’ll be able to visit it one day 🙂
Oh wow, those are beautiful photos! I love seeing the colors in the sky on certain nights. I’m glad you had a nice break – I hope your time leading up to Christmas goes well. :O) Our time here changes on Saturday (Halloween). It’s always strange to have it be dark really early. haha
-Lauren
I love the colors in the sky like that, too, Lauren. And yes, having a little break was really nice 🙂
Spain sounds so amazing!! I hope to be able to visit one day! I hope this week is good too! 😀
I love Spain, Tracy 🙂 I hope you’ll be able to visit, too!
Oh I just love those pictures! The colors are gorgeous! I would have had to take pictures too 😀 I’m with you on the hibernating when winter gets here and it gets dark earlier. We are going to be turning our time this weekend so it will be getting dark here earlier as well. I hope you are having an amazing week so far!
Thanks, Jaclyn 🙂 Yes, those colors blew me away, so beautiful, and the pictures turned out really well, too.
I hate switching between summer and winter time, but we don’t really have a choice. I hope it will not be too dark in your corner of the world once the change happens this weekend.
Oh my word. Those photos are amazing! What a gorgeous view!
Thanks so much for the post shout out!
Thank you, Anna! I was amazed they turned out so beautiful 🙂

I am one of those weird people that likes winter better than summer-and I do hibernate a lot during the winter, usually because I can’t walk on ice due to my botched knee replacement. Just gives me more time to read 🙂 I love your pictures and I am jealous of your trip to Spain 🙂

OMG Spain! I’m glad your family got to go to the beach 🙂 And of course, you need your kindle to read at the beach! Those pictures are gorgeous!
Those photos are lovely, Lexxie! I’m happy y’all had such a nice time in Spain. The time switch is hard. Of course, I have no issue getting up – was up at 3:58 this morning. But I can’t stay up… We’ll just have to enjoy the sun as much as we can! I hope your week is off to a good start – oh, and that last week was great, too! *ha* Looking forward to our chat… **BIG HUGS**
Thank you, Brandee! I never want to go back to Geneva when we’re in Spain. It’s so nice and warm close to the sea, and the food is so good 🙂
I don’t really have any trouble getting up in the morning these days, either, but I would love to take a nap in the afternoon 😀
I look forward to our chat to, my dear! *BIG HUGS*
