In Infamous, Nick needs to learn more about his powers, he has to understand how they work and be able to control them. At the same time, he needs to work, and keep his good grades. Nick's life is not that of  a normal teenager, and while he tries to understand that the world is a different place than he first thought, he has a lot of trouble seeing who he should trust and who he should stay very far away from.

Infamous was not as satisfying as I had hoped it would be when I started reading. It really felt like a filler book. There was not a lot of progress being made, Nick was younger than in the other instalments, and he was learning little by little what his powers were, or would become.

Also, neither Nick or the readers know who he can trust, except for the obvious people, being his mom, Acheron and Kyrian. At the same time, knowing that Nick from the future is coming to give advice to young Nick in the book it is difficult to know exactly how the relationship between Ash and Nick will develop.

I usually love it when someone is able to travel through time, however, the fact that a Nick from the future could talk to the Nick in current time in this story doesn’t make sense. (As if time travel normally makes sense to me *grin*)

What happened in Infamous could have been in an in-between book or novella. Or it could be half of a book, with more happening after. I feel like something is missing, and that is always disappointing when reading a new book in a series I love. Nick is very confused, and sometimes that confusion passed to me as well, I think that can happen when there is tampering with time, and in Infamous, it was impossible to say how many times Nick had lived through his high-school years. I have to admit I also prefer time travel stories where it is not possible for one person to be twice in the same timeline – it helps to keep things straight.

I will still keep this on my fave series shelf, because I have faith that the next book will be more fleshed out, and that Nick will continue to grow into his powers holding on to love and what is good.
