15 Day Challenge - (un)Conventnional BookviewsWelcome to my day 9 of the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge! As you probably already know, this cool challenge was invented, and is hosted by April over at Good Books and Good Wine. If you want to sign up, it’s not too late, there are linkys for all the days, and I believe they are valid for six months. I’ve had a lot of fun with this challenge so far, and I’ve gotten to know more bloggers I hadn’t interacted with much in the past.

Why Do You Blog About Books?

That’s a very good question, atually. Because I could have started a blog about travel, too – since I love to travel and am lucky enough to be able to go places several times per year. I also could have started a music blog – I love different kinds of music just as much as I love different genres of books.

I think the main reason why I started to blog about books is that I signed up on Goodreads in 2010, after some online bookish friends told me about it. Little by little, my circle of Goodreads friends expanded, and I was introduced to new to me authors, and genres I wasn’t familiar with. As you know, several Goodreads users also have a blog. About books. And I visited those blogs for a long time, loving how beautiful they were, how much freedom the blogger had to make her reviews look the way she wanted – with her favorite colors, different fonts, headings, pictures, gifs, – and I started thinking about starting my own blog.

It took a while still before I took the plunge, though, and I am really happy I did! I think the book blogging community is really awesome! I’ve met many interesting and fun people through my blog, and there are now several other bloggers I consider real friends! So from a love of books and reading, I guess the next step really was to blog about books.

Today, I’m going to Paris with one of my best friends. She lives in Canada. We met online first, before we met for real, and this is the third year we’re going to Paris together. On Sunday, we have tickets almost at the finish line of the Tour de France. Our hotel is very close to Shakespeare & Co, so I know I’ll be browsing for books while I’m there too. Since today’s post is about why I blog about books – I thought I should ask you guys if maybe I should also blog a little about my trip to Paris? Incorporate some bookis things? Take a picture of something you have read about? It could become a fun little feature – if you have read a book where the characters were in Paris, is there something you’d like me to try to check out?

Thanks for stopping by! I might not be able to answer comments very quickly during this weekend, even if there is wifi in the hotel. I probably won’t be spending too much time inside.

    • Hey Robyn:) I’ll plan for at least one book, and I promise some pictures for when I get back… I’ll create a travel tag just for this trip ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Don’t be green! I’ll share lots of photos! I’ll even try to find that one park from ‘Just One Day’ for you ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Thanks for stopping by, Lizzy!

  1. I’m so glad you ended up taking the plunge Lexxie! <3 The book blogging community really is an amazing community, even with the ups and downs we experience, we're ultimately still always there for each other.

So excited about you going to Paris! I hope you have a wonderful time with your friend. You should DEFINITELY blog about your trip. I'd love to hear about all the things you get up to! Pictures for sure! <3

    • Thank you so much, Alice! I’m really happy I took the plunge as well. The book-blogging community is awesome, and I’ve met so many people!

      Thanks for stopping by ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh, I need to go catch up, then, Stormi!! I love your blog, the mix you’ve added is awesome! Even if you post mostly about books, you’ve left the door open for other things as well.

  2. Have fun in Paris! My best friend and I went three years ago, and just last night I read Anna and the French Kiss. While I was reading, I texted her about the Shakespeare and Co. bookstore. We went to Notre Dame, but never made it to the bookstore. As avid readers, I don’t know how we missed it!

  3. Gah! I’m extremely envious, Lexxie. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you have a splendid time in Paris! And you must absolutely blog about the trip! I want to live vicariously through you! LOL I can’t think of Paris and any book I’ve read right offhand, but I’ll comment again if something comes to mind.

I, personally, am glad you chose to blog about books because I may not have met you otherwise. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great time, Lexxie!

  4. Oh, Brandee! I guess I’m pretty lucky to only live 3 hours from Paris by train, eh? So far, I’m having a great time! We’ve shared three bottles of champagne!

I’m very happy I’m book-blogging, too, so I could meet you!!

    *hugs*
