It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.

Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, that way you will have other Monday bloggers coming to visit you as well.

Last week, I read the following books:

Ever After - (un)Conventional BookviewsEver After, the 11th installment in Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series blew my socks off! A huge and solid five stars to it, I loved everything about it. The character development, the excitement, the fighting… it was awesome 🙂

Bound by Night - (un)Conventional BookviewsBound by Night in Larissa Ione’s new series Moon Bound is another solid five stars from me! So well written, with excellent characters and vampires that don’t act the way I’m used to. And that is very well explained, too.

The Next Best Thing - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins is a light chick-lit / contemporary romance that I enjoyed – three stars.

These Broken Stars - (un)Conventional BookviewsThese Broken Stars by Amie Kaufmann and Meagan Spooner is an excellent YA science fiction novel, I loved everything about it! The two main characters were well done, and the changes they went through were excellent. The word-building was good, and I look forward to reading more about this place! Five stars.

Frost Burned - (un)Conventional BookviewsFrost Burned is the 7th book in Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series, and I loved it! Five stars for all the action, and the way Mercy managed to get so many things done!

Carrots - (un)Conventional BookviewsCarrots by Colleen Helme is a quick contemporary read, it was a little predictable and not as original as I think it could have been. Three stars.

Right now, I’m reading

With All my Soul - (un)Conventional BookviewsWith All my Soul, yes, I finally actually started the 7th (and last) book in Rachel Vincent’s Soulscreamers series. I am really enjoying it so far.

Next up, I have no idea what I’ll read. I have a lot of books already on my kindle, both ARCs, purchased and freebies, so the choice is almost a little overwhelming. My Goodreads will be up-to-date though, if you want to know what I’m up to as it happens.

Here’s what happened on the blog last week – I didn’t post very much, because I had too much fun reading 🙂

Review: Pale Demon (The Hollows #9) – Kim Harrison

Cover Reveal: Vision of Shadows – Vincent Morrone

Teaser Tuesday #4 – Ever After

Feature and Follow #59 – Bookshelf Tour

Sidekick Showcase # 18 – Spitfire

What have you been up to this past week? Did you read some good books? Please share so I can come check out your It’s Monday! What are you Reading? post as well. Thanks for stopping by, have a great week and happy reading.

  1. OMG! I am looking forward to your views on These Broken Stars, Lexxie. I soooo want the book but unluckily, I got rejected. And it’s a pity that I will have to wait for four months to buy it. *sighs*

    Happy reading!

    • Charlotte, it’s awesome! And I’m sure you’ll love it. These Broken Stars is the book I was the most surprised to get accepted for, ever!

I assure you it’s going to be worth the wait 😉 Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Wow. That’s many books. 🙂
I’m reading Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld and On Writing by Stephen King. Both are amazing so far.

Have a great week and thanks so much for reading Divided. I wrote you a comment on my blog too.

    • Thes Broken Stars won’t be released for a while yet, you’ll have to wait until December 10th… But it will totally be worth the wait in my opinion.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • I am a little strange when it comes to reading the last book in a series I love… I hold off on it for as long as possible, so that the series isn’t over for me 😉

      Thanks for stopping by Jessica!

    • I’m sure I’ll find something I’ll enjoy 🙂 And I’m glad I’m not the only one who has trouble choosing sometimes.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. It sounds like you had a great week! I’m glad you enjoyed 5 star ratings. I still haven’t finished the soul screamers series and I look forward to it .

      • Stuck in the first volume. I’ve read the first two and halfway into My Soul To Save and it’s picking up a bit. I also read Before I Wake . It was the first one I’d read and I couldn’t get into it because I didn’t know what happened to Kaylee or how she died. She was already a wraith type ghost which sounded silly to me and so was her boyfriend Todd. Although i since found out he had always been a ghost and that she had a relationship with his brother Nash first. Being a banshee seemed painful to Kaylee at the beginning and she never quite understood who she was . I found that pretty nerve racking, but I intend to finish the series someday ….just not yet 🙂

        • Oh, I would have been really confused it I read a book farther along in the series first, I think. There is a lot of different undercurrents, and the way the characters interact changes too. And if you know the backstory, it’s easy to understand.

I know how you feel… one day 🙂

  4. Well, I’m a little envious of all you read, Lexxie. Especially, Harrison, Briggs, and now Vincent. I know I do it to myself. LOL I need some help with that little two-letter word ‘no’. 🙂 I’m hoping to really whip through some books I’ve agreed to read so I can get to some books I just want to read for ME. 😉 Of course, I just finished Stardust and am reading Starlight for a tour and am enjoying them.

I hope the rest of your weekend was great. I caught my oldest daughter’s cold and have no voice (thus, my verbosity in writing LOL) but other than that, it was nice. I also hope your week is off to a grand start! **hugs**

    • Yeah, I love it when I only read the books that are parts of a series I love, books I’ve been waiting for and looking forward to.

At the same time, I usually only sign up for blog-tours or request ARCs for books I think I’ll really enjoy, too, so it’s not as if that’s really any hardship at all 🙂

I’m sorry you caught that cold! And hey, you can come here to be verbose in writing as often as you want! I love reading you 😀 My week has started off great, I hope yours will be good too, with no more cold 🙂 *hugs*

    • I think it’s great that you’ve started the paranormal genre at all 🙂 I know I had trouble with it before I read my first paranormal book.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Ahhhh more positive thoughts about These Broken Stars!! 😀 SO happy you loved it too Lexxie, I actually featured it as my WoW pick recently! Can’t wait to read it myself 🙂 And since you seem to be reading a lot of my ‘can’t wait to get into’ series’, I’ve probably said so before but YAY for the Hallows, Mercy Thompson and Soul Screamers!! You’ve got quite the selection of amazing series’ and reads on the go ;D Happy reading!

    • Oh, I hope you’ll love These Broken Stars, Micheline. I thought it was awesome! The worldbuilding and the character developments were great, and I really enjoyed the SF elements.

Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic week.

  6. I’m late commenting because I’ve been enjoying reading too! You read Frost Burned. I loved it so much!!! Adam’s POV, I hope we get that again. And These Broken Stars sounds good. I’m reading Tragic by J.A. Huss which is a huge change up from my Kate Daniels marathon. I hope you’re having a great week, Lexxie!

    • I loved Adam’s POV as well 🙂 It was really great, and I thought Frost Burned was all good in every way 🙂

I need to open a J.A. Huss book, too. And as you know, I haven’t started the Kate Daniels series yet.

I’m having an excellent week, and I’m happy you’ve been enjoying reading instead of commenting, even if I love your comments! *hugs*
