It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.
Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, or you can do so below, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?
Last week, I read the following books :
A Night to Surrender, by Tessa Dare is a delightful historical romance, the first book in the Spindle Cover series, and I loved it – it was fun, hot and I love that the female main character was strong, intelligent and didn’t act like a damsel in distress.
A New Adult novel, Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry simply blew me away! I already reviewed it if you’re interested, you can find it here.
Dare You To is book number two in Pushing the Limits series, and I got an ARC for this one – which is one of the reasons why I decided to read the first book before I attacked this one. It is just as incredible as Pushing the limits, but it really is New Adult rather than YA in my opinion, as there is a lot of mature themes.
If You could be mine by Sara Farizan is a tender story about two girls who are in love – but in Iran, being homosexual is punishable by death, and the way the society they live in works is that parents choose their daughters’ spouse.
Lucifer’s Daugther is the first book in Eve Langlais’ Princess From Hell series. This is a short erotic romance, with demons and half-demons, and it’s both spicy and humorous.
Temporary Arrangement by Karen Erickson is the prequel to her new The Renaldi’s series. It is short and sweet, hot and fun. And it really made me want to read this series – the first novel will be released in early July.
So those are the books I read last week, some of them are quite short, which was nice, as I just finished my exams, and was very happy to be able to only read for pleasure. I can also see now that there was a very heavy romance theme in my reading last week 🙂
Right now, I’m reading two books
Head over Heels by Cindy Procter-King which is so far very funny, it’s a contemporary romance, with a quite unlikely starting point for the protagonists.
Take Me Back is book 2.5 in Kelli Maine’s Give & Take series. It is a little different, both because it’s written in 1st person present tense POV, and because the main character even thinks of one of the other characters in terms of ‘you’ which makes me feel like she’s thinking of me…
I also plan on reading some other books this week,
Oath Bound by Rachel Vincent has already been on my list before, but this time, I think I’ll really get to read it!
I really look forward to reading Heart Of Obsidian by Nalini Singh. This is book 11 in her Psy-Changeling series, and it was just released last week.
What are you reading this week? Please don’t add too many goodies, or I’ll forever be adding books to my TBR 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, have a great week.
I haven’t read any Rachel Vincent yet, but my sister has a shelf of her books. I’m finishing up Chosen at Nightfall by CC Hunter and then I get to read Fall of Night. I can’t wait! I’m reading Switching (because of your review!) next week. Happy reading, Lexxie!
p.s. holy cow with all those books in one week!
Hey Robyn:) Are you actually reading Switching right now? What do you think about it so far? Is CC Hunter a pen name for Shiloh Walker or am I mixing up?
Fall of night is epic! I hope you’ll love it, too. And yes, there are a lot of books on that list for last week, but some of them are only 70 pages, so it’s not as if I read that many novels with 350-450 pages in them 😉
Thanks for stopping by, Robyn, have a fantastic week 🙂
I should have written her name C.C. Hunter, but she wrote the Shadow Falls series. It’s a YA, everything supernaturals series. I start Switching in a week because I’m taking a trip and my e-reader is coming with. You have a great week too!
I haven’t read this series, but I will check it out! I love how we keep pushing books at each other!
I hope you’ll have a nice trip – enjoy.
I’m really interested in If You Could Be Mine – not something I have seen in fiction before!
Oathbound rocks – I hope you enjoy it!
Read on!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
If You Could Be Mine was a good story, I will write my review later this week.
Thanks for stopping by Shelleyrae 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog this am. What a great weeks reading you’ve gotten done. I’ve not heard of many of those books, so thanks for introducing me to them.
Thanks for stopping by Ruth 🙂 I thought the same thing when I visited your blog :)YAY – more books!
Happy reading.
Your books all look so tempting…I’m curious about Dare You To and Pushing the Limits.
Enjoy your week! And thanks for visiting my blog.
Thanks Laurel-Rain! I hope you’ll like Pushing the Limits and Dare You To if you decide to read them.
Happy reading.
You had a great reading week Lexxie!
I did, but several of those books are very short. Thanks for stopping by, Sheila 🙂
I have become a huge Katie McGarry fan and can’t wait for Isaiah’s story. I like the looks of the historical fiction you read too. Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy reading!
I know, Isaiah’s story should be great as well. I love it when I discover new-to-me authors and fall in love with their writing 🙂
Have a wonderful week, thanks for stopping by Kathy 🙂
Wow, you had a great week of reading. Mine was rather pathetic again. I read Lucifer’s Daughter sometime last year and thought it was fabulous. I keep meaning to pick up more of her work.
I have read quite a few books by Eve Langlais, and I totally love her sense of humor… the way she writes her smexy scenes are pretty awesome as well 😉
Thanks for stopping by, Laurie!
Wow you did some great reading. I can never manage to finish so many books in a week. Have a great week!
Yeah, well, I should probably also admit that since Tuesday evening, I’m on vacation – classes and exams are over, so now I can read only for fun!
Thanks for stopping by Ciska!
How in the world did you get all those read in one week? Seriously, I need to know. I have a stack of books for review and am pressed for time to read. How do you do it? Speed reading? Nice blog, by the way.
Several of these books are very short, and Uni is over for now, and my kids are still in school 🙂 Everything worked in my favor!
Thanks for the nice comment, Sue 🙂
WOW, you read a lot of books in a week’s time. I read three last week and was beside myself with joy. lol Envious, but in the best way. Enjoy your next reads!
If you pick up Lucifer’s Daughter and Temporary arrangement, you’ll probably finish both of those in one day – one is 120 pages, the other is 70…
Thanks for stopping by Andi! Happy reading.
I’ll keep that in mind! I’m reading The Crimson Petal and the White right now, and it may take me forever, so I intend to keep an eye on some shorties to keep my reading momentum up!
Sometimes a very short, but accomplished story is just great 🙂
Oh my goodness…how do you read so many books in one week. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Elizabeth 🙂 The short stories helped a lot 😉
Nice! I need to read Oath Bound still as well! Not sure when I will get around to that one though. So hard to choose my next read these days as my TBR mountain is just filled with them! Happy Reading!
Here’s my Monday Wrapup
Have a GREAT day!

I am not 100% sure I’ll get to it this week, but I really want to 🙂 I want to take a small break from ARCs this week – I’ve been a little click-happy on Netgalley lately 😉
Thanks for stopping by, Jessica. Have a wonderful week!

Sounds like some good reads! 🙂 I just finished Watched by Cindy M. Hogan. It was interesting, I think it’s part of a trilogy so I have to try and remember to finish it..lol. The other two books are already out so at least that helps..hehe. 🙂
I am either going to try Insomnia by J.R. Johansson or Hidden by Marianne Curley.
LOL, I know what you mean about series that are already finished vs series that are ongoing.
I loved most of what I read last week, which is always nice. I’ll check out Watched for sure, and I look forward to your review, Stormi 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I’m reading The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick.
Hi Rose 🙂 I don’t think I’ve heard of that one. *runs to Goodreads to check it out*
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Wow! That’s a whole lot of books you’re reading. I wish I could read that much. I’m still reading The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, and after that I look forward to Prodigy by Marie Lu.
Happy Reading! 🙂
What do you think of The Immortal Rules? I love that book 🙂 I haven’t read Prodigy yet.
Thanks for stopping by Kaykay 🙂
You’re welcome, Lexxie. I guess I love the book more than you do. LOL 🙂 I just posted my review on it. It’s a Five Star read.
Great review Kaykay 🙂 I gave it five stars as well 🙂 JKagawa always writes stories I love to read!
It’s amazing how many books you read! I read one at a time and I take my time with it. I recently finished The Snowman by Jo Nesbo and I’m currently reading Specials by Scott Westerfeld. I wish I could read faster. 🙂
Happy reading.
What did you think of The Snowman? I’ve heard good things about it 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Athina. Happy reading.
Oh, I loved it. It was amazing. It was so good that I bought Nemesis too. It’s with the same MC. 🙂 And there are more. 🙂
There is a sale of Jo Nesbö books in a Norwegian digital bookstore this week, that’s one of the reasons why I asked. I haven’t read The Snowman yet, so I may just check it out now.
If you are interested I just uploaded a post on my blog about The Snowman.
Here is the link http://between-my-lines.blogspot.gr/2013/06/the-snowman.html
Great! Thanks a lot Athina 🙂
Great List you have here!! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by earlier. I see you have had a good reading week. I am so jealous you have Heart of Obsidian though. I really have loved that series (its probably one of my favorite PNR series). Hope you enjoy it. Have a great week.
I think it’s my fave PNR series as well, and so far it’s truly aweseome, Renee. I hope you’ll be able to read it soon.
Thanks for stopping by. Happy reading.
Oath Bound looks really good. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by my Monday post.
I hope I’ll enjoy it, too. I liked the first two books in the series, so hopefully, this one will live up to my expectations.
Thanks for stopping by, Jamie 🙂
Head Over Heals looks so good! Glad you enjoyed Pushing the Limits. That one really surprised me. Thanks for stopping by my It’s Monday Post this week 🙂
–Kimberly @ Turning the Pages
Head Over Heels was so-so to me – maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for something so light – I don’t know.
Thanks for stopping by Kimberly 🙂
Wow, you read a ton of books this past week! I really need to start Dare You Too. I loved the first book. Thanks for visiting my Monday post.
LisaILJ @ I’ll Tumble for YA
There are weeks like that, but as I’ve said above some of the books were very short!
Thanks for stopping by Lisa 🙂
