Top Ten Tuesday #26 – Top Ten New-to-Me Authors Read in 2014

This week on Top Ten Tuesday is about the Top Ten new-to-me authors I read this year. Β My links go to Goodreads on the author name, and Booklikes on the title, to help you add more books to your own TBR in case you haven’t got these on there yet.

Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go, as usual, my list is in no particular order :

Anne Tibbet, I first read her book Carrier for a blogtour, and I was completely hooked!

Ilona Andrews! Yeah, I had never read any of their books before, but now I’m hooked on Kate Daniels πŸ™‚

Robin LaFevers, who has written one of the most amazing historical fictions I have ever read. What I enjoyed the most in her His Fair Assassin series was that there were some actual historical facts included.

I also read my first Chuck Wendig book in 2014, I loved The Blue Blazes which is kind of a mix of Sic-Fi, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal and Steam-punk.

Finally, I read my first Tiffany Reisz book, too. I first read Misbehavin’ then I graduated to The Siren, and I can’t wait to read more books by her.

My great discovery for 2014 was Red Rising by debut author Pierce Brown.

I had Debbie Macomber’s Call Me Mrs. Miracle on my kindle for almost a year before I read it…

I loved Unleashing Mr. Darcy by Teri Wilson, and I’m sure I’ll read more books by her in the future.

Ava Dallaria’s Love Letters to the Dead made it to my kindle and brought me lots of enjoyment, too.

Last, but not least, Sarah Harian’s The Wicked We Have Done.

Please leave me a link to your post so I can check it out!

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a terrific Tuesday, and happy reading.

    • That’s one of the great things about these memes – I always discover even more authors whose books I can add to my shelves, Jessica πŸ™‚ Happy reading.

  1. I’m a huge Tiffany Reisz and Ilona Andrews fan. You still have plenty of books to keep you busy from both of those authors. Some new to me authors include: Wendy Sparrow, Sydney Croft, Jim Butcher, Dannika Dark, Rebecca Zanetti, Pamela Palmer, K.J. Charles (recommendation from Tiffany Reisz), Kelly Meade, Michael Koryta, and Anne Bishop.

    • I have been a fan of Jim Butcher, Dannika Dark and Rebecca Zanetti for a while already. I do need to check out K.J. Charles, though πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing Melanie!

  2. Gah! The only author on your list I’ve read is Ilona Andrews. And I know how much you loved the other 9…I need to get with it. πŸ˜‰ Of course, they’re all on my tbr thanks to you.

Hope you’re having a terrific day, Lexxie! **BIG HUGS**

    • LOL we keep managing to ‘help’ each other add more books to those shelves, Brandee πŸ™‚ You are aware that I have a ‘Brandee-recs’ shelf on Goodreads, right?
I have a pretty bad sinus infection that suddenly started yesterday, and all I want to do is sleep πŸ™ But I had a presentation in class today, so I had to go anyway… *BIG HUGS*

    • I’m the same way often, Stormi, I keep seeing authors and books that look really good, but there just isn’t enough time.
      Happy reading πŸ™‚

  3. What a coincidence I just scheduled a post about this topic for the end of the year on my blog. I enjoy finding new amazing authors!
I don’t think I have read a book by any of the authors you mentioned, beside Ilona Andrews. I have read magic Bites, but didn’t really enjoy it, although people say the series get’s better in the second book I haven’t been in a hurry to pick up the second book.

    • That’s great, Lola! I think going around to see what authors other bloggers discovered this year is great, too. Of course, that makes me keep adding more books to my TBR shelves.
I can understand you didn’t run to pick up the second book if you didn’t think Magic Bites was too good, Lola. We can’t all love all the books πŸ™‚

  4. Wonderful TTT picks Lexxie! I actually *just* started reading Grave Mercy (FINALLY) and even though I’m only at like chapter 7, I’m already enjoying it a lot πŸ˜€ I’ve heard really wonderful things about Red Rising too so I really need to check that one out! Hope your having a great week – oh and I apologize for the radio silence on my end, I moved last month and ended up without internet at home for over 2 weeks o_O *cringe* I’m only starting to catch up this week hehe!
    xx

    • YAY for Grave Mercy, Micheline! That whole series is amazing, the mix of historical facts and complete fiction made it very vivid.
Don’t worry about silence. It’s that time of the year – we’re all busy. And moving only to find out you had no internet must have made life very difficult. That happened when we moved in here, too. Internet worked for three days, then it was all gone :O and it took ages to get everything to work again.
Have a great week yourself πŸ™‚

  5. What an interesting list! I haven’t read any of the authors you’ve listed here, so I guess they are new-to-me, too! Will have to check some of them out. My first visit to your blog (followed a Twitter link), so I’m glad I discovered it!
