Falling for His Duchess is a very tender and humorous story, I loved getting to know Julian and Rosalinde, their love-story was so sweet!

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Cummings always brings a smile to my face with her stories, and Falling for His Duchess is no different! Rosalinde was left alone at the country inn when she was there for her elopement, and Julian completely caught her off balance. The fact that Aphrodite and Ares were close-by, playing their little games did not make things easy for the protagonists, especially Julian. The Duke had left London behind to get away from all the match-making mothers and daughters who were all after him for his title alone. He wanted someone to love him for him – not for his title, and Rosalinde was like a breath of fresh air.

Julian wasn’t completely truthful with Rosalinde, as he wanted to see if she would like the man he was, he introduced himself as Mr. Julian Shelby, and even then, she was a little hesitant. The country-girl didn’t think a gentleman from London would be at all interested in her – discounting her own beauty and wit, she only saw the differences between them. But Julian was nothing if not persistant, and it was so much fun to see all he was willing to do to win Rosalinde’s heart.

Getting to know Julian and Rosalinde while they got to know each other was great, I fell as hard for them as they fell for each other, and their witty banter, dice games and silly bets had me laughing when my heart was swelling at the same time! The Curse of True Love series continues to be great, with a dash of Greek mythology to help the new lovers on the way to eternal happiness.

Written in third person perspective and past tense, the dialogues made the characters shine! The pace was a little slow in the beginning, but it picked up and made me read the whole story in one setting – I had to know if Rosalinde would accept Julian in the end or not.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

He would spend every minute of his unexpected holiday being frivolous, carefree and positively selfish – once he determined precisely how it was done.

Julian threw his head back and laughed heartily, too. He, the most eligible bachelor in all of England, was sitting in a mud puddle in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a torrential downpour, and his heart was near to bursting with love. Life had never been so grand.

Rosalinde could not remember when her every desire was catered to, for she was used to providing comfort rather than receiving it. She might have felt guilty to be so indulged if she hadn’t considered it a reward for all the aggravations she had endured that day.

  1. If he’s trying *so* hard to win her heart, I can forgive Julian not telling Rosalinde his *real* name. 😉 I really need to catch up in this series, Lexxie! It’s so much fun!
Happy Wednesday, my dear! How is it Wednesday already?!? I hope you’re having a great week. Miss you! **BIG HUGS**

    • I can forgive him for another reason, too, Brandee… when he’s out and about in London, he’s seen as a ticket to a good life – he never knows if people like him because of who he are, or if it’s because of what he might be able to do for them…
This week is fast and slow at the same time, Brandee! I’m really tired, those oral exams take a lot out of me! But at the same time, I’m so happy I can do this – it’s very interesting, and I enjoy knowing exactly what happens on ‘the other side’ 😉
Miss you too!! Only four more weeks, my dear! *BIG HGUS*
