It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, that way you will have other Monday bloggers coming to visit you as well.

Last week, I read the following books:

Sanctuary - (un)Conventional BookviewsSanctuary by Pauline Creeden. Very interesting and quite different dystopia with a Christian theme. It was well done, and I quite enjoyed it. My review will be up tomorrow as part of a blogtour. 3 stars

In Harmony - (un)Conventional BookviewsIn Harmony (Fenbrook Academy #2) by Helena Newbury is a new adult contemporary romance that blew my socks off! There is music – that I could almost hear, and romance and growing up, and being scared of the future. Very well written, and I am going to read more books by this author. Soon. My review will be up on Wednesday, also during a blogtour. 5 stars

The Cutting Room Floor - (un)Conventional BookviewsI had an ARC of The Cutting Room Floor by Dawn Klehr, and the story was awesome and creepy. Well done with scenes like a movie, and a heroine who really had to learn to take care of herself so she wouldn’t be swallowed up whole by her friends! 4 stars

Right now, I’m reading:

Friends to Lovers - (un)Conventional BookviewsFriends to Lovers by Christi Barth – I have just started it, so I can’t really say much about it for the time being. But it seems like a sweet romance.

And next up, I am planning on reading:

Targeted - (un)Conventoinal BookviewsTargeted (Deadly Ops #1) by Katie Reus. I participated in a bloogtour  for this book, and I’m really excited that I got an ARC to read as well. I look forward to it a lot!

Antigoddess - (un)Conventional BookviewsAntigoddess (Goddess War #1) by Kendare Blake. I also look forward to this – I usually really enjoy Ms. Blake’s books, and hopefully, Antigoddess will be no exception.

I doubt I’ll have time for any more this week – and I might not even make it through these three books. I have a whole book to read on semantics and pragmatics, as well as loads of articles both on phonetics and on the history of syntax in French language… Fun times 🙂

Here’s what’s happened on (un)Conventional Bookviews this past week:

Review: Why Dukes Say I Do (Wicked Widows #1) – Manda Collins

Sidekick Showcase #21 – Mischievious

What did you read last week? Do you have any recommendations for me? Please leave me a link so I can come check out your It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? post 🙂 Thanks for stopping by today, have a great week, and happy reading.

    • You should definitely check out The Cutting Room Floor! Semantics, Pragmatics and Syntax is pretty cool, but it’s not exactly relaxing 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week, too.

    • I haven’t read any reviews of Antigoddes yet, because I want to just have my own opinion when I read it 🙂 Hopefully, we’ll both enjoy it 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  1. Gilda Joyce: The Ghost Sonata by Jennifer Allison
    and
Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie (nook edition)

The first is a YA mystery series. Gilda accompanies Wendy to London for a piano competition. Wendy is stressed before they leave and weird things start happening right away. Is it one of her fellow students or something more.

The second an elderly patriarch who made his fortune through diamond mining calls his family members together for Christmas before he has a chance to change his will. Did a family member do it or someone else? Hercule to the rescue!

    • I love Hercule Poirot! I have read a lot of Agatha Christie’s books, and loved every single one of them.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading Xyra 🙂 *hugs*

    • I really enjoy mythology, and I like the way Ms. Kendare writes, so hopefully, Antigoddess will appeal to me 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Stormi 🙂

  2. Ooh-ooh, I can’t wait to read your thoughts on In Harmony (I’m part of the blog tour, too, but haven’t started it yet), and The Cutting Room Floor. I hope you enjoy Friends to Lovers, Targeted, and Antigoddess. Katie Reus and Kendare Blake are both on my TBR. 🙂

I just finished No One’s Angel for a blog tour and am starting Forever Innocent for a blog tour. And then I’ll be reading The Undisciplined Bride.

I hope you had a lovely weekend, Lexxie! It was quite busy for me as it was my son’s birthday, I had my parents and grandmother in from Texas, and the girls had a band competition. So I’ve been radio-silent. I’m trying to catch up! 😉 I hope your week is off to a great start and I’ll ‘see’ you tomorrow! *HUGS*

    • In Harmony was great! I loved it 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy it as well, Brandee. The Cutting Room Floor was creepy and good,t oo.

Oh, I really want to read The Undisciplined Bride as well, it seems like a fun romance!

WOW, we had a busy weekend as well, because it way my son’s birthday… Have a great day, Brandee. *hugs*

    • I love JR Ward! I hope you’ll enjoy it, even if it’s a LOT of book, and it’ll take you a while to get through 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Braine 🙂

  3. Kathy Martin

I have an ARC of The Cutting Room Floor. Now, I can’t wait to read it. Come see what I read last week here. Have a great week!

  4. I’m reading Magic Rises (Kate Daneiels #6). I told my sister to think back to the time I told her she just had to read Mercy Thompson because she is so awesome. Kate is just as cool. I hope you enjoy Friends to Lovers. I suddenly feel the urge to crack open a text book and study, maybe not the history of syntax in the French language.

    • Kate Daniels is another of those series that has taken up space on my TBR for a long time. And if it’s anything like Mercy or The Hollows, I’m pretty sure I’ll love it.

Friends to Lovers was very good – light and fluffy and HOT romance.

Text books are awesome! If I need help with logic, I’ll send you an e-mail 😉

      Thanks for stopping by Robyn.

  5. I’m reading THE BOOK THIEF for the readalong we’re hosting–and lately I’ve just been reading a bunch of NAs, hah. I’m having trouble concentrating on YA at the moment, but I hope I get over that soon. Have heard great things about ANTIGODDESS, hope you enjoy it, Lexxie!

    • I have fallen in love with NA lately myself, Wendy. They still have the same kind of themes, but there’s a little more to them as well.

Thanks for taking the time to comment today 🙂

  6. Lexxie, where are you? I missed you. Hahaha. But no pressure. Are you even sleeping with all the readings you should do?

I am excited to see what you think of Anti-Goddess since it’s already on my To be bought list. If I manage to buy it, it would be my very first Blake book. <3

Have a good week, Lexxie. Try to get some rest.

    • I think AntiGoddess is next up, I just started Targeted today, and WOW, that is a very fast-paced, action-packed spy-like romance.

Thanks for stopping by, and for missing me 🙂 that’s actually very nice. I’m sorry I haven’t been by Pens and Thoughts lately, but I’ll stop by today.

  7. I am glad you liked The Cutting Room Floor, Lexxie. I have it coming up for review sometime soon and i was worried because I don’t always have the best of luck with Flux. That is Flux, right? Anyway, now I have something to look forward to. Yay!

    • It is Flux, and I really enjoyed it. It’s pretty creepy and different, but in a good way. I hope you’ll like it too!

Thanks for stopping by Kara 🙂
