At 22 years old, Sydney has a great life: She’s in college; working a steady job; in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter; and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter's cheating on her - and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to his playing his guitar every day out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.…

Maybe Someday is a book I gave four stars to when I read the ARC just before it was released. I was a little bit hung up with the cheating, thinking of cheating and waffling on both Ridge’s and Sydney’s parts. Especially because I enjoyed Maggie and I felt so bad for her, even if Ridge and Sydney never actually crossed the line and did cheat.

However, listening to Maybe Someday, with a male and a female narrator made the experience very different. I was drawn into their conflicting feelings, and the way they were both holding back for fear of hurting Maggie, even as they were hurting themselves. And since each chapter is from either Ridge or Sydney’s point of view, having two different narrators worked extremely well. I think I’d actually rather recommend the audio-version than the written book in the case of Maybe Someday.

Both of the narrators worked very well for me, and I’ll be looking for both of them when I search for more audiobooks to listen to. I know that Angela Goethals has narrated other books by Colleen Hoover, and she did an awesome job with Maybe Someday. Listening to the anguish the characters went through made my experience more haunting, and strangely, it was easier for me to idientify with Sydney when I could hear her telling me her story.

Also, the back and forth between the narrators made the chapter breaks in Maybe Someday smoother, and I enjoyed both of the narrators voices, their switches were truly seamless, and added something more to the story in my opinion.

  1. Wow! I’m impressed that an audio book gave you a better ‘reading’ experience than reading the book did. I swear you’re going to make me break down and do an audio book, Lex! I hadn’t thought of the advantages of having dual narrators – having a male speaking the male might really make a difference. I’m glad you’re enjoying your foray into audio so well.

I hope you’re having a lovely Wednesday, my friend!! **BIG HUGS**

    • YAY Brandee 😀 if you do end up getting it, I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. I will listen to more books soon, and there’s yet another audiobook review scheduled this week 😉 Just to tease you even more.

I’m having a great Wednesday, thank you. I hope the snow will stop soon in your part of the world! It’s way too late for snow, now. Does winter not know tomorrow is May 1st?
