The Sunday Post #109 – Wrapping it Up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

(un)ConventionalBookViews_Banner-WhatHappenOfftheBlog

This has definitely been a week with many emotions! I think the whole world was holding its breath with the US election, and no matter who people were hoping for, it was definitely emotional! I hope things will work out, and that we will be able to show each other love and respect moving forward ♥

I worked quite a bit this week, plus I continued to advance on my MA thesis. My professor ominously told me in an e-mail she thinks we should meet to discuss the February deadline I would like… Here, we have to sign up for an official exam session for our defence, and the next one is February. The one after that won’t be until June, and I need to have a deadline to work well! This means I’ve been bombarding her with e-mails this week to show her that I am truly making progress 🙂

  1. Nice stack! Rise of Fire. And an Eve Langlais will have you giggling. I picked up one or two for review, but didn’t make any purchases this week since I went a little overboard last week. 🙂

Oh oh, hopefully your advisor has good stuff to say when you meet to plan your thesis work schedule for that February deadline. Glad that you are energized now that you have the deadline.

    Have a good week, Lexxie!

    • Yeah, I am not sure how I managed to add quite so many books to my shelves, but they all do look good, don’t they?
I think I’m going to have to start my meeting on Monday with persuading my advisor that I will be ready in February… which means I have to show her a VERY tight and precise plan of what it is I want to do exactly. Fun project for the weekend 🙂

  2. It’s been fun times in the USA, let me tell you lol. Good luck with your MA deadline… I’m Not Your Manic Pixie Dream Girl looks fun, I’ve read a couple of her books and liked em. And Rise of Fire and Hunted both look awesome. 🙂

  3. Trump’s victory was like Brexit with some people on the losing side declaring that everyone on the winning side are psycho racists and that makes me mad! I voted Brexit but I don’t hate Europeans or object to them coming to legally work in the UK if they are law abiding and hard working. I object to the number flooding in which is stretching local resources to the limit, criminals and those expecting handouts. I voted Brexit to take control of our country back in all areas and I bristle at being called racist. A lot of Trump voters are experiencing the same reaction when many voted for change after feeling ignored or let down by previous administrations. Of course there were racists in both winning camps but it’s not right to judge everyone. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

But back to awwing over the cuteness that is Freddy! Good luck with the thesis meetings…I hope everything works out the way you want it. *fingers crossed*

  4. OOOoh nice new reads!!! I SOOOOOOOOOO can’t wait for 100 Hours! I loooooooove Rachel’s books! Sadly was turned down for that one, as well as Hunted, but lately I am not at all stressed out with being turned down for ARCs because it’s allowing me to get caught up on the massive TBR pile that’s been accumulating since 2010! LOL! I can’t wait to read Rise of Fire right after Reign of Shadows. I decided once I heard it ended with a cliffhanger that I would binge the duology! None of that pesky waiting a year to finish things! LOL!

Hope you enjoy all the new reads! And as always, good luck on the thesis!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I love Rachel’s books, too, Jessica! I’m really looking forward to it. Sorry you didn’t get some you really wanted. I think us bookworms really need to feel like our TBR will never come to an end.
I’ve waited to read Reign of Shadows for the same reason 🙂 Soon I’ll be able to just jump in and read both in one go 🙂

  5. Great haul! I haven’t even looked at Edelweiss for a long time but these sound great. I have to agree that the elections were very emotional. I hope you are able to get everything worked out with your thesis. It sounds very stressful. Freddy is as cute as ever 🙂 Have a great week!

  6. I’m with you Lexxie – I need a deadline to work to. If I don’t have one I’m all over the place.

It sounds like your MA is going well though.

And yes… I think the world held its collective breath as the US election results came out. Obviously I’d seen a lot of coverage in its lead-up but that day was something else (particularly as it took place during the day for us, rather than overnight) so we got to see it unfold!

  7. Ooh. Jill Mansell. I haven’t read one of hers in a long while.
As far as the elections go, I really wanted it to be over so we could all focus on the things that we do agree on again, but unfortunately it has gotten worse. May that mess be short lived.

  8. Good luck with your meeting with your advisor – I hope it goes well. Like most other folks, I’m reeling at what has gone down in the US and just hope it isn’t going to be as dire as I fear – given here in the UK we’re still waiting for the mess created by Brexit to fully slap us in the face… I’m looking forward to seeing what you make of Hunted – what a lovely lot of books you received this week. Take care and hope you have a good week.

  9. Looks like this was the week of Harper approving requests. I’m excited for all the books that you’ve gotten. Yeah, this election was very emotional and I fear for the future of this country, especially the people who aren’t white. I’m still very angry about it and honestly, I don’t think this is an anger that will go away. It’s been a slap of reality for me and many others.
    Good luck with everything, Lexxie.

    • Yeah, Harper has kept me in suspense for a while, and last week, BAM! They were all approved.
I’m afraid more than angry. It’s really sad, too, that someone who has said so many awful things about other people can be voted in as president. *sighs*
      Thanks for stopping by, Nick!

  10. Hopefully your advisor will let you keep the February exam! I am like you-without a deadline, I am totally unproductive! I really want to read Trust by Jana Aston. It looks so good!!
    Have a great week!

  11. Three Amazing things about you is so popular in my country (Croatia), everyone seem to love it. I still haven’t read it though. And Jill Mansel is one of the most popular international authors here.
    I hope you’ll enjoy reading it! 🙂
And ohh, you’re so lucky to be able to read By Your Side. Kasie West is my favorite ya contemporary author. Unfortunately, I was declined when I requested that book via Edelweiss (I guess I don’t know how to sell myself to HarperCollins no matter how hard I try), but no hard feelings. I always tell myself that everybook that’s there will be released eventually, and I can buy it if not now, then later in the future.
Freddy is cutie as always. <3

    • It does sound really good, Irena. And I haven’t read Jill Mansel before, either 🙂
Kasie West is one of my favorites, too, she always punches me right in the feels with her stories.
HarperCollins has only just started to accept my requests, so keep hoping.

  12. OOOO, I’m going to have to find that book “Literally”. Just from the cover and words, it sounds like my kind of book, story, or whatever it is 😉 Awesome books this week!!!! And I’m sending sunshine your way but with the distance and all the around the Earth thing, it may not get there until Wednesday so hang on, okay??? 😀

  13. I appreciate what you said about respect and moving forward, it is something we all can do better. I am very interested in The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland. Best of luck with your thesis.

  14. Gah! 100 Hours!! I actually didn’t even know she had a new book coming. Eep! I’ll have to stalk her. 😉 I requested Lucifer’s Daughter as well but haven’t received it yet. And The Debt? Where does that fall in the series? We’ll have to get to buddy-listening soon!
Thanks for the shout-out as well as the pic of Freddy. He’s sooo cute!!
*BIG HUGS* and lots of love, wifey!!

    • The Debt is later in the series, I think, Brandee… Now, when I see a Karina book, I just request it. And maybe I’m lucky to be international, because instead of sending me a physical CD, I get a personal link to where I can download directly 🙂

  15. Oh yes, definitely a crazy election. But like you said, we all just need to continue supporting and showing kindness toward each other, that’s the best thing that can be done for the US now 🙂 Good luck with your deadline and enjoy your books!

  16. I’m playing catch up on blog posts. I hope you’re going to be able to get that February deadline you want. I know exactly how you feel. I do much better when I have a deadline breathing down my neck. Good luck. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on Lucifer’s Daughter. That was my first Eve Langlais book. I’m also really interested in the “book about a book about falling in love”.

    • I did get the February deadline… and of course, just after that meeting, I’ve been called on to do a lot of substitute work 😀 So hopefully, I’ll be able to keep up with everything.
I love Eve Langlais, and I’ve actually read Lucifer’s Daughter already, but I look forward to listening to it. Langlais manages to mix humor and hotness in a very original way, don’t you think?

  17. 100 Hours, I’m Not Your Manic Pixie Girl and also Literally are books we have in common! I have to admit though, the latter one is the one I am most excited to read. It sounds so promising! I am also glad the progress has been made and you’ve been busy proving it and working towards it. Everything sounds good! Well, the elections certainly did stir up a lot of feelings. I guess all that is left to do is wait and see how things turn out…
