Review: Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits #1) – Katie McGarry

Review: Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits #1) – Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits is the kind of book that makes me feel both lucky and happy I’m a reader! I was totally immersed in the story from the first sentence, and it only kept getting better and better! I fell in love with both Echo and Noah from the very start, and they never ceased to amaze me! These two broken teens, struggling with demons from their past, with trying to reclaim normal, had never talked to each other before they were forced to work together. They both needed something the other could give, but none of them were giving freely at first. Pushing the Limits really is a story about just that – pushing limits, giving the best of […]

Review: The Other Side of Us – Sarah Mayberry

Review: The Other Side of Us – Sarah Mayberry

When I picked up The Other Side of Us for free on amazon, I thought I’d get a light, slick romance. Something hot that would just take a couple of hours to read, then be forgotten… What I got was a profound story about two broken characters, a beautiful narrative about hope, fighting for your life, and love. I fell in love with both Oliver and MacKenzie, they were both trying to patch their lives back together, and their first meeting really didn’t go well. However, they were both willing to look past that first meeting, and when they started to get to know each other they realized that having someone they could share their doubts and dreams with was […]

Top Ten Tuesday #14 – Top Ten Books with Travel

Top Ten Tuesday #14 – Top Ten Books with Travel

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten books featuring travel in some way This week on Top Ten Tuesday we are discussing books where the characters travel! It can be a road-trip, a honey-moon, traveling for work, vacation – you name it. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go : As usual, my list is in no particular order : Just One Day by Gayle Forman! What’s not to love, when there’s a trip to London […]

Blogtour Review: Switching – Jody Kihara

Blogtour Review: Switching – Jody Kihara

*I received a free ARC of Switching from Lightning Book Promotions in exchange of an honest review* Swtiching has me awed in all of its’ aspects! The characters are fantastically detailed, the world-building is amazingly well done, and the time travel plot is one of the best I’ve ever read. Terry is a young girl, with no memory of her past, the only thing she knows is that she has been hopping through time during the past eight months – or switching as she calls it – and she’s been taking notes on the different dates and places she’s been to. Being alone for so long has taken its toll on Terry. She doesn’t know how old she is, what […]

Review: Tight Quarters (Strangers on a Train) – Samantha Hunter

Review: Tight Quarters (Strangers on a Train) – Samantha Hunter

Tight Quarters is the fourth story I have read in the Strangers on a Train series by different authors. It is quite different from the other books in this series, because the characters, Reid and Brenna, both have something difficult to deal with. Brenna has difficulties just boarding the train, and when Reid follows her all the way to her berth, she almost flips out. She uses her key to open the door, then close it behind her. When Reid then proceeds to open the door with his own key, she hides in a corner, and has no idea what to do. For just one person, the berth has more than enough room, but put a bulky ex-cop in there […]

Armchair BEA Wrapup post – and a little more Today is the final day of Armchair BEA, and reflecting on this past week and how much fun I’ve had being very busy commenting on blogs I found through Armchair BEA is a bittersweet thing to do! Here is a list of new-to-me bloggers whom I met and interacted with during Armchair BEA – and whom I am now following, and look forward to getting to know better : Ashley from The […]

Sidekick Saturday #6 – Comedic Relief

Sidekick Saturday #6 – Comedic Relief

Sidekick Saturday #6 – Comedic Relief Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: • Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week’s type • Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character • Give the title and author of a book the character can […]

Review: Fall of Night (The Morganville Vampires #14) – Rachel Caine

Review: Fall of Night (The Morganville Vampires #14) – Rachel Caine

Fall of Night is the 14th book in The Morganville Vampires series, and though I love this series, I didn’t think it could surprise me anymore… But I was blown away completely, and could have never seen the impact coming! The ending was so awesome I wish I could now be a fly on the wall in Rachel Caine’s office (or wherever it is she’s writing) so that I could know sooner what will happen next! Fall of Night starts with the almost-rising sun over the horizon, just outside the city-limits of Morganville, where Claire is waiting for her dad to come and pick her up. She has snuck out of the Glass house to avoid a teary goodbye with […]

Armchair BEA – Non-fiction / Ethics

Armchair BEA – Non-fiction / Ethics

Non-fiction Welcome to day 3 of Armchair BEA, I hope you are having as much fun with this as I am! Yesterday, I participated in my first ever Twitterchat, and I loved it. I also checked out the live video-stream from BEA, and while that was fun as well, it was also a little confusing, becuase it is also a live video chat, with lots of people talking at the same time 🙂 Today, we are talking about non-fiction. When I first saw this as a topic, I was thinking to myself that I don’t read non-fiction apart from course-books in linguistics, so maybe I shouldn’t participate today. However, it is just not doable for me to not participate, I […]
