Ava hates men, she has reason and she’s vowed not only never to get involved with another one again but also to exact vengeance on her best friend’s, lying, cheating husband. Since Luke, Ava’s childhood crush, is now a private investigator, she thinks to enlist him but changes her mind at the last second.

Too late, Luke knows she’s up to something and he’s already seen many a Rock Chick try to fight her own battles without the Hot Bunch stepping in. He’s having none of it. She’s having none of him. The clash of the Rock Chick and Hot Guy begins but Luke’s got the advantage. He has handcuffs and he’s not afraid to use them.

I was SO excited to finally get Luke’s story, so when I started Rock Chick Revenge, it was with a light heart, ready for some good action and some fun and lots of romance!

My Rock Chick Revenge review:

Luke appealed to me when I first saw how he softened while with a girl he liked and respected, however, his brief interludes with girls in the books prior to Rock Chick Revenge didn’t come to anything more, as there were other guys on those girls’ minds. With his intense eyes, extreme loyalty, and the mystery he kept about himself by talking very little, I was geared up to love everything about Luke in his story. And I did love him – but not all of what he did… Ava had fallen in love with Luke when she was just a little girl, but she never thought she’d have a chance with a hottie like him. Because she was chubby and wore thick glasses, and also because her sisters were always extremely mean to her.

In Rock Chick Revenge, Ava had more or less sworn off men. After losing a lot of weight, she got much more male attention than she was used to (and really, she was the same funny and charming person before, wasn’t she??) and she also attracted some real assholes! Thus, her need for revenge. When she and Luke met again, he didn’t even recognize her at first, but when he did, he was all for pursuing Ava.

Most of the budding relationship between Ava and Luke was very hot, and also very sweet. Because they had known each other their whole life, they already liked each other, and had a good idea what the other person was all about. I do feel the need to rant a little, though, both because I felt like Ava was somehow worth less when she was chubby – and then she suddenly became popular when she lost a lot of weight. That did not really sit well with me. And also, because at the beginning of the story, Luke handcuffed Ava to his bed, to have her stay put, and then he left her cuffed there while he went out on a job! Really? What if she needed to use the bathroom? Or if there was a fire? She stayed there for hours, and I think I was even more mad at Luke than she was when he finally got back.

That being said, I kind of forgave him afterwards, because he was able to bring Ava back out of her shell, behind her protections she had put up to protect herself after some asshats had taken advantage of her. And that, that was both hot and sweet as well! Of course, the Rock Chicks were amazing, as always. And because there was a lot of  action both in the bedroom and out of it, Rock Chick Revenge was a very fast read, filled with suspense and romance.

Written in third person point of view, past tense and from Ava’s perspective, I enjoyed the way the main and the sub-plots unfolded, and I totally loved how Luke gave Ava’s bitchy sisters a piece of his mind!

Some of my favorite Rock Chick Revenge quotes:

I’d wanted Luke to kiss me, like, for ages, but not like that. I didn’t even know you could kiss someone like that.

It felt good on, nice and snug and I tried (hard) not to think of wearing Luke’s t-shirt, at the same time trying to figure out how to steal it.

This was partly because everything that happened last night and this morning was too much to get together, and partly, because, between my legs, I could still feel Luke even though he was gone, and let me tell you, it was a nice feeling.

  1. Yay! We’re KA review buddies today!! 😀 I admit that Luke made me re-think Hank, Lex…but in the end, I still chose Hank. 😉 I love Luke though – especially how he drew Ava out AND told her off bitchy sisters. Ava really resonated with me – I could relate most to her over the other Rock Chicks. That made this book a favorite for me. The action and sub-plot lines were also gut-twisting and exciting. Oh boy, you have me gearing up for a re-read! 😉
Happy Monday, my friend!! I hope your day has been marvelous so far! **BIG HUGS**

  2. Braine

You and Brandee are pushing me to start this series. I’m sure I’ll like it, it sounds like a super sexy rom-com

  3. HEY! You’re a Rock Chick fan! I had no idea!! Okay, so I have not read Kristen’s books yet. I have her first Chaos book but should I read Rock Chick first or Chaos? What’s your opinion???

Great review!!! I can totally tell you LOVE this series!!!

    • I actually read the first few Chaos novels before I read Rock Chick, and that worked well for me 🙂 I know there are some crossover characters, but I had no trouble following the action at all, Kristin 🙂
And yeah, the Rock Chicks are great, what I prefer is the female characters and their very strong sense of friendship and loyalty!

  4. I would have been worrying about her having to use the bathroom through that whole part! So I don’t blame you and that would have bothered me as well. I am happy that you still gave it 4 stars so Luke must have really redeemed himself!
