It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, or you can do so below, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?

Last week, I had a very productive week! I read the following books :

Splintered - (un)Conventional BookviewsSplintered by A. G. Howard really blew me away. I got a lot more than I expected, and I was enthralled by the story and the characters who took me on a mysterious and pretty wild ride. 5 stars

To Sin with a Viking - (un)Conventional BookviewsTo Sin with a Viking was OK, there were good descriptions of how life might have been like in the time of the Vikings, and I enjoyed the main female character. 3 stars – review will be posted either later this week or next week.

All Over You - (un)Conventional BookviewsAll Over You by Beverley Kendall is book 1.5 in her NA series Unforgettable You. I am not a big fan of this series, which really saddens me, because I love her historical romance novels. This one really seems forced, though, and I didn’t really enjoy it.

Dead Witch Walking - (un)Conventional BookviewsI finally started reading The Hollows series and enjoyed Dead Witch Walking. I thought Rachel was a great MC and look forward to getting to know her better (so much so that I ran to amazon to purchase the next 9 books in the series 😉 ). I gave it 4 stars – review will be posted soon.

Tower in the Woods - (un)Conventional BookviewsI also read Tower in the Woods which I’m reviewing for another blog, Risqué Reviews, where I sometimes review erotica. It was quite good, with a strange cult, a female MC who has lived isolated form the world for 11 years, and a hot man who thought he could stay indifferent to her charms.

Right now, I’m sitll contiuing with Carniepunk, it’s nice to read a very short story just to get my mind off some of the longer books I have on my TBR.

Next week, I plan on reading the following books:

Queen of Jastain - (un)Conventional BookviewsQueen of Jastain, since I didn’t get to it last week, but I still really look forward to it!

Blaze of Winter - (un)Conventional BookviewsBlaze of Winter (Star Harbor #2) by Elisabeth Barrett has been on my TBR for a while, and I actually have an ARC I should really review – so next up will be this contemporary romance.

The Good, the Bad and the Undead - (un)conventional BookviewsAnd I really look forward to reading the 2nd book in the Hollows series – The Good, the Bad and the Undead. I think Rachel will continue to surprise me and that her friends will be there to help her out when she doesn’t really know what to do anymore.

  1. Thanks for sharing your reading pleasures with us this week! I will be checking out The Hollows series that you mentioned because it sounds like something I would be interested in so thank you !

    • Jackie, two of my blogger-friends have been telling me about the Hollows series, and I really enjoyed the first book. I usually pay attention to their reviews, because I have noticed that we usually enjoy the same books 🙂

Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic week.

    • LOL I know, right? It’s stupid and quite logical at the same time – now, I can just binge-read The Hollows for a while, in-between other books.

Splintered was awesome! I hope you’ll love it too.

      Happy reading to you, too.

    • Yeah, Splintered was great, and not what I expected – so I got a very nice surprise.

Thanks for stopping by Deb 🙂 Have a great week.

  2. Jessica@a GREAT read

OOh very nice!! Glad you liked Dead Witch Walking! Kim is one of my fave authors! Started her books many years ago when I first started reading more adult books vs YA–before there was any paranormal YA!

Thanks for visiting my Monday post!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Yeah, Jaclyn totally persuaded me with her Sidekick post a while back, and I’m so glad I finally started reading the Hollows now 🙂

      I’m enjoying the 2nd book already 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Jessica! Have a great week.

  3. Oh wow! You really did read a lot of books last week! Good job!

I ADORE The Hollows series. It’s one of my all-time favourites. <3 <3 So excited to see a fellow blogger starting it. I really can't wait to see how you find the rest of the series. In my opinion they just get better and better.

I really need to get to reading Splintered sometime. It sounds so amazing. Glad you enjoyed it!

    • So far, I’m really enjoying the Hollows series as well – Rachel is a great heroine – I love her!

You should definitely try out Splintered! It’s great 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Alice. Have a wonderful week.

    • You should! It has been a lot of fun so far 🙂 And it’s open to start any time (I think the linky things are open for 6 months!)

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  4. I thought Splintered was good too. I also like Kim Harrison’s series. I read them as they came out and think it will be a whole different experience to read them more or less back to back. Come see what I read last week at Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!

    • I just finished the second book in the series, and I suddenly don’t want to read anything else than book number 3!

Thanks for stopping by Kathy 🙂

  5. Rose Milligan

Enjoy your books this week. I finished What the Spell? by Brittany Geragotelis (4/5 stars) last week. This week I’m reading Solaris by Stanislaw Lem, Fields of Elysium by A.B. Whelan, and OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu.

    • Nice list of books, Rose 🙂 What the Spell? kind of intrigues me only because of that title! I need to find it on Goodreads 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Yes, the three of you had me convinced already, but when I started reading, the only thought in my mind was WOW! And as soon as I finished, I just wanted more 😉

YAY – I hope you’ll enjoy Dannika Dark’s Mageri series, Robyn. I look forward to seeing what you think about it.

Have a great week, too, Robyn, and thanks for stopping by.

    • LOL, I need to make sure I stop between books to actually write my reviews, I think. I feel like just reading and discovering more of the Hollows world for the time being. But I have to make sure I share my love as well.

I think for viking books or Norse mythology books, I am a very difficult reader. I love the history and the mythology, so I read with a more critical eye than I do for stories where I don’t really have much knowledge.

Thanks for stopping by, Brandee! I hope you’ll have an awesome week as well.

  6. Eeeeep Dead Witch Walking!! That was one of my birthday books that I got earlier this year and I still haven’t had a chance to read it. And since BEA, well let’s just say I have a lot of catching up to do O.O Man, now I’m anxious to read your review and torture myself a little more LOL Hope you love it!!

    • It’s truly awesome! I have read it now, and bought the next NINE books in the series as soon as finished the first book. I’m reading book 3 right now 🙂 No time to review anything – I just want to read 😉

      Thanks for stopping by Micheline!
