Clean Out Your E-Reader Challenge – Day 1

Welcome to my start-up post in Berls’ and Michelle’s Clean out your E-reader Challenge that runs for the whole month of November. Since today is day one, we are sharing the books we are planning to read during the challenge, and I am doing the deep-cleaning – I have so many ARCs and free or cheap books on my kindle it’s not even funny! Remember to visit Fantasy Is More Fun and Because Reading is better than real life so you can both sign up in the linky and participate in the giveaway.

I plan on reading mostly eARCs for the challenge, because I had clicked to request so many on Netgalley lately, and to my big surprise I was accepted for most of them! This is not usual for me, so I have been slower than I would like to give feed-back to the publishers. Here’s my list of books I’d like to complete for the challenge, the link will take you to the book’s Booklikes page so that you can easily add it to your own shelf if you’d like to:

A Missing Peace - (un)Conventional BookviewsA Missing Peace by Beth Fred. It is pitched as a turbulent, emotionally charged YA that breaks down barriers and challenges the status quo.

Introductions - (un)Conventional BookviewsIntroductions (The Academy #1) by C. L. Stone. This one is supposed to be a YA contemporary romance with some paranormal / fantasy elements included.

Starry Night - (un)Conventional BookviewsStarry Night is an adult holiday romance, and I really look forward to this one. I love holiday romances, and Debbie Macomber is a new-to-me author.

Dirty Minds - (un)Conventional BookviewsDirty Minds by TA Williams is the story about Tom, an aspiring author, newly divorced, who thinks that writing erotica might just be the answer to all his problems.

Gone Wild - (un)Conventional BookviewsGone Wild is a NA contemporary romance about Ina and how her life went to hell publicly, and her way to deal with it was to retreat to the mountains, in a secluded cottage. Written by Ever McCormick.

The Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire(The Cowboys of Chance Creek #3) by Cora Seton. I have already read the first and the third book in the series, and they were well done, humorous and romantic, with a setting in the wild west 🙂

The Silver Chain - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Silver Chain by Primula Bond is an erotic romance and I have no idea what I will think of this. It might just be a little outside my comfort zone, but we’ll see, right?

Sleep With the Lights On - (un)Conventional BookviewsSleep with the Lights On by Maggie Shayne is a contemporary thriller, and the blurb made me want to read this one! A blind woman writing self-help books get cornea from a deceased man, and now she can finally see. She doesn’t only see the real world, however, she gets visions from horrible murders as well…

Love Game - (un)Conventional BookviewsLove Game by Elis Sax appealed to me as soon as I read the blurb, I can never resist a romance that is filled with humor as well as with hotness!

Baiting the Boss - (un)Conventional BookviewsBaiting the Boss by Coleen Kwan is another contemporary romance, and I am really in the mood for that these days!

Playing Dirty - (un)Conventional BookviewsI received my eARC of Playing Dirty by Jennifer Echols  from Edelweiss in September, and I have no idea why I haven’t started reading this yet…

I look forward to seeing what books everybody chooses today! And I promise I won’t click anywhere to get more books before I have finished these!

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a great day, and good luck with your Clean Out Your E-Reader challenge.

  1. Hey Lexxie! You have an excellent list here. I’m really curious about A Missing Peace, Starry Night (I’ve never read Macomber)…well, now that I look at the list, there’s not really one I’m not interested in. Good thing I’ve stayed away from NetGalley, huh?!? *grins* By the way, how are we going to hold you to your promise of not requesting any other books before you get these read? I’m not sure that’s a promise I could keep. 😉

So I’m back from the band competition. I got sick on Tuesday – the day we got back. 🙁 I’m finally feeling better but it’s going to take me a few days to catch up. 🙂 The competition was fantastic!! Our band competed against 2 bands that had moved down a class this year…we placed 5th in state and the kids performed so well!! We are so proud of our girls and they are proud of themselves…it was a great experience! (except for picking up a virus)

Enjoy the rest of your day, Lexxie. I’ll eventually work my way through your posts and comment – I still have to reply about the books you guessed I would read next… 😉

  2. YAY for such a good place in the state competition and too bad you got sick! I hope you feel all better now, Brandee <3

I'm not sure there is a way to enforce the no-netgalley-clicking until I complete my challenge 😀 because I could just choose to not tell anyone I slipped up 😀 But I really need to be better with this – because the publishers really deserve to get their reviews, too, you know?

My day is almost over – it just got dark, and I still have some homework to finish for tomorrow, but I don't feel like working anymore. Good thing I have a break between classes tomorrow so I can finish it then.

I'm wondering if I guessed right about your next reads 🙂 Enjoy your afternoon! *hugs*

  3. Sounds like a bunch of great books, can’t wait for the reviews. I love Debbie Macomber so I hope you like her too! My list is way smaller than yours but I am a slow reader. 🙁 I don’t even know if I can stick with my list..I always say I am going to read something but then I change my mind and I have a lot of books I could choose from..lol. There is no way I could make a promise not to check out netgalley while doing this competition..lol I kept telling myself I wouldn’t check out NG for a whole week and couldn’t do it..lol. 🙂

    • Stormi, I’m just the same way! As soon as I decide on a list of books to read, I wanna read something completely different instead…

Heh, I’m not so sure I can keep away from NG myself, especially because they have started sending me e-mails with Harlequin books I have the right to check right out without even requesting them!

Good luck on your challenge 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by Lacie 🙂 I will link to my review as soon as it’s up 🙂 I haven’t started reading it yet, though.

    • LOL, Michelle, I am a little afraid of that myself. Seeing all the cheap books on other bloggers’ posts is not really good for my one-click-itis!

      Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I love your list of books. I feel a contemporary romance mood coming on. I have Sterling on my list. Can’t wait to read it. I haven’t read anything by Debbie Macomber but I just went to a book talk and she was so wonderful I just have to start reading her books. Good luck and happy reading Lexxie!

    • Yes, definitely contemporary romance on my list, Robyn 🙂 I haven’t read anything by DM yet either, but I look forward to starting 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Robyn.

    • I know, right? Hopefully, I’ll be able to stay away, but I know it will be hard to resist if there is a book by one of my favorite authors.

      Thanks for stopping by Chene.

    • Yes, it does look really interesting, doesn’t it?

I’m not pre-approved for all Harlequin books, but every now and then, they send me an e-mail via netgalley, where I can just download the books they mentioned in that e-mail. And it’s impossible to not click through and download!

Thanks for stopping by, Amir 🙂

  5. I am so impressed by your list. I’m far too scattered and I’ve been amassing free and really cheap ebooks for years to make a list like I should. I am very excited to see what people read and what everyone thinks about it.

I can’t wait to see what you think about the Echolls and the Macomber. I’ve never read either author and have heard much about both. Good luck on the challenge!!!

    • I hope I’ll like them, too. I’m also really hoping I can stick to my list 🙂 I’m not usually very good with lists…

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • I look forward to Starry Night, and it’s good that it’s a quick, easy read. I am hoping to add to my list so the deep clean can be really, really deep 😀

      Thanks for stopping by Lark.

  6. I’m glad I’m not the only one who got herself into trouble requesting too many books with the expectation that I wouldn’t get approved for that many! I’m itching to request a few of those now, but I’m resisting. I just have too many already! I did read Gone Wild though and liked it ok. Not mind blowing, but enjoyable. Can’t wait for your reviews!

    • I know what you mean, Berls. I’m itching to request more books as well, but I am really trying my best to stay away from Netgalley. I’m failing miserably at that though 😀

      Happy reading!

    • I know, aren’t Berls and Michelle clever? I really needed to read some more of my eARCs, so this was just the perfect opportunity for me.
