15 Day Book Blogger Challenge – Day 5 – Recommend a tear-jerker

This great book blogger challenge is hosted by April @Good Books and Good Wine , and I really have to thank April for this excellent idea. There’s a link-up at April’s blog if you want to participate as well πŸ™‚

Ok, so I do have a tear-jerker or more to recommend, I could probably recommend lots and lots. I don’t know why, but when a book manages to completely touch my heart, and all of my emotions, I feel like I’ve read a really great book! The last excellent tear-jerker I read that I truly loved was Ten Tiny Breaths - (un)Conventional BookviewsTen Tiny Breaths by K. A. Tucker. Kacey just touched all of my heart-strings. She had been through a really traumatic experience, kind of survived, then acted out in the worst ways before finally starting to really live and trust again… And my did I cry!

Other books that really touched me and had me tear up are Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover, Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi and Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. I see a theme here, as all these books are New Adult. I don’t know why, but the New Adults I’ve read have been really good, as well as a true tear-jerker.

What are your tear-jerker recommendations?

Thanks for stopping by – have a fantastic Friday and happy reading.

  1. I have Ten Tiny Breaths on my Kindle although I’ve yet to read it. After reading your post today I don’t know whether to feel excitement or dread given that it reduced you to tears πŸ™ I love that it was able to evoke such a powerful response but I tend to avoid books that can prove emotionally devastating (i.e. The reason I’ve yet to read Morgan Matson’s Second Chance Summer despite the fact I know I’ll probably end up loving it) All joking aside, I’m really looking forward to reading this one! πŸ˜€ I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it.

    • But the story is so powerful! And if you know in advance there might be crying at least you will be forewarned, Jen πŸ™‚ I hope you’ll give it a try, it’s a truly awesome story.

    • I don’t thinks there’s anything specific and I didn’t exactly cry, but I did tear up in different places just because Juliette has been through so much ugly in her life, and for a while she didn’t even dare to hope things could ever get better.

Thanks for stopping by Lil πŸ™‚

  2. I have Ten Tiny Breaths on my ereader (is it terrible I can remember which one?!?: πŸ˜‰ but I have yet to read it. Shatter Me and Losing Hope are the same. • No, I haven’t read Me Before You, I’ll check it out. I haven’t read Forbidden either… So many good books!

    • I really loved it, Angelica. It was pretty hard at times, because of everything the MC has been through, but it is beautifully written πŸ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Yeah, I can understand steering away from emotional books, I love me some crying every now and then, though πŸ™‚
