its monday (un)Conventional Bookviews

Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I  think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, or you can do so below, and just know that every week, a lucky winner is drawn from the bloggers or posters (no need to even have a blog) who comment on at least ten posts in the It’s Monday meme. The winner gets a $5 Amazon gift card. How awesome is that?

So this last week, I managed a little bit more than I had anticipated, and that’s always good, right?

Dead Ever After - (un)Conventional BookviewsI read Dead Ever After, and it really did feel like a last book in a series (which, you know, it was…) almost all of the important characters from Sookie’s past showed up in one way or another, and that was really good. My review will be up later this week, but I can share that I gave it four stars 🙂

Fall Of Night - (un)Conventional BookviewsI loved, loved, loved Fall of Night by Rachel Caine! It was awesome – as usual. Claire never fails to amaze me, and surprise me, and neither does Ms. Caine! There were so many things that happened, things I would have just never guessed. My review for Fall of Night will also be up later this week, and this was a solid five star read for me!

Big Boy - (un)Conventional BookviewsBig Boy was a very hot, quick read. It’s part of a series written by three authors, this one is written by Ruthie Knox. I had already read and totally fallen in love with Back on Track by Donna Cummings, in the same Strangers on a Train series. Big Boy definitely deserved four stars. Both for hotness, and for great role-play on the main characters part. I will definitely check out more books by this author.

Thank You For Riding - (un)Conventional BookviewsThank you for Riding by Meg Maguire is the third book in the Strangers on a Train series, and it earned five stars, because the situation the main characters ended up in was very surprising, and what they did with what they had at hand was totally awesome, as well as extremely hot! All of these three books are worth picking up. They read very fast, and they are both funny and romantic. As I really liked Making Him Sweat by the same author, it’s sure that I’ll keep picking up her books now – for hotness and romance.

Right now, I’m reading Cowboy Come Home - (un)Conventional Bookviews Cowboy Come Home by Eve Gaddy. Previously, I have read Just One Night by the same author, and liked it. Cowboy Come Home is certainly off to a very good start! I hope it keeps being this good 🙂

Carniepunk - (un)Conventional BookviewsI am also still reading Carniepunk – as it is an anthology, I don’t feel too bad for putting it down in between other books. The few stories I’ve read so far are really good, and very short!

Oath Bound - (un)Conventional BookviewsNext, I think I will start Oath Bound by Rachel Vincent. This series is a very different paranormal / urban fantasy, and I love the main characters I met in Blood Bound and Shadow Bound. I really look forward to reading this, and I have no idea why I haven’t read it before now.

Lust For Life - (un)Conventional BookviewsLust for Life has been on my kindle for a long while already, and I’ve been holding off on this, because it’s the last book in Jeri Smith-Ready’s WVMP seires. I don’t want this series to end, but I really want to know what happens next, so I feel the need to read it now. Bring on the Night was awesome, and book #3.5 – Let it Bleed was actually free on the author’s website!

With All my Soul - (un)Conventional BookviewsIf I have time for one more book, and if I can make myself read another last-book-in-a-series I will read With all my Soul by Rachel Vincent. This is the seventh and last book in her Soulscreamers series. I am really sad this is coming to an end as well, although, I understand when an author wants to move on to something new and different. Each book in this series is better than the last, in my opinion, and I loved Before I Wake.

What about you? What are you reading? Did you enjoy last week’s reads? Please do share – I might just have to keep adding to my bloated TBR 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll have a wonderful week. Happy reading.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Jessica 🙂 I hope you’ll like Dead Ever After, too, I’ve seen some people not too happy with it…

  1. It looks like you had a great reading week! I wish I could say the same. I finally finished a book I’d been struggling to finish for weeks and it only turned out to be “ok”. I’m looking forward to checking out your Sookie review. It’s been too long since I’ve revisited that series and I’m afraid I’ll get it all messed up with my True Blood memories.

    • Oh, it’s no fun when you’re reading a book that lasts forever, and you’re not even really satisfied with it.
I have to admit I was a little confused about something in Dead Ever After precisely because of True Blood 😉
      Thanks for stopping by, Laurie!

    • Fall of Night was SO awesome! I have to write my review, but for the time being, I can only squee 😉

LOL about Sookie… even if you read the last book about Sookie, you can still make up your own ending, no? I’d rather not, apart from if I can play Sookie 😉

    • Oh, I hope you’ll like it, Tanya – sometimes, I really enjoy a series when I can read ALL the books back-to-back, without having to wait for a whole year between books.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂
