In this highly anticipated fifteenth novel in the Immortals After Dark series, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole spins a sultry tale of a mighty warrior scarred inside and out and the beguiling sorceress with the power to heal him—or vanquish him forever.

Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

Endless Yearning
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

WOW Dark Skye is an awesome installment in the Immortals After Dark series! And can I just say character growth?

My Dark Skye review:

Thronos and Leanthe have such a complicated relationship it’s a wonder they actually even talked to each other at all. Dark Skye seemingly threw them together at a very inopportune time, but of course, soothsayer Nyx had something to do with that, and she showed up more than once to my utter enchantment. Thronos having searched for Leanthe for centuries made me really feel for him, even if he also acted like an ass for a long time. In a way, I enjoyed him for that as well, because it allowed for his character to grow so much. Leanthe was no innocent – in any way – and I loved that she had a very relaxed with her body and her enjoyment of it.

Another thing I really enjoyed in Dark Skye was the fact that Thronos was a virgin, he could not sleep with anyone but his mate, even if he wanted to. I always think it’s amazing when the typical romance tropes are reversed, so to see that Thronos was the so-called innocent in their relationship. The story took our two heroes on a heart-wrenching trip to several different planes, first to a demon-plane where Thronos mysteriously could read the demonic writing on the wall… As they struggled to survive, they learned a lot more about each other, and this helped them overcome the past and the way they had never understood each other before.

As Leanthe and Thronos traveled across the planes, Dark Skye managed to make me feel like I was right there with them. The writing is beautiful, it showed me the places Leanthe and Thronos visited, in some instances, I could almost smell what they smelled, and I certainly was able to see what they saw. From being vindictive and a little scared of each other, as well as not trusting at all, both Leanthe and Thronos slowly let their walls down and dared to truly get to know each other, and finally realized how much they meant to each other.

If you are a fan of the Immortals After Dark series, I’m sure I don’t have to say anything more – go get your copy, it’s released today! – and if you’re not, I have to say I’m wondering what you are waiting for! The mythology in this series is really good, and the story-arc is so well done. Even if each book follows one couple, there are overall stories as well, that span over several books, and I was amazed at one clue that was delivered in Dark Skye.

Some of my favorite Dark Skye quotes:

Lanthe didn’t like things to be killed, not even handsome Vrekeners.

She might be the bitterest necessity, but his instincts were doubtless screaming inside him, commanding him on a loop: MATE FEMALE!

She’d been to ancient ruins before. This place seemed so old it made those other ones appear techno.

How could Thronos desire someone he’d long detested? He’d be damned if he valued her when she didn’t value herself. He knew one thing that would cool his need like an ice storm, a memory that made his hatred seethe.

    • Braine, it’s an awesome series, but I totally understand why you think it’s a little too much to start it when there are so many books already out. It’s truly great, though, the mythology is solid, and the characters are almost always amazing.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Yeah, I loved that it was Thronos who had no experience, it makes the story interesting in a different way.
      Thanks for stopping by, Naomi.

  1. I can’t express well enough how much I enjoy reading about a main male virgin character. So far I’ve always found stories with them quite fascinating to read about and this one sounds really great, too. #15, huh? It could get me a while to get there…but I will! 😉
    Great review, Lexxie!

    • Yeah, me too, Silvia! It actually makes the story a lot more interesting to make the male the virgin, because that’s outside of the ‘normal’ tropes.
This series is really great, Silvia 🙂 I’m kind of glad I started it when there were fewer books released, though 😀
      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. IAD is my favorite PNR series. So much so, that I didn’t read MacRieve last year when it came out b/c I knew it wouldn’t live up to Lothaire, and I wanted to have the next book ready before continuing the series. IT’S TIME. Great review, Lexxie! I can’t wait read this one for myself.

    • Yes, it’s definitely time, Jessica 🙂 I love IAD as well, there are so many awesome characters, and the mythology is so believable!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Egads…what AM I waiting for?!? I haven’t read this series, Lexxie. *hangs head* But I’m loving the sound of this installment. That Thronos is an innocent is really intriguing. And I’m a huge fan of character growth, as you know, so that’s a big bonus. Guess I’m going to have to add this series to my humongous TBR. 🙂 **BIG HUGS**
