Charming is a story in the Seven series, and it was delightful to get to know Prince better… I thought he was so ornery, but getting to understand him made a big difference.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Prince was really the one character I already knew when I started listening to Charming, and I really enjoyed him. I was intrigued by Nadia at first, but she also came across as both bitchy and quite distant, especially after I got to know her twin sister Kat… She is a strong woman, and Alpha, and she listens to her instincts that tell her their dad is still alive, even if he has been missing for ten years. As a bounty hunter, she thinks she’s on the trail of the man who might have had something to do with her father’s disappearance, and it just so happens Prince has a bone to pick with the mage Vlad as well.

Poole is the perfect narrator for Charming, she has a repertoire of different voices and accents, and she’s amazing at amping up the tension when needed. And in tender moments, she expertly conveys the feelings needed for the listener to be completely engrossed in what is happening. There is quite a bit of mystery in Charming, as Kat is looking for her father, and she is both surprised and amazed that Prince is willing and able to help her out. There are some good fights, and Kat definitely knows how to hold her own. And of course, their wolves realize that Prince and Kat should be together before their human side does, and this is one of the things I really enjoy with shifter romances!

Kat really grew in this story, which is amazing to me, as it was a novella. Of course, I already knew the universe, and I had met Prince several times before, and he showed me a different side to himself as well. Kat is definitely the kind of woman who could be good with Prince, because she’s just as strong-minded as he is. The mystery, the overall story-arc and the plot were all well executed, and Poole narrated Charming to perfection!

  1. Curious what you rated this one? I loved it as well, and I am glad you enjoyed listening-I think I will end up getting the audio version sometime as well. I do like Nicole Poole’s narration a lot 🙂

  2. I really want to listen to audiobooks soon. I’m always reading paperbacks, but never audiobooks. I’ll have to start 🙂 Sometimes it’s good to just close your eyes and listen to stories.

  3. This sounds like my kind of book. There is just something that I can’t resist about a shifter romance. I actually haven’t read anything by Dannika Dark before but I will try to check out this series soon. I will also keep an eye out for books narrated by Nicole Poole. It doesn’t take long to figure out that a narrator can really make or break an audiobook. I try to look for the good narrators. Wonderful review, Lexxie!

  4. Funny I finished this before you but your review is posting before mine! 😉 I’m glad you enjoyed Charming, Lex. I really did as well. I liked how Kat grew over the course of the story and getting to see this side of Prince really changed my perspective about him. Who knew he could have fun?!? 😉 I like what you said about Poole’s narration…she does know how to convey the emotions and/or tension…the book I’m listening to right now, the narrator isn’t so good with that. Anyway, I’m happy you enjoyed Charming, my dear!
Happy Thursday! Can you believe this week is almost over? **BIG HUGS**

    • I had a space open for my three HW reviews in January, Brandee, that’s probably why my review is before yours 🙂 Kat was really a good character, and Prince managed to make me swoon, which surprised me!
Too bad the book you’re listening to know isn’t quite as good with the emotions or tension – it’s really hard to find excellent narrators!
Happy Thursday to you, too! *BIG HUGS*

Damn it! I thought the vibration was because of something else!

Good to see the series is still going strong!
