Five Year Blogoversary

Five Year Blogoversary

It’s a bit hard to belive, but I’ve been blogging here at (un)Conventional Bookviews for five years now. I started on Blogger on June 2nd, 2012. Five Year Blogoversary So, to celebrate, and to thank those of you who have continued to visit me during this very, very busy semester where I haven’t been a good blogger friend at all, I want to share a giveaway with you all. But first, let’s take a quick look at what’s been going on here for these past years. I only stayed on blogger for a few months, then I switched to a self-host wordpress blog, as I saw all the amazing plugins other bloggers were using. I still love self-hosting, both for […]

Blogtour Review: Beauty Inc. – Tara Lain

Blogtour Review: Beauty Inc. – Tara Lain

I absolutely loved Beauty, Inc. – it’s one of the best Beauty and the Beast re-tellings I’ve ever read, and I was immediately swept off my feet by both Belle and Magnus. Tara Lain’s Pennymaker Tales series is truly amazing! I loved spending some time with Belle and Magnus, and Beauty, Inc. was a tale that got me thinking about the fact that we often need to look deeper than what we see at first sight. There is strong friendships and loyalty in this story, and there is family who doesn’t act like family, but friends who do act like family. There are some strong, very smart characters, and some important messages about what is important in life. A great […]

Blogtour Review : Golden Dancer – Tara Lain

Blogtour Review : Golden Dancer – Tara Lain

Golden Dancer has some very strong characters that move the story forward in different ways, and I loved that there is a ballet dancer involved! Between Mac, the investigative reporter, Trelain, the Russian ballet dancer, and Daniel, the philanthropic billionaire who may or may not be a thief, Golden Dancer was filled with mystery, attraction and quite a bit of tension. And because both Daniel and Mac were interested in Trelain, the story moved forward in a way where it was impossible to see where things would go. Especially because Mac was sure that Daniel had stolen a dancer statue by using the help of a hacker. The mystery and the evident attraction between the three men were tangible, and […]

2016 New Release Challenge 1Q Wrap-Up

The month of March is almost over, and it’s time to share some of those new release reviews, and have a chance to win some GCs in the 1Q New Release Challenge giveaway. It would be nice to see how you’re doing, and if you’re on track and happy with the New Releases you have read so far. So far in 2016, I have read 26 new releases, which is pretty much on track for me as I have challenged myself to read 100 new releases this year. Most of those books have been very enjoyable, which definitely encourages me to continue, and motivates me to pick up more new releases as well.  One of my favorite new releases was […]

Blogtour Review: Tackling the Tight End – Tara Lain

Blogtour Review: Tackling the Tight End – Tara Lain

Welcome to my stop on the Tackling the Tight End blogtour. I have my review and favorite quotes as usual, and there are other goodies here for me to share with you as well! This Blogtour is hosted by Enchantress Design and Promo. Tackling the Tight End is the third instalment in Lain’s Long Pass Chronicles series, and it features the ‘bad guy’ from the first book as one of the main characters. The story is filled with conflict, both external and internal, and it was sweet in some moments, and pretty dark in others. At the beginning of Tackling the Tight End, I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story being about Dennis, he was such […]

Review and Giveaway : Anything For You – Kristan Higgins

Review and Giveaway : Anything For You – Kristan Higgins

Nostalgic, achingly tender and sweet – Anything for You showed the extremely slow development of Jess and Connor’s relationship. All the characters we already know and love in Blue Heron were present as well. I have to admit I felt really bad for Connor with the beginning of Anything For You! He had prepared a very romantic evening for his on-again off-again girlfriend Jess, complete with a diamond ring to ask her to marry him – only to have her think he was adorable, but of course, the answer was no. As the story moved forward, though, with flash-backs to their childhoods, teenage years and early adult-hood, it became very clear that Jess was right. Of course the answer was […]
