The Sunday Post #113 – Wrapping it Up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

On Monday and Tuesday, Mr. Lex and I were in Amsterdam, and we had a fantastic time! On Monday morning, we arrived in the city around 9:30, and went straight to our hotel which was smack in the center. Then, Mr. Lex went skating (he’s a speedskater) while I went for a stroll in the shopping district, and to the Banksy exposition. After lunch, Mr. Lex came back and we went exploring together. On Tuesday, I went with him to the skating rink, and it was so nice! Loads of people were out there skating in the morning sun, and it made me long for my own skates. Of course, I found the Waterstone’s Maureen told me about last week, and I left there with four new books – impossible to buy no books, that’s for sure.

I have also advanced nicely on my thesis, I sent 24 new pages to my mentor this week, and while I haven’t heard back from her yet, I am happy with my progress.

  1. What splendid fun to take a short trip to Amsterdam. Glad you had a good time and made progress on the thesis.

Very nice book haul both from Waterstone’s and for review. 🙂 I got Blood Vow, too. Love the cover on the new Gena Showalter.

    Have a good weekend, Lexxie!

  2. Looks like you and Mr Lex had a really great time! I love the portrait of Freddy…it’s the best photo I think you’ve put up so far. So cute! Good luck with the thesis and I hope you get some fun reading done this week.

    • I really enjoyed Firstlife, Gen, so I was excited to get my hands on this second one. I think you’ll need to read them in order, though…
I hope you’ll be able to go for a trip to Amsterdam one day, it was a beautiful city, and the people were so friendly – we had a fantastic time 🙂

  3. I am glad to hear you had a fun time in Amsterdam. I enjoyed seeing your pictures on facebook. The Waterstones there is pretty amazing, one of the largest english books shops we have here. Did you get to try some dutch food as well?

I always like seeing the Freddy pictures and what he’s up to now, he’s such a cutie!

Thanks so much for linking to my post about newsletter subscribers. I really enjoy writing those posts :). I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • Of course I tried some Dutch food 🙂 We had pea soup, it was delicious, with dark bread and meat 🙂
The Waterstone’s was awesome, I loved browsing and spent quite a bit of time there, as well as some money 😉
      Thanks for stopping by, Lola.

  4. Sounds like you had a really great time in Amsterdam! I’ve had a serious case of wanderlust lately. I REALLY want to go somewhere new. It’s been quite a while since my husband and I really got a vacation. I always think of traveling when it starts to get cold around here. lol! I’m a warm sunny beach type of girl. haha

Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great weekend!

    • Yeah, I’ve been struck by wanderlust quite a bit lately, Julie 🙂 It’s so nice to live in the middle of Europe so we have the possibility to go somewhere for a quick couple of days only. I love the warm sunny beaches, too, though 😀

  5. Well, Hello to Mr Lex 🙂 Beautiful pictures, Lexxie, thanks for sharing them with us. I had to smile when I saw what books you got in your haul. We got some of the same books, like Blood Vow. And Lifeblood from Showalter I have pre-ordered and can´ t wait to get it.

  6. Oooh nice haul!! I’m checking my email daily hoping Galley and Netgalley approved me for The Turn! Haven’t gotten the “no” email yet, so I remain hopeful! LOL! I know I’ve reviewed Kim’s books before either on Netgalley or Edelweiss, so I hope they remember that! LOL!

Glad to hear you had a good trip! I long to see this Waterstones! But alas, I don’t know if I will ever get back to overseas. I did renew my passport this year so I’m good for another decade! We shall see! And as always Freddy is just adorable! I love his adventures!! LOL!

    Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • It does, doesn’t it? I loved Firstlife, and I really want to know what will happen next. Shakespeare *sighs* I just love how he was able to write place that are still kind of touching on current affairs today. And his sonnets are beautiful.

  7. You’ve had a very busy amazing week!!!! I love all the Freddie pictures he’s getting so big. I think his feathers (fluffy fur)are adorable. I’ve got a few of your books on my wishlist. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great weekend!!!

  8. Amsterdam sounds great. And a Waterstones- I would love to go to one of those. Always up for a bookstore lol. Sounds like you guys had a nice trip. It’s snowing here and COLD…

Nice pics of Freddy as usual! 🙂

  9. I think it’s so cool your hubs is a speed skater. Oh, what do you feel like to doing to relax? Speed skating! 😀 The weather looked perfect for your trip, too!

I’m entirely jealous you got Lifeblood!! I’ve been waiting on that one!! Eh, I’ll just have to save up the cash 🙂 Great new books!!!

Have a great week and I’m sure your thesis will come back sparkling awesome!!

    • LOL Kristin 😀 When we met, he played hockey, so I guess speed skating was a natural progression for him 😀 I grew up skating a lot, too, but without any kind of competition attached to it.
I was so happy when I got Lifeblood! I hope you’ll get your hands on it soon, too 🙂

    • It was a fun trip, Anna! And I wish I could come and skate with you 🙂 If you have ever rollerskated or skied, you will find the same kinds of sensation when skating 🙂 And if you haven’t done either, I guess watching some youtube videos of skating for beginners will be good 😀

  10. I loved hearing more about your Amsterdam trip and wow that skating place looks professional. Like for the Olympics. Pictures of Freddy are also fun to see! I picked that same book for my Kindle freebie this month, but heaven only knows when I will get to it. Hope it’s good! Glad your thesis is going well too! Enjoy all those wonderful books you got 🙂

    • It is definitely a lot of fun to visit new places, Lillian! I hope your dream of visiting Europe will come true one day! And maybe once for a couple of week will make you want to come back for more and more? I can’t imagine staying in hotels for more than a couple of weeks – I need my own bed and my own pillows 😀

    • It was so nice to get away and just be my husband and I – the perks of having children that are growing up 😀
I hope I’ll be able to have at least a draft finished before the holidays, not sure I’ll make it, but I’m doing my best!
