Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #60
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
I found some great Thirsty Thursday quotes in The Year We Turned Forty, and I really enjoyed the story of three friends who had a chance for a do-over of the year they turned forty.
My Thirsty Thursday quote:
“Will you stop? You look amazing!” Gabriela smiled as she handed Jessie a champagne flute, looking at Claire, both of them rolling their eyes, knowing Jessie would never understand how naturally pretty she was. ”
[…] Gabriela uncorked another bottle of bubbly. “My agent told me his ‘people’ sent these to me.”
[…] Jessie laughed. “Don’t be such a skeptic!” She pointed at Claire’s champagne flute. “Just keep sipping on that. It will make everything seem fuzzy and magical.” Claire obliged, taking a sip, swiping a copy of Las Vegas magazine off the table with Blair’s face on the cover, trying to ignore the way his onyx eyes seemed to see right through her.
Of course, if you’ve met me in person, you know that I absolutely love sipping champagne… it’s just filled with those sparkly bubbles and always opened for happy occasions!
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
FIVE weeks until we’ll be sipping champagne TOGETHER, Lexxie…or whatever else we decide on. 😉 The Year We Turned Forty sounds interesting. Seems like these girls have a close friendship – that I can relate to. 🙂 I’m curious about the do-over…would you want a do-over?
**BIG HUGS**
That we will, Brandee! And probably some other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well 🙂 This story was really good, and no – I wouldn’t want a do-over! I’m sure every little thing done differently might implicate changes I wouldn’t want! *BIG HUGS*
I’m all for sipping some champagne! I could hang with these girls. 🙂
Sipping champagne with girlfriends is among my favorite pastimes, Tanya 🙂
Then we could definitely hang, too! 🙂
That would be fun, Tanya!!
Love sipping champagne. Reading posts from this meme always makes me so hungry — I need to learn to do it after lunch. Sounds like a cute book. Thanks for sharing!
I usually get hungry reading other people’s posts for this meme, even if I just finished eating 😀

This book sounds pretty good. I actually can’t handle champagne, I never know when to stop. It goes down so innocently and causes the worst headache the next day, lol.
LOL Karen, that could definitely become a problem!! The trick is to only have enough for a couple of glasses per person 😉
Champagne is the best, especially with good friends! I want some now, Lexxie….thanks for sharing.
I agree, Laurel-Rain! Champagne is definitely the best, and having some with great friends just makes everything better 🙂

I had to give up my champagne and wine sips years ago. The migraines would come right after, so I stopped. I think my last champagne sip was in 2012 at my sister-in-law’s wedding reception.
That’s awful, Lekeisha! I’m the same way with white wine, which makes me really sad 🙁
I am not a fan of champagne. I would much rather have a beer. Yes, I am a beer girl. When we go to the winery, I still order a beer. My friends can’t take me anywhere. I do love the happy occasions that usually go along with the champagne 🙂
I actually love beer, too, Carole! Craft-beer is the best, especially on a hot summer day 🙂

I’m more of a “flat” drinker, bubblies make me belch a lot and it’s very unladylike! lol
When we meet – because I’m sure we’ll meet one day, finishing off each other’s sentences with a song! – we can belch and be unladylike together, Braine 😉
Ahhh champagne is one of those good in theory for me but I never actually like it once I have it 🙁 It’s kinda like yogurt for me that way. lol
