My Favorite 2016 Reads
2016 has definitely been a good year when it comes to the books I’ve read! And since we’re in the very last week of the year, I thought I’d share my favorite 2016 reads with you – in case you haven’t been able to pick them up yet, you know?
Fighting Dirty by Lori Foster, finally, fans of the Ultimate series got Armie’s story, and I was swooning from start to finish!
Touch & Go is the second book in the Dare to Love series by Mira Lyn Kelly, and it worked so well for me!
Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis is the third Cedar Ridge book, and I have to reiterate that Shalvis outdid herself with this story!
It Ends With Us is everything! Colleen Hoover always makes me feel all the feels, and this one was so good that a couple of weeks after I read it, I listened to the audio.
He Will Be My Ruin is Tucker’s first suspense / psychological thriller, and I was definitely thrilled 😉
Before We Were Strangers – it’s the perfect 2nd chance at love story, and Renee Carlino almost killed me – my poor heart! <3
Gayle Forman got me from the start of Leave Me, realistic fiction on its best, in my opinion, and it left me feeling raw!
J.A. Huss blew my mind with Rock! A rollercoaster of mystery and suspense where it was impossible to see what would come next!
In Her Eyes by Wesley Banks kind of caught me by surprise, I got some light romance, but I got some pretty heavy subjects as well.
Only Kim Harrison can completely marry a futuristic world with time travel and some kind of magic and make me feel like it could be real…
Have you made a list of your favorite reads for this year? If not, let me know some of the books you loved so much you think you need to read them again – or that made such an impact on you that you still catch yourself thinking of the characters or their story now – months later.

Love seeing your favorites list for the year. I didn’t put it on my list, but I loved KA Tucker’s thriller, too.
We do have to make the cut somewhere, right? I could have added other book to my list, too – I really got my hands on some amazing books this year, Sophia.
So many here that I loved!!! Before We Were Strangers was my #1 last year. Loved It Ends With Us, He Will Be My Ruin and Leave me. Greta list!!
Thanks, Grace 🙂 2016 was a very good reading year 🙂
I always find it fun to look back at my book year…I’ll be posting mine in a few days! Hopefully 2017 will be a great reading year!
I look forward to seeing which books were your faves this year, Chuckles 🙂
I’m glad 2016 was such an awesome reading year for you! That book must be good for you to listen to it just weeks after reading it. And those books that you keep thinking about months later are the best!
IEWU blew me away, Kristen! And it was awesome in audio as well as when I read it myself. Those books that stay in my mind a long time after having read them are the best, they truly made an impact on me.
I had a hard time narrowing down my books for a best of 2016 post, there were so many good reads this year. I enjoyed Nobody But You, but I think I enjoyed the first two Heartbreaker Bay books even more. I haven’t read He Will be My Ruin, but I think I might pick it up eventually. I also read a thriller this year and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, then again it was a book by Kelley Armstrong. I hope 2017 will be a good reading year as well!
I could have gone on and on, too, Lola 🙂 And I think you’d enjoy He Will Be My Ruin, actually. It’s different from Tucker’s other stories, but solid and well done!
I think Renee Carlino likes almost killing her readers. LOL I also have a book of hers on my top of 2016. 🙂
LOL, I am pretty sure she does enjoy that, Stephanie! She always manages to do so with me 😉

This year has been a good year for books, I don’t think I had very many that I didn’t like. 🙂
Yes, 2016 was good for something at least, Stormi 😉
I haven’t read a lot of these authors, but there are some I want to.
I’m glad to see you enjoyed the Colleen Hoover book, as it’s on my to be read pile. I am so hesitant to pick anything up by her, because I am just not sure I can handle the emotional roller coaster. The only book I’ve read by her was Hopeless, and it nearly did me in.
I’m glad you had so many enjoyable reads this year! 🙂
I hope you’ll enjoy CoHo’s newest, too, Angie! I’ll look for your review soonish 🙂

So many of these are on my TBR list. I’m really glad you found so many great reads in 2016. I hope you find just as many in 2017.
Thanks, Melanie, I hope so too!!
oh you have a really great list here!! I also liked Fighting Dirty, Lori Foster did such a great job with that one.
I was already in love with Armie, but wow – his story was really something!
I always love Lori Foster (and I loved Fighting Dirty!), can’t wait for her new series! Oh I only started reading Jill Shalvis, so I need to check her backlist still! Great list, Lexxie!
Here’s my top ten list!
I love Shalvis, Cyn! I hope you’ll enjoy those of her books you manage to pick up, too 🙂
I’m slightly disappointed (in myself) because I haven’t read any of these and have barely heard of any of them! I am definitely going to check out the Jill Shalvis one, because I have not read any of her books and basically all of my bloggy friends who have read her books have loved those and are obsessed. 😀 Wonderful list, Lexxie!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Oh don’t be disappointed in yourself, Alyssa!! We don’t have exactly the same taste when it comes to our faves is all 🙂 Shalvis is an amazing contemporary romance author, I love almost all of her characters!
I really loved Leave Me too. I need to read Before We Were Strangers and He Will Be My Ruin (though I have a copy of that one!)
-Lauren
I hope you’ll enjoy both of them, Lauren!
I have a few of these on my shelf and I read ONE of them. Interesting that I’ve read only one of your favs from this year. Hmm…. Anyway, Hoover, Tucker, Carlino, Harrison, and Shalvis would all make my favorite authors list. 😀 Glad you got so many great reads in during 2016, Lex. Here’s to an awesome year of reading in 2017!!
*smooches* {{HUGS}} <3 LOVE <3
LOL Brandee! I think we’re both striving to keep up with each other’s favorites! We know we have the same tastes, so we can always point each other in the right direction 😀 {{{BIG HUGS}}} lots of love and *smooches*
I really enjoyed the Shalvis read as well 😀 She has so many great stories!
Whoops. I forgot to add It Ends With Us to mine. But He Will Be My Ruin made mine too. Nice list, Lexxie!
Great list! Love Before We Were Strangers and really want to read Leave Me!

Love love love, He Will Be My Ruin! I purchased It Ends With Us back in October, so I will probably grab it from my shelf soon.
