2015 Countdown Survey

Posted 1 January, 2016 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Wrap-up Posts / 27 Comments

Another countdown survey seemed to fit my mood today, so when I found out that Novel Ink is hosting this one, I wanted to participate as well 🙂 It’s fairly simple, with ten questions about books and bookish things to share and also a way to reflect on what I read during 2015.

Countdown Survey – What Happened in 2015

10- 2016 Books You’re Excited About

Morning Star (Red Rising Trilogy #3) by Pierce Brown
Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry
Fighting Dirty (Ultimate #4) by Lori Foster
He Will Be My Ruin by K. A. Tucker
Invision (Chronicles of Nick #7) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
The Bourbon Thief by Tiffany Reisz
This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling #15) by Nalini Singh
Sweet Little Lies (Heartbreaker’s Bay #1) by Jill Shalvis

9- Favorite Covers of 2015

Anarchy Found If the Viscount Falls Dirty English Need Surviving Ice A Madness So Discreet A Winter Wedding Immersed

Their Fractured Light

8- Books That Surprised You (Either in a good or bad way)
Heartbreaker’s Bet by Donna Cummings – a great surprise because for a short novella, I got completely invested in the characters and felt like I got a complete story!

Anarchy Found by J.A Huss was another great surprise, because she managed to flawlessly mix her romantic suspense with superheroes, and I loved it!

The Queen by Tiffany Reisz was a wonderful surprise, too. I think the main reason was that I loved how The Original Sinners series ended, and while I was (and am!) sad it is over, I still felt like the story had come full circle.

The Canterbury Sisters by Kim Wright took me completely by surprise, too. I don’t read much ‘chick lit’ and this book just made me want to walk to Canterbury myself – it was a beautiful pilgrimage.

The whole Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose was a wonderful surprise as well, because while I love sports romances, I have no idea about baseball, and didn’t really expect to enjoy reading about baseball-players.

The Piano Man Project by Kat French was great, because it was a very different take on contemporary romances, and I loved how the girls worked together to try to find their best friend the perfect man.

The Sweet Salvation Brewery series by Avery Flynn is another that got better and better with each instalment, and it was a fun buddy read with my friend Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee

The Strongest Steel by Scarlett Cole was a great surprise, too, because I expected an angsty NA romance (which I got) but it was so much more!

7- Books You Didn’t Get To in 2015

Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost
The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Haeberlin
The Shadows by J.R. Ward
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
The Cage by Megan Shepherd

6- Books That Gave You All the Feels/Made You Cry

The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
Happily Ever After by J.A. Huss
Relentless Rhythm by Michelle Mankin
Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley
The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand
Wasted Lust by J.A. Huss

5- Golden Finds (Unpopular Books You Loved)

Monday’s Lie by Jamie Mason
Everything You And I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You And I by Albert Espinosa
If You Wrong Us by Dawn Klehr
Unwritten by Chelsea Cameron
Material Girls by Elaine Dimopoulos

4- Books You Wish Were Movies/TV Shows

Their Fractured Light – that whole series could definitely work as either movies or TV shows, there is a lot going on that I would love to watch.

The Golden Son – this whole series as well – I think there’s enough material for a TV show there, as there are many characters to follow and quite complex world building.

Anarchy Found would work great as a movie, the action, the romance, the superheroes… yeah, I would definitely go see that!

The Rest of Us Just Live Here could be a movie as well, I loved the book, and I think it could work on the big screen.

3 – Series You Started

SuperAlpha  by J.A. Huss
Thunder Road by Katie McGarry
The Original Sinners by Tiffany Reisz – I read the whole series in 2015, and I loved it!

2 – Books Everyone Loved But You Didn’t

This one is actually the most difficult to me – I didn’t really read many books I didn’t enjoy, but I will go with these two:
The Iron Hunt by Marjorie M. Liu
The Fallen Star by Jessica Sorensen

1 – Best Book of 2015

Really? Do you even know how hard it was to make a top ten favorite books for me for this year? And now I’m supposed to choose one and only one? OK, because I haven’t mentioned it anywhere else in this post, I’ll go with

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

I really hope 2016 will be as awesome when it comes to books, blogging and blogger friends as 2015 has been! Thanks for hanging out with me, commenting, and sharing the book love! Happy 2016! May the new year bring joy, love, happiness, a little naughtiness, fun, friendship, good health, success and amazing books!

I love this wrap up post! It’s cruel and unusual to have to choose just one best book… but I’m happy you chose November 9 as its on my TBR for (and will actually be read in) 2016.

Happy Reading and a Happy New Year’s!

Some great books here and ideas for other reads. Happy reading for 2016 and happy New year.

    • Eh… I think all the books I mentioned in the survey were favorites 😉 And since I hadn’t mentioned November 9, and it needed to be on there!
I hope I’ll get to He Will Be My Ruin very soon, and I’m so happy you loved it, Grace.

  3. I’m ridiculously excited about Allegiance of Honor too. (Even though I still need to read Shards of Hope). I didn’t get around to reading Illuminae either, even though I’ve been hearing a lot of really positive things about it.

  4. Ooh, I loved reading this and reminiscing over your year (and mine) in books, Lexxie. I’d kinda forgotten Wasted Lust was a ‘snot-fest’ but I now remember the ugly cry. 😉 Thanks for sharing the year that was and the year to look forward to! I look forward to more buddy reads in 2016! <3
