Feature and Follow #56 – Something New About Blogging
YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; or you can like my facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.
Share something you’ve learned about book blogging or just blogging in general in the last month.
I have learned that even if I make sure I have an internet connection when I go abroad on vacation, it’s better to have as many posts as possible scheduled in advance, in case that internet connection can disappear and appear as if by magic. I just got home from Spain this night (it’s 2am as I’m writing this post) and my internet connection there was pretty crappy. It sometimes took as long as ten minutes to load a page, and I lost almost all the comments I tried to make. So yeah, to make sure my blog has new posts while I’m playing in the sea and the sand, I’ll have posts scheduled even better next time.
Thanks for stopping by today 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Definitely good advice, Lexxie. Having just experienced that lack of connectivity while on vacation myself, I agree that having things prepared in advance is a great idea. I did know I’d have issues while away, since I’d been there previously. But even in places where we were supposed to have connection, I was frustrated by it’s unreliability.
I’m so glad you’re back!! 🙂 Happy Friday and I’m looking forward to catching up. *hugs*
Hey Brandee! I’m actually happy to be back as well, it has been so nice to sleep in my own bed, for instance 🙂 But it’s a lot cooler here than it was in Spain.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂 *hugs* right back at you!

Traveling and internet can be a really tricky situation and nothing makes you realize how much you depend on internet like not having it! Hope you enjoyed your time in Spain though!!
Old follower 🙂
Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun
You’re right, Berls, what did we do before the internet, cell-phones and kindles? I had a wonderful time in Spain, it was truly family time, even if we met up with two different friends while we were there.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Hello, Lexxie! Totally agree with your post. Scheduling posts ahead of time makes everything easier. I am even planning to post 10-20 posts ahead so I can at least have some rest. <3
Thanks for stopping by my FF.
Following you on bloglovin!
Oh, yes, the more posts you have scheduled, the more you’ll feel like reading and writing up your reviews, though, because you really won’t have any preassure!
Thanks for stopping by Charlotte 🙂
Ah, very good advice! Then again, I’d be worried if my posts didn’t post as schedule. Even then having access to the internet, etc one has to make sure it’s secure otherwise hackers can attempt to steal your login info.
You know, sometimes it is just nice to lay low and be off the grid for a bit. Hope the weather was wonderful in Spain!
It has only happened once that a post didn’t post as scheduled, so I’m not too worried about that. But you’re right about making sure the blog is secure from hackers – I have some hours only when it’s possible to log in to my admin part of my blog, so that if anyone tries to log on outside of those hours, it’s not possible.
The weather and everything else was perfect in Spain 🙂 thanks!
Oooh…. very true!! I scheduled heaps of posts at christmas, so I didn’t have to worry about it!!
Here’s My FF!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
That’s a very good idea, too, Naomi. I think it’s important to be able to take some time off and not worry about the blog becoming a waste-land while we’re playing at other things instead 🙂
Yep! scheduling is a wonderful thing. Good answer.
Happy Friday 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Shane!

Thanks for stopping by Cagla 🙂 it’s nice to ‘meet’ you!
I’m trying to get better about having posts up in advance anyway. It just makes me breathe easier knowing I don’t have to think about it or scramble the night before (or that morning) to stay on schedule. (Of course I guess another important thing about blogging is not to go too hard on you if life does get in the way and you do fall behind what you had planned.)
*hard on YOURSELF
Oh, I definitely agree both with the easier breathing, and with not being too hard on ourselves. It is a hobby, after all.
Thanks for stopping by Charleen!
Great tip! I generally do all my posts in advance as well. Over the weekend, I try to write all posts for the coming week. Doesn’t always work, but I stick to it as much as possible. In my case, it’s less because of traveling and more because I don’t want to spend two hours a day doing posts. Better to do them all over the weekend and leave the week open for other activities. 😀 I would most definitely do it whenever I went on vaca though. 😀
My FF
True, it’s nice to not have to stress the day before posting something, and I love taking the time to write out several posts in one go.
thanks for stopping by Liesel 🙂
Good advice! I hope to travel abroad soon, so I’ll be sure to do that whenever I get the opportunity to go to France (I am obsessed).
New BlogLovin’ follower. Thanks for stopping by!!
France is a beautiful country! I hope you’ll get the opportunity to go there soon 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Amber 🙂
Yes, you are so right! Schedule posts are perfect. I am in France for a month and I hadn’t so much time to write posts, or read all the blogs I used to read. I guess schedule posts are very helpful. 🙂
Oh, Spain!! I hope you had an amazing time. 🙂
Here is my FF http://between-my-lines.blogspot.fr/2013/08/feature-and-follow-21-blogging-knowledge.html
Have a great week.
Yes, Spain 🙂 it was awesome, and in a way pretty nice that I couldn’t stay much in front of my computer!
Thanks for stopping by Athina 🙂
Definitely great advice Lexxie. If I’m going to be traveling I always TRY to have my posts completed and scheduled before I leave. But that doesn’t always happen and then I’m a nervous wreck about if I’ll be able to connect and will it go out on time. Eek!
Glad you’re back and hope you had a fantastic time!
Yeah, try is the operative word, here, Traci! I’m glad I had almost all of my posts scheduled, since it was almost impossible to get anything done while I was away.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I hope you had a great time in Spain!
I am terrible about scheduling future posts and just fly by the seat of my pants. It would take some pressure off, I’m sure but I never seem to get around to it.
I think you fly by the seat of your pants just fine! And as long as that works for you, why change it, right?
I did have a great time in Spain 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Hey Lexxie! You’re so right about scheduling posts to appear when you’re on vacation, it also means you don’t have to stress about posting when you’re on holidays too! I hope you had an awesome time in Spain. Good to see you back.
I’m a new follower via Bloglovin and Twitter!
Here’s my F&F Friday!
Jeann @ Happy Indulgence
Thanks for stopping by to comment and follow Jeann 🙂 I look forward to getting to know you better!
That’s a really good point. I usual have most of my posts ready in advance. But that really stinks that you lost comments and stuff. I hope you had fun in Spain! 🙂 Old follower happy Friday!
My Feature & FollowWhit@Whit’s Book World
Whit, my problem was with commenting on other people’s blogs, I’m usually pretty good at visiting back, and there are quite a few bloggers I chat with almost every day, I missed them 🙂
But I do have more or less a whole week scheduled in advance, and I wish I could make that grow to two or three.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I love this 😀 It’s such a good little tidbit about blogging. It’s always a good idea to have stuff scheduled as much in advance as possible especially while planning a vacation! I hope you had fun though 😀 Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
I had a lot of fun, and it was so nice to just spend time together with my husband and the children. We slept in late, spent some of our days at the beach, and ate so much excellent food 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Jaclyn. Have a wonderful weekend!
I learned that while on my vacation too. I scheduled a few, but when I tried to go to the library to work on it…it just didn’t work out. Old follower.
Happy Friday!
Yeah, we were supposed to have wifi in the apartment we rented, but that just wasn’t true 🙁 Oh well. At least we had a really good vacation, and I spent all my time with the hubby and the kids 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Jennifer 🙂

Lexxie firstly I’m so ENVIOUS that you were in Spain! Damn the internet connection I’d be spending time in the sun and the markets LOL just kidding I’m kinda addicted to the internet so I probably would have needed the internet, you must have had a lot of patient to wait 10 mins for it to load a page LOL
How many posts do you reckon you try and schedule?
My Friday Hop
LOL Angelica 🙂 Spain was totally awesome, the sun, the food, the history and the culture 🙂 We only did one market, they aren’t the way they used to be before – not as much variety.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I totally agree! I couldn’t blog if there wasn’t a choice to schedule posts.
