The Sunday Post #69 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kim over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

This week was rather busy, both with the classes I teach, and with meetings in the evening. On Thursday evening, there was a general meeting for all the teachers at my school, and while I wasn’t obliged to go, I figured it would be a good thing to meet some of the other teachers. Especially because there was a raclette evening after the meeting was over. It almost felt like the first day in a new school at first, since most of the other teachers already know each other really well, and I didn’t know anyone. It didn’t take me too long to strike up conversation and get to know the others for a while.

I have also planned my trip to Norway in late March to go to pick up Freddy, and I’m so excited. I’ll stay for two nights in Norway, and then I can have him with me in the cabin on the plane when I come back here. Youngest can’t wait to finally meet him, she feels as if time is moving so slowly, but I’m sure March will suddenly be over and he’ll be here at home with us.

  1. I hope your weekend and week ahead are filled with lots of good reading! I’m sure March will be here in a dash, it seems like this year has been going fast already! 🙂 Raclette sounds so good BTW…

Thanks for the links too, I saw several of those posts this week. Good stuff!

    • LOL Daniela 🙂 The Belt scene… I think that in the grand scheme of things, he just had to make sure she realized that if he said something would happen, it would. And I guess because that’s one of the things that came into his mind, that’s what he then had to do…
I’m a little shy, too, and it was a bit hard to strike up conversation like that, but I ended up having a really nice evening.

  2. I’m glad you got the opportunity to meet some other teachers, but I did have to google what raclette was! (And I now know!)

I’m pretty good at schmoozing but it’s all an act – a bravado I don’t really feel (and I can’t sustain it for long!).

Exciting to have the Norway trip planned!

  3. A special evening for raclette ? Lol, it’s a nice opportunity to really meet people and start a conversation. March will be here soon, we saw cranes flying over our heads yesterday with their specific cries, we couldn’t believe it – spring is coming ? And that Tucker book I will have to read soon, it’s expensive in France but I’ll have to read it anyway. Enjoy your week-end, I hope it’s as sunny as ours is, bisous !

    • Yes, it was a very nice opportunity to meet the other teachers 🙂 And raclette is also delicious 😀
Cranes already? that’s crazy, Iza! We had a very rainy Sunday, and today is windy. I can already feel the pollen, too, though, so spring is definitely on its way.

  4. It is wonderful that you got to meet some of the other teachers. March is just a few short weeks away. Life with a puppy is definitely a lot of fun…and a lot of work. Sometimes with my 7 month old and my 3 month old puppies, I feel like we have a newborn again. Of course, since you are getting one puppy instead of two, it shouldn’t be that bad. Why did I get a second puppy? Have a great week, Lexxie!

    • I’m doing the same kind of planning for Freddy’s arrival as I did when we were expecting a baby, Carole 🙂 He’s going to be little when he arrives, so I think we need to know that he might be up during the night and everything.
I can totally understand getting a second puppy, though. I don’t think we’ll do that – we need to get to know Freddy well, and then in a few years, we’ll see 🙂

  5. It has been so long since I’ve lived with a puppy. I think I must’ve been in high school or maybe even middle school. My current dog was a rescue and was about a year old. The previous dog was DH when I met him and was about a year old. I do miss puppies. We had talked about getting a rescue and then buying a puppy after the rescue got settled, but Duncan was a handful on his own and his is a bit of a loner, so the puppy never happened. Don’t know what I’ll do next. I would be very excited. I bet waiting is really hard. Glad you got to meet some of the other teachers. Hope you have a great week.

    • We had a puppy when I was six years old, but since then, I haven’t had any dogs, so it’s definitely going to be a big adjustment. That’s why I wanted to have a puppy, not a rescue. I think to have a rescue we have to be really good with dogs in advance, but at a later stage, we might do that.

      • Both puppies and rescues have their pluses and minuses. My rescue came house broken and was passed the chewing stag, but had other issues like separation anxiety. You have to do what is best for both your family and the dog so that everyone can be happy. I always get upset when I see rescue people shame people who purchase dogs. I only shame people who buy from petstores, never people who buy responsibly.

  6. Wow-you had a great review week-all 5’s and 4’s! I couldn’t finish Mercury Striking. It just was NOT for me! Can’t wait to see pictures of the puppy in March!

  7. I always get so nervous meeting new people and talking. Even though I can talk your ear off I am very shy in the beginning. I get all awkward lol. I am glad you got to meet some of the teachers.

I can’t wait to see pictures of you all with the puppy! I am getting excited for you! Puppies are so much fun.

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox

    • I am usually nervous for a little bit, too, Michelle. Apart from when I’m teaching, then I’m always OK with talking, getting to know my students and all.
We are really excited, too, and every week that passes now is one week closer to when Freddy will be here 🙂

  8. Planning a trip to Norway sounds fun especially since it means getting your puppy! And then the fun continues when you bring him home 🙂 Hope you get to do some fun touristy stuff in Norway too. I’ve heard it is a beautiful country.

    Have a great week!

  9. Yay for Freddy!! So much fun… yeah… fun… tee, hee (puppies are sooooo worth it!!) And I HAD to Google Raclette b/c had NO clue what that was!!!! But cheese and meats and I’m on board! What, you just slap something to grill on tabletop grill and then top it with the Raclette cheese? In Midwest America, we’re pretty boring…. *snooze*

Fighting Dirty – FIVE STARS baby!!!! Oh yeah!!! Have a great week!!

    • We mostly use potatoes and the special melted cheese only, Kristin. Then we have dried meats (ham mostly) as a side to that 🙂 But yeah, lots of people also use thin slices of meat on the tabletop grill. It’s delicious and quite festive 🙂

  10. I had to google raclette but it sounds delicious! That’s great that you were able to meet some new teachers and get involved in the conversation. I hate those situations where you really feel like you don’t know anyone and everyone else knows everyone! Enjoy your visit to Norway and have a great week!

  11. I have to admit I had never heard the word raclette before so I googled it. So an evening of that would be like a cheese tasting? Something like that? I can’t wait to see more puppy pictures when you get Freddy. Puppies are so much fun, but can be a handful too. Hope you have a good week 🙂

  12. It sounds like you had a good week even if it was busy, Lexxie. I’m glad you went to the teachers meeting – that was a great networking opportunity and you had some fun! And raclette – which I had to look up! *ha* I know #4 can’t wait to meet Freddy – at least there is a timeframe for her now. Maybe she can mark the days on a calendar. 🙂 March will be here before we know it! Have a great week!! **BIG HUGS**

    • Yes, it was a great evening, Brandee, and I figured I would have to make the first step in getting to know them. Because of the hours I have, I don’t really get to see the other teachers much during the week, as I hardly spend any time in the teachers’ lounge.
I know March will be here soon, and we do have a countdown going 😀 *BIG HUGS*

  13. Glad to see you loved He Will Be My Ruin. I read Fighting Dirty last week and loved Armie and Merissa’s story. A new puppy will be so much fun.

    • Late nights at school is not good, Charlie! We don’t have stuff going on in the evening very often, and I’m sure our system is very different from the US system, we have allocated (paid) time outside of teaching so we have less hours in front of a class.
I hope this week will be a bit calmer for you.

  14. I’m assuming Freddie is a new pet? That sounds fun and Norway is on my wishlist to visit someday so that sounds great too. Well done for mixing so well at the teachers night, I always find things like that such an effort as I’m shy but when I make the effort I’m always so happy that I did.

    • Freddy is a puppy who was born a few weeks ago. My mom’s dog is his father, and that’s what really made me feel like I was ready for a puppy, now, Trish.
It was a bit of an effort in the beginning, but I ended up having a great evening.
